[p]Add Toy Smash Kaboom! to your wishlist now, and get ready for the big KABOOM when the toy room door opens on December 4! [/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]
What's new in 1.0 Launch?
[p]In our previous release date announcement, we introduced that the full version would feature 4 unique heroes and up to 8 different classes, with the initial toy roster expanded to over 400 summons, magic and weapons. Below, we provide a side-by-side comparison of the Demo vs. Full Version, giving you a more intuitive look at the details.[/p][p][/p]
More Language Support
[p]The full version will introduce French and Portuguese language options, bringing the total to nine supported languages — including Simplified Chinese, English, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and German.[/p][p][/p][p]We hope this update allows even more players around the world to enjoy the chaotic fun of toy brawls![/p][p][/p]
A wide variety of hero class playstyles
[p]In the full Launch, each hero offers two distinctive classes to choose from:[/p]
 • [p]Doll Chef: Switch between the Super Gardener and the Five-Star Chef, mastering everything from plants to gourmet dishes.[/p]
 • [p]Puppet Musician: Play as either a note-controlling guitarist or a fire-wielding performer who burns everything.[/p]
 • [p]Dr. Hamster: Summon an army of hamsters or become a mechanical master, operating intricate clockwork machines.[/p]
 • [p]Naughty Andy: Summoner of childhood nightmares, or general of alien-tech army.[/p]
[p][/p][p]Each hero comes with a unique class path and special class items. In the full version, the number of hero-exclusive class items has been expanded to over 40, allowing you to freely mix and match according to the battle situation and create your ultimate personalized playstyle![/p][p][/p]
Initial Hero Adjustment
[p]With the revamped ranking system and a huge amount of new content, building your favorite playstyle in the full release feels very different from the demo. To help new players ease into the game, the initial hero has been changed to the guitar girl "Puppet Musician", making early runs smoother and more beginner-friendly.[/p][p][/p][p]Other heroes and their starting classes can now be unlocked much faster, giving you a wider variety of builds right from the start.[/p][p][/p]
Achievements, Skins, and Pop-up Storybooks
[p]Alongside a brand-new achievement system, the full release will introduce a pop-up book that reveals each toy’s unique background story. This was covered in detail in the previous dev log![/p][p][/p][p]As you progress through the game, you’ll gradually uncover the toys’ pasts and wishes—some long to be picked up by their owners again, while others just want to finish a game they never got to complete. These memories will come to life in the form of an illustrated pop-up book. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]By completing challenges and winning matches, you can also earn tokens to purchase hero skins and other decorations, making every victory even more rewarding![/p][p][/p]
New Matchmaking System
[p]During the demo period, we received a lot of valuable feedback from you regarding the matchmaking logic, especially about the frustration of being randomly paired against overly strong opponents.[/p][p][/p][p]Taking your suggestions to heart, we’ve optimized the overall battle flow in the full version and introduced several new features:[/p]
 • [p]Training Rounds: Choose your preferred opponents and rewards freely to prepare for upcoming PvP battle rounds.[/p]
 • [p]Battle Rounds: Make the most of your limited rerolls to search for a better opponent and take control of the match.[/p]
 • [p]Battle Speed: A new 3x speed option has been added, allowing you to adjust battle pace.[/p]
 • [p]Pause Anytime: A new pause feature has been added to battles! While paused, you can hover your cursor over any summon, ally or enemy, to view its real-time stats and get a clearer grasp of the battlefield situation.[/p][p][/p]
[p][/p][p]We hope these changes strengthen the connection between resource management and strategic decision-making, offering players of all skill levels a more balanced, engaging, and rewarding gameplay experience.[/p][p][/p]
Casual Mode & Challenge Mode Now Available!
[p]In addition to the ranked mode, we’re also introducing the new Casual Mode and Challenge Mode![/p][p][/p][p]Casual mode is where matches don’t affect your ranking, allowing you to play without the pressure of winning or losing.[/p][p][/p][p]And the newly added Challenge Mode lets you face off against lineups uploaded by players from around the world![/p]
 • [p]Share Your Lineups: In the battle results screen or your match history, you can manually upload the lineup you used in that run. Each player can save up to 50 lineups; when the limit is reached, older data will be overwritten automatically. After uploading, you’ll receive a unique lineup code.[/p]
 • [p]Start a Challenge: With a lineup code, you can engage in 1v1 battles against lineups submitted by other players, perfect for testing your strategies and build ideas in real combat.[/p]
[p]Challenge Mode supports lineups codes by yourself, your Steam friends, and creators we feature. You can also paste lineup codes shared by the community. Please note: Challenge Mode does not allow editing—your lineup will be used exactly as it was at upload.[/p][p][/p][p]As for the Edit Mode with fully customizable lineup editor, it’s still under development. We will add it to the game via an update after launch, so please stay tuned![/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Rank System Overhaul
[p]The previous 25-tier ranking system has been simplified to 10 ranks in the full version, now represented using Roman numerals. Each rank features a new toy-themed icon, and the overall point requirement for rank-up has been reduced, making progression more accessible and enjoyable.[/p][p][/p][p]We hope the new ranking mode not only brings a stronger sense of achievement through steady progression, but also lets players unlock unique in-game events along the way, adding more rhythm and tension to each battle.[/p][p][/p][p]After achieving 10 victories, players can continue to challenge higher-level matches for greater rewards and tougher competition![/p][p][/p]
More Special Events
[p]In the demo, you may have already encountered special events such as “Joker’s Blessing” and “Toy Crafting.” In the full launch, we’re expanding with even more events, including:[/p]
 • [p]Goblin Trade: Exchange toys with a merchant.[/p]
 • [p]Crocodile Wager: Take a risk and place your wager for a chance at bonus rewards.[/p]
[p]These events will gradually unlock as you climb the ranks. And the “Toy Crafting” event will persist! You’ll still be able to turn your friends’ avatars and nicknames into in-game “toy companions” that can join you in battle. In future updates, we also plan to expand the types of weapons and abilities of the toy companions, making this feature even more fun and creative![/p][p][/p][p][/p]
About the Demo
[p]Since the full version introduces a revamped ranking system, new initial heroes, and various balance adjustments based on community feedback, rank progress in the demo will not carry over to the full release.[/p][p]We hope these updates will bring everyone a fresh and refined experience in 1.0 launch.[/p][p]That said, the free demo will remain available for a while after launch, so new players can still try the game: [/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]However, before and after launch, our development focus will be on polishing the launch version and addressing community feedback, so the demo will not be updated in sync with the launch version. If we plan to launch new demo versions in the future, we’ll be sure to let you know in advance.[/p][p][/p][p]Last but not least, thank you all for your continued support, enthusiasm, and feedback for Toy Smash Kaboom! Toy Smash Kaboom! Art Style: How We Design Our Toys?

