Warhammer Survivors News

Cleave swarms of Skaven with Gotrek’s legendary axe: Zangrom-Thaz.

[p]A vast array of weapons await you in Warhammer Survivors; an entire cache of blades, bolts and magical weapons. But, sometimes, the tried and tested swing of an axe is all you need to cleave the multitudinous hordes of Skaven and not-yet-announced enemy factions!  [/p][p]Today, we’re delving into the Fyrestorm Greataxe and Gotrek Gurnisson’s axe: Zangrom-Thaz. Watch the video below to see it swing into action! [/p][p]Tried and tested? YES.  [/p][p]Mundane? ABSOLUTELY NOT![/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Fyrestorm Greataxe
[p]Fyrestorm Greataxes are wielded by Fyreslayers, a mercenary lodge of Duardin who form themselves into warrior-cults, scouring the Realms for fragments of ur-gold to reclaim the power of their fallen god. [/p][p]In Warhammer Survivors, the Fyrestorm Greataxe swings around the player in a brutal arc, increasing in speed and strength and changing direction as the player moves. The axe only stops swinging once a certain amount of damage has been unleashed! [/p][p]An axe needs some heft, so if you’re the sort to sit around idly, expect a reduction in the damage the Fyrestorm Greataxe inflicts. Those Skaven won’t cleave themselves![/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Zangrom-Thaz
[p]Evolving the Fyrestorm Greataxe calls Gotrek Gurnisson* to your side, unleashing the unbridled fury of the legendary Zangrom-Thaz. Given the community’s reception to Gotrek, he needs little introduction. If you’d like to learn more about Gotrek, read our article here.  [/p][p]Unlike the Fyrestorm Greataxe, Zangrom-Thaz swings around the player constantly, whether you remain still or not. However, if you choose to charge into the hordes of enemies, Gotrek’s mighty axe speeds up, leaving scores of charred and decapitated Skaven in its fiery wake. That’s one way to deal with a vermin problem!  [/p][p]*If you’re playing as Gotrek, he won’t spawn a clone of himself; the realms can't handle that type of power!
[/p][p]That’s all for today, but we’ll be back with more weapon and character highlights in the future.  [/p]

Enemies sighted!

[p]We’ve been informed that this Steam article has not only been infested with Tyranids, but a vile clan of Ratmen. Not any old rats, no, these rats are bigger than your subway variety. Oh, did we mention that they also walk on two legs AND brandish weapons? [/p][p]Read on to learn about our first enemy factions coming to Warhammer Survivors.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Just who are these verminous rodents, then?
[p]Scurrying beneath the earth is a race of perfidious Ratmen: the Skaven. Deep within their rotten warrens, they scheme and conduct all manner of twisted experiments, combining machinery, magic and mutation!  [/p][p]Like boils bursting from an infection, the Skaven have erupted from their swollen burrows to unleash hideous mutants and maniacal machines upon the Mortal Realms. It is a portent of doom; a great verminous horde skittering out from the dank darkness to bring ruination and acquire vast caches of precious Warpstone. [/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Shadows scuttling in the dark...
[p]There are a whole manner of different children of the Great Horned Rat, from the lowly Clanrat to the mighty Rat Ogor, grafted with rusted blades and Warpfire guns. More await you in-game.
[/p][p][/p]
How do their pixelated counterparts play?
[p][/p][p]Any cunning Skaven Clawlord will throw countless bodies at any problem, and in the case of Warhammer Survivors, that problem is you.  [/p][p]They have a vast menagerie of minions to send your way, such as the Rat Ogor. These hulking masses are infused full of toxic serums designed to embolden and drive them to a rabid frenzy. [/p][p]So it’s only right that our cruel game designers do the same: when a Rat Ogor’s health is low, it will unleash its ‘Warp Fury’, increasing its resistance to being pushed back, as well as improving its power and movement speed in what one could describe as the last seconds of its brutal life. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]

