This video shows the player crafting system implemented and fully working!

Recipes will change, but the player is able to gather wood, stone, and craft a stone Pickaxe.

Added three harvestable types (tree, rock, bush). Animation for harvesting bush by hand, bush and rock spawn destructible meshes when HP reaches zero.

Harvesting is random based on tool class and tier (hatchet will gather more wood, but less rock.... Pick axe will gather more rock but less wood.... and can have tiers such as stone and iron)

Added pick axe.

stacking, drag and drop, and item de equip added to inventory system.

Added sounds when harvesting.

Here is the beginning of the harvesting system in debug mode. THis video shows the debug hitboxes confirming hits on trees, and adding wood objects to the player inventory on hitting the tree.

The hitbox sphere can be adjustted in size for different weapons, and accuracy settings.

Here is my first video for the 2024 development logs I will be doing every week regarding the project.

I have abandoned using unity because of the new pricing model, and to be honest because of limitations using unity. I have really been enjoying learning the unreal engine, and how powerful is is compared to using unity for developing games.

I am re writing the game entirely in the blueprint system, and will be using no code from any third party asset purchased.


Currently developed :

- first person character controller with custom arms model
- third person view model
- the project IS programmed entirely for multiplayer, and IS working using a server and client setup rather than using a cheap pier to pier setup.
- player inventory system and player hotbar are implemented
- testing of a player weapon in 1st person and networked view is fully working

In the next video I will be showing the harvesting system (chopping trees, and harvesting ore), animations for the hatchet, and beginning work on the crafting system.



I have not given up on what I wanted the project to be from the beginning, and I am spending the time to work on making that happen for everyone who has supported the project.

Age of Survival is being rebuilt in Unreal engine

Age of Survival is being rebuilt in the Unreal engine from the bottom up, with a focus on multiplayer from an authoritive server setup.

Complete re working with the original ideas in mind, and everything the game was supposed to be in the first place.
