This 30-min demo focuses on the start of the game and features new gameplay not yet seen on any showfloor demo, as well as brand-new content that never existed in the original Yooka-Laylee![/p][p][/p][p]PLEASE NOTE that if you gave the demo a whirl over the weekend, an updated version has gone live today fixing some of the performance and frame rate issues people were experiencing. And further updates, including localisation, will be coming throughout the week![/p][p][/p][p]We'd also like to emphasize that the demo has not been optimised for the SteamDeck. Learn how Yooka and Laylee came into possession of the One Book and play through the stunning crystal cave levels built to offer a fully tutorialised experience. The demo will take players through the sliding doors of the Hivory Towers and all the way until they are about to enter their first Grand Tome. Players will also get a taste of the new Rextro’s Arcade. Save data from the demo will transfer onto the full game at launch. [/p][p][/p][p]And don't forget to wishlist! Yooka-Laylee developers Playtonic are laying off staff across their operations, as they wrestle with what they call “a period of profound change in how games are created and financed”. It’s not clear what these "profound changes" are, exactly – soaring budgets? Evergreen service games drinking up all the oxygen? Falling interest in the genre of mascot platformer Playtonic are best known for? Either way, the outcome is that a bunch of artists, game designers, narrative designers, producers and UI or UX people are now looking for work.

[h3]So what IS Yooka-Replaylee?[/h3]

Remastered, remade, remixed, this is the definitive version of Yooka-Laylee! With shiny, new 4K graphics and visual effects, a brand-new control scheme, entirely new moves and the ability to swiftly chain moves together, it's a quicker, slicker platforming experience.

Yooka-Replaylee builds on our nearing 10 years of growth and experience since making Yooka-Laylee, as well as taking on board a whole bunch of community feedback over the years, it's jam-packed with brand new content that we think platforming fans new and old will love!

Each world in Yooka-Replaylee has been expanded by default, no longer requiring players to do that themselves, giving us the opportunity to fill each world with new challenges, new collectibles, and new THINGS added to every corner!

[h3]Quills![/h3]

Quills have new purpose in Yooka-Replaylee! Now, each world has its own Quill colour, and with all of Yooka & Laylee's abilities now unlocked from the start, Trowzer has had to up his game and provide some new goodies! Quills can be traded to Trowzer for things like level exclusive cosmetic items and health/energy upgrades!

[h3]Pagies![/h3]

Pagies are your pathway to new worlds! And there's new exciting ways to collect them in each world too! Pagies will give you the option to unlock new worlds when you gather enough of them, so make sure you're checking every nook and cranny for a potential Pagie challenge!

[h3]Q.U.I.D.S![/h3]

And while we're on the subject of challenges! Coinelius is the new ghostly piggy bank character that offers a variety of opportunities to perform platforming prowess in exchange Q.U.I.D.S! These shiny golden coins are dotted around every level, the more you save up, the more you can spend at Vendi! Vendi has a whoooole bunch of Tonics for sale, ranging from cosmetics, to cool new screen visual effects, new abilities like coin magnetisation, gameplay modifiers if you fancy more of a challenge and even things like a super hero landing for Yooka! You can mix and match these Tonics to create your own platforming playstyle!

There's some other colours of Q.U.I.D.S challenges spread across each world too! Look out for Red and Green coins to see what they throw at you!

We're really excited about Q.U.I.D.S! They may look like simple, static coins floating in the world, but keep an eye on them becuase there may be a few to throw you off... Okay, there definitely is... look out for Q.U.I.D.S that avoid you, chase you, and more!

This is just a small handful of the changes we've made, we've also recently announced that Rextro has got entirely new Rextro's Arcade levels! It's safe to say there's really no area of the game we haven't looked at through a fresh lens to try and improve things!

Yooka-Replaylee is our love letter TO our love letter to classic 3D platformers and we know you're gonna love it! Stay tuned for a 2025 release date!

Rextro is back with a brand new look and brand new challenges in Yooka-Replaylee!

Take on Rextro's new platforming puzzles across 8 upgraded arcade machines within the worlds of Yooka-Replaylee, with new Megabyte enemies to defeat or outsmart and shiny new levels to beat them in!

Reach the end goal and collect medals with Rextro to earn Pagies for Yooka and Laylee to progress through the game!

Rextro's Arcade is just one of the MANY areas of Yooka-Replaylee that's been revisited and remade! Stay tuned as we share more over the coming weeks!

Hello fine people, platformer enjoyers and dare I say it... friends?

I come with glad tidings and a new video for you! I (Steve, hello!) sat down with Gavin Price, Supreme Glorious Leader Game Director on Yooka-Replaylee for a bit of a chin-wag about the game, the progress we're making and some of the key differences both IN this demo that we shared with media and also some of the changes that have happened SINCE this demo was first shown!

Some of the topics covered while I fumble around with a controller, trying to listen to my boss...

- Coinelius' coins' new colour — Coinelius, the helpful piggy bank and new character edition to Yooka-Replaylee has already undergone a change with his beautiful platinum coins having stolen the golden hues of the Quill because...

- Level-specific Quills — Having given up their golden coat to Coinelius' coins, Quills now come in a variety of colours as they become specific to the level the player is currently in. Why is this? Because our crafty salesman Trowzer has gotten pickier over the years.

-Trowzer's new wares — The role of Trowzer is fundamentally changing in Yooka-Replaylee with a whole new set of wares to sell. What these wares are we are not ready to reveal quite yet.

- All moves from the beginning — In one of the bigger changes to the game, and why the role of our beloved salesman has changed, is that players will have access to the full arsenal of Yooka and Laylee's moves from the start of the game.

- New Pagie pieces collectible — A new collectible has joined the roster in the form of Pagie pieces. Collecting these will unlock additional bonuses.

- Levels available in their "expanded" stage from the start — In another change to the original Yooka-Laylee, levels will now be available in their entirety from the very start.

We'll be showing off some new content in the New Year, as well as bringing you a wrap-up of what we've revealed so far since June in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for that!

Also worth mentioning, that YES, we're going to discount Yooka-Replaylee if you own Yooka-Laylee (On Steam, and working with the console platforms to ensure this too) and YES we are still listening to your feedback on what we reveal so far, I can't promise anything as we're all very busy bees but as the Community Manager, I'm seeing your comments and feeding back everything!
