Development Update #2

Incoming transmission for all our agents!

The second devlog has just dropped. Today, we'll be showcasing the brand-new M83/93 Magnum Revolver, shaders, AI behavior, and a good amount of updates for Chapter 2!



[h3]๐Ÿ’ฅ M83/93 Magnum Revolver[/h3]

As a special agent with complex training, it never hurts to have an extra arsenal. The gunsmiths (in this case, us) have introduced a new batch of crates containing something reminiscent of the Wild West.

You got it! The new Serbian weapon is coming to A.A.U. Black Site. This powerful .357 Magnum revolver will provide players with some (false) sense of security while exploring the forests and surrounding areas of Uzovnica.

Note: This weapon replaces the placeholder revolver currently seen in-game.



[h3]๐Ÿ› ๏ธ New Material Shader [/h3]

Gears are always on to make the experience of our players an enjoyable one. Hence, we've written a new material shader for surfaces that uses noise to break up tiling and improve overall visual quality.

The visual cue from below should make this update easier to understand!



[h3]๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Dynamic Rain [/h3]

Second chapter is heating up so much that some rain is needed for cooling. We are working on a dynamic rain system with droplets that react realistically while interacting with different material types and positioning.

[h3]๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Chapter 2 Lighting [/h3]

To improve the visual standard and atmosphere in Chapter 2, we've upgraded our lighting system to a fully dynamic screen-space global illumination system that aims for accurate and responsive indirect lighting with detailed secondary shadows.

If you remember our first Development Update #1, we talked a little bit about parts of our lighting system in there as well.

[h3]๐Ÿค– AI Behavior: Thug Enemies[/h3]

You are on a dangerous mission so danger must be present. We made several adjustments to how the in-game NPCs/AI behave to better simulate combat.

The new thug enemies use different tactics compared to the ones players are used to. These enemies will check any possible hiding spot, securing corners as they pass by.

Note: Due to the limitations for the GIF conversion and for us to not sacrifice a lot of quality, the showcase here is normally shorter than the actual 34-second clip. Don't hesitate to join our Discord to check the original one out if you are interested!

Development Update #1

Welcome to our very first development update, where this bunch of Serbian friends are going to be talking about the changes that have made it to A.A.U. Black Site recently.

As mentioned in the past, we are continuing to improve the system so that you can feel like an actual special agent that is fighting for his life in a fresh and mysterious territory. You already know, Uzovnica!

In today's development post, let's dive into the radio voice overhaul, new armory and animation updates, Tugo rework, and last but not least, new story beats to get you more immersed with what is exactly happening in this strange place.



[h3]Armory and Animations Overhaul[/h3]



More weapons, more fun. Enjoy 20 new additions, each with unique characteristics, sound, and recoil profile. By class, we have:

  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ 5 Pistols,
  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ 9 Rifles,
  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ 3 Sub-machine guns,
  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ 2 Shotguns,
  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ 1 Bolt action.

Oh, and you can of course try all of them in the shooting range!



There are a few more adjustments that have been made for the first-person experience, such as distinct firing audio, reload timing, and camera response per weapon to improve identity and feedback. The team is really curious to hear what our players think about them all.



[h3]Catch A' Ride: Tugo![/h3]

Our hero vehicle, now known as the Tugo, has gotten a complete rework, both in looks and functionality, matching our improved quality standards. There are many Tugo 45S used by the police and civilians scattered in the Serbian environments of A.A.U. Black Site but only one 55EX will accompany the protagonist.



๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Gameplay improvements:

- New interactions with the Tugo such as physics based doors.
- New introductory task for the Tugo Driveability pass.
- Throttle curves, suspension, and camera shake rebalanced for readable control at low and high speeds.

Not only that, but this update delivers more atmospheric visuals with the use of new real time indirect lighting solutions, rebalanced for deeper contrast and cleaner visibility in dark areas, improving scene readability without overexposing key details.



[h3]New Voice Acting[/h3]

There is a new voice being used throughout the radio.

The previous voice lines have been fully replaced, and a new script and performance set have lead to both a cohesive storytelling and stronger character presence.

Before ending our devlog, let's take a look at what else has made its presence known in Uzovnica:

"A new anomaly encounter; he only hunts when heโ€™s unseen. Keep him in your sight, turn away, or lose line of sight and he rushes you. Hold his gaze and inch your way to safety."
