Prelaunch update #1

We are in sight of launch at last! The remaining work before this ship can set sail is:

  • Polishing James Riskinner and Joseph Bannister campaigns: these require about a week of extra work each to entwine historical accuracies and fictional-but-viable mission details.
  • Tuning real-time battles enemy behaviors and missions: architecturally complete, and implemented in a way where battle AI can be loaded in externally (similar to OpenTTD).
  • Enhancing turn-based combat aesthetics: just doesn't POP, yet.
  • Continuing to bolster the audio and musical score.
  • Finish Steam publish process: just missing promotional trailer and builds. The build pipeline is mostly ready.

More updates will be posted as we start getting through these remaining items, as well as posts on the longer-term roadmap and vision for this game!

Here's a sneak-peak of how the campaigns and QA is progressing:

QA

Automated-playthroughs amass a collection of screenshots showing how the game is scaling to support each resolution and allowing defects to be easily found! This also allows testing to occur continuously so as the campaigns update and additions and improvements are implemented the testing playthroughs run again and again and let the entire game be very efficiently evaluated manually. This is critical for indie devs because number of campaigns x different resolutions is a lot of area to cover!

An endless cycle of proof-reading, coherence, continuity, accuracy, proof-reading, coherence, continuity, accuracy, proof-reading, coherence, continuity, accuracy, proof-reading, coherence, continuity, accuracy, proof-reading, coherence, continuity, accuracy, proof-reading, coherence, continuity, accuracy!
