Devblog #5 - Your character and you
Hello Farseekers!

Let's take a closer look at character creation in Farever and how your class choice shapes your gameplay from the very beginning.
From unique class mechanics to flexible roles and deep progression, your character evolves to truly fit your playstyle.

When creating your character, beyond the many customization options, you’ll choose a class that defines your initial gameplay direction and unique mechanics. Your class grants access to specific class skills and determines which weapons and gear you can equip.

Each class features its own mechanics that make its gameplay truly unique:

  • Warriors build rage by attacking enemies and spend it to unleash their signature skills.
  • Mages use their signature abilities to generate Spark Flows, which empower their spells.
  • Rogues rely on chaining combos to generate combo points and deliver deadly finishing blows.
  • Priests gain access to special prayers, whose effects change depending on the impact of your previously used skills.

And this is only a glimpse of what your chosen class brings to the table. Each one opens up many more possibilities as you progress.
Role building
RPGs are all about shaping your role, and while Farever allows you to be alone farseeker, we haven’t forgotten the classic trio that defines many RPG experiences.

Just because you're a priest doesn't mean you can't tank damage and hit hard.

Tank, Healer, and DPS roles can all be adopted organically through your choice of skills and gear. Each role is designed to be engaging and flexible, offering a wide range of tools to suit different playstyles and preferences. A healer won’t simply restore health with a single click, they may need to place healing totems in strategic locations or carefully time their spells for maximum impact.
A tank won’t just stand still with a shield raised, but will manage cooldowns to mitigate damage efficiently and keep enemies focused on them by maintaining aggro.

There are many ways to play each of the three roles. The most important thing is finding the approach that best suits you and your team, depending on the situation.
Level up
Farever is built to give you the freedom to create your own build. Every weapon is unique, and your character becomes even more distinct thanks to your class, which adds an extra layer of identity.

As you level up, you’ll further personalize your character through passives, skill choices, and talents. You’ll also be able to refine your abilities using Masteries, which modify your class skills to better match your preferred playstyle.

The same weapon can be used by different classes, but each class’s mechanics make it feel entirely different. This hybrid system allows a single class to be played in multiple ways depending on weapon choice. Likewise, the same weapon can feel completely new when wielded by another class.

Devblog #4 - Instances ⚔️
Hello Farseekers!
Looking for challenges beyond the standard regions? Look no further!
In this blog, we’re diving into Instances: dedicated, high-intensity parts of the game designed to test your skills, teamwork, and mastery of Farever’s combat and exploration mechanics.

For tougher challenges than those found in the overworld, and if you think you are ready to face them, you’ll want to venture into Instances.

Instances represent the pinnacle of what each sub-region has to offer: a condensed and demanding experience featuring stronger versions of creatures you’ve already encountered. You’ll also deepen your understanding of the region, as platforming mechanics discovered in the region are reused and expanded to help you navigate these hostile environments.

Instances are designed for parties of one to four players. This smaller group size allows us to create more engaging and carefully crafted encounters than traditional large-scale raids that focus solely on dealing as much damage as possible.
Boss fight
Some Instances also offer a different kind of challenge. Instead of exploring an entire dungeon, you’ll face a single, dangerous boss waiting for you in their lair.

These bosses require strategy to overcome, with multiple phases that change how the fight unfolds. For example, Lady Bee, the leader of the Apix Clan, is one of the most powerful enemies you’ll encounter early in your journey.

[carousel][/carousel]

During her first phase, she targets players with honey bombs that destroy the honeycomb floor beneath them. You’ll need to defeat her quickly and position yourself carefully to avoid getting trapped. In her second phase, Lady Bee retreats into a newly formed cocoon that must be brought down using a familiar honey cannon introduced in a previous Instance even though, this time, it’s heavily guarded. Defeat the remaining royal guards and bring the queen down.

And these are only two of her phases. Other tricks are still for you to discover on your own…
Rewards
Of course, taking on such challenges isn’t just about proving your skill. It’s also about earning powerful rewards. Completing Instances is a reliable way to get unique gear and weapons that are stronger than what you’ll typically find, offering powerful loot or recipes to craft them yourself.

Defeating Lady Bee, for example, gives you a chance to obtain powerful gear and weapons, unlocking brand-new skills to master and providing a strong addition to your build.

Devblog #3 - More about weapons!
Hello Farseekers!
[p][/p]
In this blog, we’re exploring how weapons, classes, and the Arsenal system work together to shape your playstyle. With flexible weapon usage and a special mechanic to acquire skills. Making sure every build is truly unique.

[p]Weapons are at the heart of Farever. There are no useless weapons that you discard after fifteen minutes. Every weapon matters.
Each one comes with its own moveset and, more importantly, a collection of four fully unique skills.

No two versions of the same weapon exist, and you’ll choose your weapon based on your preferred playstyle. We designed each weapons as a character in its own right, with a unique look, distinct gameplay, and a strong identity. For exemple, Two Dual Axes will not have the same set of skills and will play differently![/p][p]
Choose the weapon that suits you best and unlock its full potential by leveling it up and equipping the best gear available.
Each weapon will level up its skills as you use it, making it stronger and longer-lasting than what you might usually expect!

[/p]
The Arsenal System
[p]

Now that you’ve been ranking up your favorite skills on your weapon, what happens if you reach a point where that weapon becomes less optimal and you don’t want to let it go?
No problem, that’s exactly what the Arsenal system is for.

