The best Rainbow Six Siege operators for ranked play in 2021

Want to win more Rainbow Six Siege ranked matches? Maybe you need to make better operator picks.

Whether you're just jumping onto Rainbow Six Siege fresh or you're a returning player, the landscape of Siege in 2021 is totally different to everything that's come before. The game has changed wildly since its launch in December 2015, meaning that formerly invaluable operators like Hibana are no longer an essential part of the meta, while many newer Rainbow Six Siege operators just aren't making the impact you might expect.

So, we enlisted the help of Siege content creator 'GriefDrums' and Pro League commentator / analyst Jess 'JessGOAT' Bolden to help us pick the best of the best Rainbow Six Siege operators so that you can survive the draft phase and start every round with the best chance of success.

Rainbow Six Siege devs will explain next steps on "some hot issues" soon

June is here, which means it's time for the next Rainbow Six Siege 'after action' report, and some hints about what developer Ubisoft has in store for the FPS game soon. May's iteration of the report has now dropped on Twitter, and it offers hints about some "top issues" it'll be offering updates on soon, as well as some gameplay changes coming when the Rainbow Six Siege Operation North Star release date rolls around.

The May post doesn't tell us what Ubisoft's next ''top issues blog' update will look at in any detail, but we do have an idea of the topics the studio will be exploring. First up, the devs will be offering an update "explaining next steps" for MMR rollback - a feature introduced way back in Y4S1, which was implemented to "help reduce the long-term impact cheaters may have on other players' seasonal rankings". Essentially, the mechanic rolls back any gains and losses in MMR made by all players in matches in which a banned cheater participated for that particular season.

It's not clear what Ubisoft has in mind in the way of next steps for the feature, whether that means some changes - significant, minor, or otherwise. But, it's a pretty complex system that means balancing various different factors (such as how many matches' worth of MMR to roll back) to get right, as you can see in the dev post explaining it, so it's possible the studio's got some tweaks in mind going forward to optimise it further.

Rainbow Six Siege Thunderbird - everything we know

Want to know more about the newest Rainbow Six Siege operator - Thunderbird? Operation North Star is just around the corner, and with it brings some rather big changes. The most important change with every new update is every new operator joining the roster for both the attackers and defenders, and this update is no exception.

Mina 'Thunderbird' Sky is the newest defender and her ability is a cross between Jäger's ADS and Doc's Stim Shot, in that it's a deployable healing station that fires healing darts at any player wandering close to it. It's a bit early to tell just how powerful this will be in the meta, but there are certainly early signs that she could overtake Doc as the best defender healer in the game.

You can see for yourself once the test servers go live on May 25, and the Rainbow Six Siege North Star release date is not far off, but for now here is everything you need to know about Rainbow Six Siege's new operator, from Thunderbird's loadout options, her stats, and all the quirks about the Kona Station.