[p]Hey, everyone![/p][p]We are Free Particle, the developers behind Toy Smash Kaboom![/p][p]Time flies! Only less than a month left until the full release. Now that development is winding down, we wanted to share some insights into the art style behind the game.[/p][p]You may have noticed that the animation in Toy Smash Kaboom! is a bit special, even carrying a hint of retro charm:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]For those familiar with Cuphead, you might recognize that Toy Smash Kaboom! uses a similar animation style that was popular in the early 20th century: Rubber Hose Animation. [/p][p]This style originated in the early American animation industry, featuring characters’ jointless and bendy body stretching and squashing like rubber hoses. For example, early Mickey Mouse cartoons used this style:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]For us, the exaggerated, humorous effect perfectly fits the art style we aim for in Toy Smash Kaboom![/p][p]As for toy design, we drew lots of inspiration from childhood memories. For example, Little Crocodile is inspired by the classic Crocodile Dentist:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Burrowing Mole comes from the classic animation Mole’s Story:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Naughty Andy has a Tamagotchi:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]And..[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]In real life, toys require special materials to achieve unique effects. But in a video game, freed from the laws of physics, imagination becomes our most powerful tool.[/p][p][/p]
Toys? More Like Toying!
[p]Ever since Easter Eggs were invented, human life has at least tripled… just kidding. [/p][p]Many of the toy designs in Toy Smash Kaboom! are indeed inspired by works we love ourselves. For instance, Captain Panda, literally the head of B.A.N.D.I.T, his round shape is inspired by the famous robot BB-8 from Star Wars:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]And who could resist a gauntlet perfect for snapping fingers…[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Of course, the hidden Easter Eggs in our toys don’t stop here. We’ll leave the rest for you to discover! Feel free to share your findings in the comments ^_-*[/p][p][/p]
Heroes' Alter Ego!
[p]Our new hero for the full version, Puppet Musician, is a super-talented rock star! She manipulates melodies to boost her team or disrupt opponents, controlling the rhythm of the battlefield.[/p][p][/p][p]Puppet Musician went through several versions. At first, she looked like this:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]While this version had a strong witchy vibe, it leaned too much on evilness and lacked the rock star energy we wanted. After much brainstorming, the ultimate image of this full-blown rock enthusiast was born:[/p][p]Now her cute bright pink twin-tails contrast sharply with her fiery, rebellious personality. Her obsession with rock music drives her to mimic David Bowie’s iconic lightning bolt makeup while covering her electric guitar with Nirvana, Rolling Stones, and Nine Inch Nails stickers![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]But Puppet Musician’s life may be more than we imagined. If you see her dressed as a vampire hunter in the game, don’t be too surprised![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]When designing her outfit, we initially considered keeping the musician theme while mixing in some Western, country folk elements (Concept Sketch A):[/p][p][/p][p]But we just couldn’t imagine this wild card slowing down to sing a gentle country ballad. In the end, we decided that besides rocking out, she can indulge in her vampire-hunting fantasies, perhaps also bringing back her little witchy side.[/p][p]And she’s not the only one getting new outfits! The full release introduces Skin Change. Players can unlock new looks for each hero by meeting certain conditions, along with new table decorations, allowing you to explore another side of the heroes’ lives! For example, this doctor may look all about modern science, but secretly dabble in alchemy:[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Studio’s Secret Member?
[p]We describe ourselves as a tiny 6-person team. But actually, we have a mysterious "seventh member"! Many of the initial toy designs come from her, the studio’s lead creative director: our team member’s daughter, Yuanbao:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Gingerbread Man, taking the spotlight as the game icon, started as a doodle by Yuanbao.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]As for why Gingerbread Man has a leaf on his head…, Yuanbao prefers to keep it a secret. But we all guess it’s because of her overwhelming love for Korok![/p][p][/p][p][/p]

[p]That’s all for today’s sharing!