[p][/p]
What are these insatiable horrors?
[p]The Tyranids are Xenos bioforms who have invaded the galaxy from beyond the darkness of the void. Armoured in dense chitin and armed with lashing tendrils, razor-sharp talons and horrifying, symbiotic weaponry, this Xenos threat is not to be trifled with.  [/p][p]Amassing in a swarm of horrific bioforms large and small, the Tyranids descend upon a planet, working as one in a single, all-consuming mass. A powerful Hive Mind governs their every move – and adaptation – driving them to new heights of frenzy until every shred of biomass has been utterly consumed.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Breaking intel: additional bio-forms spotted!
[p]Though the great devourer is made manifest in pixel form, beware... this is still an insatiable threat more than ready to swarm and devour you (not necessarily in that order). We revealed quite a few Tyranids in the Reveal Trailer, but there are more monstrous bioforms awaiting you in-game, each adapted to kill and consume your biomass in a multitude of ways… \[insert horrific appendage here] 😨.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
How do their pixelated counterparts play?
[p][/p][p]Remember how we mentioned the Hive Mind before? Well, this turns up in the form of their ‘Synapse’ ability.  [/p][p]Certain Synapse enemies (such as the Hive Tyrant) will confer a buff to their brood, making them faster and more resilient. On the other hand, take these powerful Synapse creatures out, and the smaller bioforms will suffer a debuff, temporarily freezing them in a weakened, panicked state. [/p][p]This is just one trait at the Tyranids’ disposal, but there’s more! We’re looking at you, Von Ryan’s Leaper.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]These two enemy factions are the first, but not the last turning up in Warhammer Survivors. What’s next? Well, you’ll just have to check back when we have more news to shout about, but in the meantime, share your speculations over on the forums (and our Discord) about which enemies you think will make an appearance next. [/p][p]Right, we’ve got Tyranids to set ablaze, and Skaven Gnawholes to plug – see you next time! [/p][p][/p]

First Survivors Revealed

[p]Yes, you heard right, Imperial Citizen, we will allow you a few minutes from your shift in the Hive Manufactorum to read the latest Warhammer Survivors news.

