Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior News

Voivod Development Update - DevLog #03

[p]Hi everyone![/p][p]It’s been a month since Gamescom, and development on Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior has kept moving forward at full speed. Here’s a look at what we’ve been working on:[/p]
  • [p]New enemies and areas — we’ve been expanding the world with fresh designs, each one animated by hand, pixel by pixel. Here’s a GIF of one of the new enemies in action:

  • [p]Beta testing the prototype — thanks to our backers who joined the beta program, we’ve been gathering early feedback to refine mechanics, balance combat, and improve the overall flow. To give you a taste of where we started, here’s a video showing the first 5 minutes of gameplay from an earlier prototype:[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
  • [p]Bug fixing — the usual but important process of polishing and removing rough edges.[/p]
  • [p]Dynamic music system — we’ve reworked how music plays during the game, making it more adaptive and immersive, so the soundtrack shifts naturally with the action.[/p]
[p]We’re a small indie team, and every bit of visibility helps. If you like what you see, please wishlist the game on Steam (it’s free!) and help spread the word: word-of-mouth is crucial to keep the project growing.[/p][p][/p][p]Thanks for following along,
Nicola & he Chaosmonger Studio team[/p][p]

5,000 Wishlists and Counting! + Gamescom Reflections

[p]Hello everyone,[/p][p]We’ve recently passed an important milestone: Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior has now been added to over 5,000 Steam wishlists! A huge thank you to all of you who’ve already shown your support. Every wishlist helps boost visibility on Steam, which in turn brings more eyes to the project. Please keep spreading the word: word-of-mouth makes a big difference for indie titles like ours.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Last week we had the chance to showcase the game at Gamescom 2025, the world’s largest videogame fair. For the occasion we built a new prototype, polishing gameplay, mechanics, art, and sound to make sure the slice we showed was representative of where we’re headed. Seeing people play the game directly was incredibly valuable: it gave us feedback on what feels right, what can be improved, and what excites players the most. We’ve already started integrating those insights into development.[/p][p][/p][p]We also want to share a new piece of content with you: the Title Screen, featuring the very first moments when launching the game, complete with a new arrangement of Holographic Thinking track by Voivod. This screen will set the tone for your journey every time you step into Voivod’s dark, dystopian multiverse. [/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p]If you can’t wait to play the game, we still have late pledges available on our Kickstarter campaign. One of the tiers even lets you join our development Discord server as a beta tester, giving you access to play the game before anyone else, share feedback directly with us, and help shape the final experience.[/p][p][/p][p]We’re very excited about the progress and can’t wait to share more in the months ahead. In the meantime, please continue to wishlist the game on Steam if you haven’t already. And even more importantly, share the Steam page with friends, communities, or anywhere you think people might enjoy the project.[/p][p][/p][p]Thanks for following along,
Nicola & the Chaosmonger Studio team[/p]

Voivod Development Update - DevLog #01

[p]Hi everyone![/p][p]It’s been a couple of months since the end of our Kickstarter campaign, and development on Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior has been moving full throttle.[/p][p]A lot has happened in a short time: we’ve expanded several areas, built new content, and revisited key sections to enhance atmosphere and immersion. One standout example is a major visual overhaul of an early-game zone. We've improved animations, added multi-layered parallax effects, and reworked the lighting to give the environment more depth and mood. Check out the before/after comparison video below to see the evolution.[/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]We’ve also been refining the main character’s core animations—especially running and jumping—to make movement feel more fluid, grounded, and responsive. Below you’ll find a before/after GIF that highlights these improvements.[/p][p][/p][p]Meanwhile, we’re preparing a playable build for Gamescom 2025, where we’ll present the game to potential publishers and press. If you're attending the event in Cologne (August 19–24) and have access to the business area, feel free to drop by the Nordic Pavilion and say hello![/p][p]We’re excited about what’s ahead and can’t wait to share more soon. In the meantime, if you haven’t already, please consider wishlisting the game on Steam and spreading the word—it really helps support the project and increases visibility.[/p][p]Stay tuned,
The Chaosmonger Studio team[/p]