Place a weapon in an Arsenal slot to assign its skills to your skill bar. Even two players using the exact same weapons can end up playing completely differently, depending on which weapon they equip as their main and which one they keep in their Arsenal.

Each weapon can be used by one or more classes, but it’s up to you to decide how to wield it. For example, a Priest might use a staff to enhance their efficiency, or opt for a sword and shield to more easily fulfill a tank role.

Between class abilities, weapon skills, passives, and the Arsenal system, the possibilities for creating your perfect build are nearly endless.
[/p]

[p]Now that you're fully geared up, we’ll talk about instances centered around boss fights, dungeons and more!

See you next time, Farseekers ✨

Devblog #2 - Combat
Hello Farseekers!

In this blog, we’re taking a closer look at Farever’s combat system and what makes each encounter dynamic and rewarding. From enemy variety and responsive controls to skill-based gameplay, combat is all about adaptation and mastery.

[p][/p][carousel][/carousel][p]
As highlighted in our previous blog, each region has its own stories and reasons to explore.
For example, the Nepsid have made their home around the lost city of Mayda, leaving their mark across the surrounding lands. In this part of the region, you will encounter Nepsid fighters, wavemongers, and other foes who will challenge you both at range and in close combat.
[/p][p]
[/p][p]Enemies will attack whenever they get the chance, and each one has its own attack patterns and abilities. Be ready to adapt your gear depending on who you’re facing. Some might use poisons where other will simply slaps you with strenght...Sometimes both![/p][p][/p]
Mastering combat
[p][/p][carousel][/carousel][p]Farever’s combat system is designed to be dynamic and easy to grasp. The game can be played using either a mouse and keyboard or a controller. [/p][p]
[/p][p]With a wide variety of weapons, each offering unique combos, you have many ways to strike your opponents. To avoid enemy attacks, you can dodge or block, but be mindful of your endurance and dash cooldowns. One way to conserve endurance and last longer in combat is by performing a perfect block, which reduces incoming damage without consuming endurance.

These controls are easy to learn and rewarding to master.

[/p]
Using your skills
[p]
[/p][p]Unlike traditional ARPGs, Farever puts skills at the heart of its combat system. By combining skills earned from your class and your weapons, along with passive abilities, you’ll be able to overcome even the deadliest dangers.[/p][p]

[/p][p]Mastering skill selection, managing cooldowns, and chaining combos to deal maximum damage will give you a significant edge in combat. You’ll also need to choose your weapons wisely, but that’s a topic for next time…[/p][p] [/p]

[p]Thank you for reading. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comments or on our Discord! In the next blog, we'll discuss more about weapons 👀[/p][p][/p][p]See you on the journey, Farseekers ✨[/p][p][/p][p]

Devblog #1- The world of Farever
Hello Farseekers!

Today we’ll talk about the world of Siagarta, its lore and how we’ve made it to create a sense of exploration!

[p][/p][carousel][/carousel][p][/p][p]After 5 centuries of exile in the remote region of Antelimbo, humans are finally free. They are rediscovering the ancient world of Siagarta, which has been largely destroyed and abandoned. [/p][p][/p][carousel][/carousel][p]
Your arrival takes place 25 years after the liberation of humans. In the meantime, several powers have emerged: the zealous army of the Crimson Rams, the fish-men Nepsids, the industrious Kobolds, the mysterious Heralds, and a handful of guilds. While the reasons for humanity's imprisonment have been largely forgotten, and those for their liberation remain unclear, all these factions are diving into a frantic period of exploration, rebuilding, and brawling.[/p][p] [/p]
Discovering a handcrafted world
[p]
[/p][p]Siagarta is a fully open world, offering a rich variety of regions, ranging from the vast green expanses of Skover to the snowy peaks of Ebral.

The world is entirely handcrafted, with nothing procedurally generated. We take pride in rewarding curiosity, designing large-scale encounters as well as small secrets and activities for you to discover.

In each subregion, you’ll find diverse activities that you can enjoy solo or with friends. Here are some of the ones you’ll usually encounter
[/p]
  • [p]Helping NPCs 🤝 Members of different factions may ask for your help with specific tasks, whether to explore new areas or advance their own goals
    [/p]
  • [p]Fighting dangerous foes ⚔️ Elite enemies await you. Stronger than their regular counterparts, they can even take on multiple players at once
    [/p]
  • [p]Seeking out ominous chests 💰 There are many chests to discover across Siagarta, but beware! They won’t open easily and may require you to overcome a challenge, whether through combat or other means
    [/p]
  • [p]And many more 👀 Each subregion is unique and offers activities tied closely to its environment[/p][p][/p]
Exploring with the proper tools
[p]
[/p][p]Mobility is a key element in Farever. As such, animations and game pace are intended to be rather fast, with no heavy physical constraints and high responsiveness.

The pleasure of moving fluidly goes hand in hand with many platforming interactions in the world, jumping, dashing, gliding, riding boars, swinging at the end of a grappling hook, or being propelled by a cannon, airstreams, geysers...

Platforming is meant to be an exploration tool that highlights the verticality of the world.[/p]

[p] And this is just a quick overview of what's to come in Farever! In our next blog we'll cover the combat system of our game, its dynamism and how to master it. [/p][p]See you on the journey, Farseekers ✨[/p][p] [/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]