Warhammer Survivors thrusts you into the endless war of Warhammer 40,000’s Grim Dark future and Warhammer Age of Sigmar’s Mortal Realms, but no – that doesn’t mean Malum Caedo is going to hop through a Realmgate and blast away a bunch of Skaven hordes (and if you truly think so, report to your nearest Inquisitor to have your Warp-addled minds examined). [/p][p]Today, we’re going to take a quick look at all of the characters we’ve shown so far. 👀[/p][p]You last saw some of them in our Reveal Trailer, gunning down hordes of Tyranids and Skaven. Now, they're here for an additional exposé, just be careful they don't mistake you for one of those swarming masses. [/p][p]Incidentally, if you haven't performed your daily (and mandatory) watching of our Reveal Trailer yet, click below 👇[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
First up, Warhammer 40,000’s defenders of the Imperium:
[p][/p]
Malum Caedo, Sternguard Veteran
[p][/p][p]It would be fair to say that we're MORE than a little biased when it comes to the Boltgun-firing, heretic-purging Space Marine that is Malum Caedo. He is the titular protagonist of Auroch Digital's other Warhammer game(s) Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun (and now Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2).  [/p][p]As an Adeptus Astartes of the Ultramarines Chapter's 1st Company, Malum was dispatched to the Forge World of Graia to quell a Chaos incursion of Daemons and Chaos-worshipping scum. [/p][p]Given that Malum is a Sternguard Veteran, he has an aptitude for a vast arsenal of different weapons. In Warhammer Survivors, he's parked his signature Boltgun to get up close and personal by entering the fray with his Chainsword, which unleashes horizontal serrated attacks – perfect for eviscerating multiple enemies in one fell \[serrated] swoop.  [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Trooper Kozlowski, Cadian Shock Trooper
[p][/p][p]Unable to call upon the powerful Adeptus Astartes for every conflict, the Imperium's high command must rely on the tithe of Imperial guardsmen to fight their wars. These regiments are the Hammer of the Emperor, ready to push back the horrors of the universe or die in droves against unstoppable waves of Xenos, Heretics and the unknown.  [/p][p]Trooper Kozlowski, a Cadian Shock Trooper, represents the backbone of the Astra Militarum. He's a tenacious soldier armed with only his faith and the belief that his lasgun will do the trick.[/p][p]But, as a Cadian Shock Trooper, Kozlowski doesn't fight alone. His starting weapon, the lasgun, fires at the nearest enemy, but as it levels up, squadmates join his side, unleashing a barrage of small arms fire to whittle down the swarms.[/p][p]Now, if only he had a trooper who could wield something a little more... heavy duty? 👀  [/p][p]
[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Brother Luca, Space Marine Intercessor
[p][/p][p]If Trooper Kozlowski represents the desperate determination of the Astra Militarum, then Brother Luca, a Space Marine Intercessor, represents the might of the Adeptus Astartes, colloquially known as the Space Marines and more rarely, the Angels of Death.[/p][p]Brother Luca is an entirely new character created for Warhammer Survivors (whose namesake might be a reference to our game's roots). Like Malum Caedo, Brother Luca fights under the banner of the Ultramarines, starting with a Boltgun in his sibling's stead.[/p][p]While the iconic gun is powerful enough to blast Tyranid termagants apart, the evolved version of the weapon, the Heavy Bolter, unleashes a stream of unrelenting firepower, taking on the toughest of Tyranid swarms and larger bioforms.[/p][p]
[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
For the Warhammer Age of Sigmar roster, our first revealed champions are warriors of renown, relentless in their fight against the skittering verminous Ratmen.
[p][/p]
Neave Blacktalon
[p][/p][p]Neave Blacktalon, a living weapon of Sigmar, needs little incentive to dispatch the God-King's enemies. Like a tornado, Neave storms violently into battle in a torrent of whirling axe swings, never accepting defeat until her duty has been fulfilled. She often fights alongside her comrades, the Blacktalons (you can catch a glimpse of them in the Reveal Trailer). [/p][p]Now, her ire has been turned in the direction of the Skaven, and she’s all too ready to do her duty for the God-king, hunting down and eradicating the Verminkind, starting each run with the iconic Whirlwind Axes – eventually evolving into whirling blades of arcing lightning, zapping Skaven indiscriminately! [/p][p]You can run, but you can’t hide (especially if Neave catches up with you!)* [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]*In Warhammer Survivors, enemies will run AT you, not away - lucky Neave! [/p][p][/p]
Sharynn Azurwrath, Stormcast Eternal Vanquisher
[p][/p][p]Sharynn Azurwrath is a Stormcast Eternal Vanquisher. Her duty to Sigmar is evident by her title. [/p][p]Vanquishers are warriors who expertly wield two-handed Celestial Greatswords, deftly able to parry and deliver fatal flurries of strikes. When they aren’t out destroying the forces of Chaos, Death and Destruction, they meditate upon the shard of Celestium Realmstone embedded in their blade until they and their blade are one.  [/p][p]Sharynn starts battle with a Grandblade, which, when levelled up, unleashes a huge circular swing, cleaving vast swathes of enemies. Don’t believe us? Look below! 👇[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Gotrek Gurnisson - the Realmslayer
[p][/p][p]Who would be better to dispatch the Skaven’s lumbering warpstone-twisted monsters than the last Dwarf? [/p][p]In the long-lost world-that-was, Gotrek travelled the world, slaying monsters in the hope he would be rewarded with a valiant death to atone for a mysterious sin. Now trampling through the Mortal Realms, he seeks a new purpose – slaying any monster foolish enough to stand in his way.  [/p][p]Well, good news for Gotrek, we have a BUNCH OF ‘EM![/p][p]Gotrek wields the legendary axe Zangrom-Thaz, attainable in Warhammer Survivors by evolving it from a Fyreslayer Axe. How? Well, you’ll just have to find out when the game launches in 2026. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p] [/p][p]If you think these warriors alone will be enough to stand against the horrors spat out by the 41st Millennium and the Mortal Realms, then think again! Waiting in the wings is an entire roster of characters to be called in as reinforcements (and revealed).  [/p][p]You know the drill, Survivor. Follow our social channels, join our official Discord and await further orders with more exciting news and reveals![/p][p][/p]

