Ubisoft announces the 'biggest transformation in Rainbow Six Siege's history' for later this year, so big they're adding an 'X' to the name—But don't call it a sequel

Ubisoft has announced a "new era" for Rainbow Six Siege, which will apparently begin in March with a showcase devoted to the relaunch-slash-reboot of the game as Rainbow Six Siege X. "The R6 team has been working tirelessly to bring to life the biggest transformation in the game's history," reads Ubisoft's announcement post, "and its purpose is to reinforce Rainbow Six Siege's position at the top of tactical first-person shooters by introducing new ways to play, deepened tactical gameplay, refined game feel and major upgrades all around."..

The first season of year 10 introduces a new meta-defining operator, Rauora, capable of controlling the flow combat with her deployable bullet proof doors, an elite skin for operator Aruni and the full release of the reputation system which rewards or sanctions players based on their season behaviour.

Ubisoft has confirmed that it's about to reinvent its premiere tactical shooter: Rainbow Six Siege X is finally on the way. The studio describes it as "a new era" for the game, with a suite of upgrades across the entire experience. Siege is turning ten years old this year, and Ubisoft is celebrating the milestone with a new season, operator, and this sequel in all but name.

Rainbow Six Siege coach and manager 'ejected' from the $3 million Invitational after raging like big babies

Rainbow Six: Siege esports team M80's head coach, Matheus 'Budega' Figueiredo, and team manager, Igor ‘Vivas‘ Vivas, have been "ejected" from the 2025 Six Invitational by Ubisoft, following an "altercation" that was partly caught on camera. The incident occurred after M80 had lost a match 2-1 to DarkZero Esports, and saw Budega shouting at members of the DarkZero team and at one stage having to be physically restrained from continuing to remonstrate with one of the players...
