This 30-min demo focuses on the start of the game and features new gameplay not yet seen on any showfloor demo, as well as brand-new content that never existed in the original Yooka-Laylee![/p][p][/p][p]PLEASE NOTE that if you gave the demo a whirl over the weekend, an updated version has gone live today fixing some of the performance and frame rate issues people were experiencing. The demo will take players through the sliding doors of the Hivory Towers and all the way until they are about to enter their first Grand Tome. Yooka-Laylee developers Playtonic are laying off staff across their operations, as they wrestle with what they call “a period of profound change in how games are created and financed”. It’s not clear what these "profound changes" are, exactly – soaring budgets? Evergreen service games drinking up all the oxygen? Falling interest in the genre of mascot platformer Playtonic are best known for? Either way, the outcome is that a bunch of artists, game designers, narrative designers, producers and UI or UX people are now looking for work.

[h3]So what IS Yooka-Replaylee?[/h3]

Remastered, remade, remixed, this is the definitive version of Yooka-Laylee! With shiny, new 4K graphics and visual effects, a brand-new control scheme, entirely new moves and the ability to swiftly chain moves together, it's a quicker, slicker platforming experience.

Yooka-Replaylee builds on our nearing 10 years of growth and experience since making Yooka-Laylee, as well as taking on board a whole bunch of community feedback over the years, it's jam-packed with brand new content that we think platforming fans new and old will love!

Each world in Yooka-Replaylee has been expanded by default, no longer requiring players to do that themselves, giving us the opportunity to fill each world with new challenges, new collectibles, and new THINGS added to every corner!

[h3]Quills![/h3]

Quills have new purpose in Yooka-Replaylee! Now, each world has its own Quill colour, and with all of Yooka & Laylee's abilities now unlocked from the start, Trowzer has had to up his game and provide some new goodies! Quills can be traded to Trowzer for things like level exclusive cosmetic items and health/energy upgrades!

[h3]Pagies![/h3]

Pagies are your pathway to new worlds! And there's new exciting ways to collect them in each world too! Pagies will give you the option to unlock new worlds when you gather enough of them, so make sure you're checking every nook and cranny for a potential Pagie challenge!

[h3]Q.U.I.D.S![/h3]

And while we're on the subject of challenges! Coinelius is the new ghostly piggy bank character that offers a variety of opportunities to perform platforming prowess in exchange Q.U.I.D.S! These shiny golden coins are dotted around every level, the more you save up, the more you can spend at Vendi! Vendi has a whoooole bunch of Tonics for sale, ranging from cosmetics, to cool new screen visual effects, new abilities like coin magnetisation, gameplay modifiers if you fancy more of a challenge and even things like a super hero landing for Yooka! You can mix and match these Tonics to create your own platforming playstyle!

There's some other colours of Q.U.I.D.S challenges spread across each world too! Look out for Red and Green coins to see what they throw at you!

We're really excited about Q.U.I.D.S! They may look like simple, static coins floating in the world, but keep an eye on them becuase there may be a few to throw you off... Okay, there definitely is... look out for Q.U.I.D.S that avoid you, chase you, and more!

This is just a small handful of the changes we've made, we've also recently announced that Rextro has got entirely new Rextro's Arcade levels! It's safe to say there's really no area of the game we haven't looked at through a fresh lens to try and improve things!

Yooka-Replaylee is our love letter TO our love letter to classic 3D platformers and we know you're gonna love it! Stay tuned for a 2025 release date!

Rextro is back with a brand new look and brand new challenges in Yooka-Replaylee!