THANK YOU from Auroch Digital

[p]We’ve interrogated the astropaths. We’ve consulted the Celestial Orreries of Azyr. The results are in, and the fight against the swarms looks promising! [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Hail Survivors, [/p][p] [/p][p]We’ll get right into it and start by saying: WHAT AN INCREDIBLE WEEK![/p][p][/p][p]It’s always a fraught moment when something you’ve been working on in secret is finally revealed to the world. As massive Warhammer fans ourselves, we were fairly confident people would like what we’ve been cooking, but seeing the community’s enthusiasm and excitement following our reveal surpassed all our expectations! [/p][p][/p][p]So, thank you. Thank you for sharing our trailer, your hype, and your comments – it means a great deal to the team! [/p][p][/p][p]If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already seen our Reveal Trailer but... go on… watch it again. You’ve earned it!  [/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Wallpapers
[p]To celebrate the recent reveal, we’ve bundled up a collection of wallpapers from the Reveal Trailer for you to decorate your setups with while you wait for more news. Download them here. [/p][p](The animation artwork was created by M3rØj. You can see more of his work over on ArtStation.) [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p] [/p]
So, what’s next?
[p]We know you’re hungry for news, and last week’s reveal was just the beginning! We have a great deal to show, including new characters, enemies and more, so stay tuned! [/p][p][/p][p]In the meantime, we’ve gathered a number of the community’s frequently asked questions and answered what we’re able to at the moment. [/p][p] [/p]
FAQ
[p] [/p]
Is Warhammer Survivors coming to other consoles/mobile?
[p]We haven’t announced any other platforms at the moment, but we've heard the requests to bring this game to consoles/mobile.  [/p][p] [/p]
Why isn’t this game a Vampire Survivors DLC?
[p]Because this is a game we want to make!  [/p][p]Seriously, though, the universes of Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar can't be contained in a DLC.  [/p][p]Warhammer Survivors will be crammed with content, including tons of iconic characters, enemies, hobby references (cough, cough Nuln Oil) and more. It's built on the foundation of Vampire Survivors, but every single character, stage, enemy, powerup and secret has been built from scratch to create an experience that exists alongside the traditional Vampire Survivors experience. It's been great to build on Poncle's tech, and their guidance was a fantastic resource for us to preserve that fundamental Survivors-experience while also putting our own spin on it. [/p][p] [/p]
When is Warhammer Survivors launching?
[p]Warhammer Survivors launches in 2026 and we have lots more to show! [/p][p] [/p]
Are Tyranids and Skaven the only enemies in the game?
[p]Nope! They are just the ones we’ve shown so far. What enemy factions are you hoping to see? [/p][p] [/p]
Can I play as a Space Marine in the Age of Sigmar universe?
[p]That sounds a little bit too much like the Ruinous Powers to us! [/p][p]Warhammer Survivors thrusts you into the endless war of Warhammer 40,000’s 41st Millenium and Warhammer Age of Sigmar’s Mortal Realms, and those Universes have enough happening in them without us meddling even further. So, no Malum Caedo isn’t going to hop through a Realmgate and blast away a bunch of Skaven hordes. [/p][p]Both universes have their own character rosters, weapons, enemies, and stages, each offering unique challenges and progression trees. That said, you will see some shared weapons across universes. We’re confident that both universes will keep you busy and freshly challenged (and have you spend endless hours of your days playing. Muhaha!)
 [/p]
Can I play as character X they are awesome!?
[p]You’re right, there are awesome characters in the rich tapestry of Warhammer lore. The only characters we’ve announced so far are those in our trailer (and if you’re eagle-eyed, in our game art). Watch this space. 👀[/p][p]Are there any characters from Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar you’re hoping to see? [/p]
