[p]While shaping the visual style of Toto’s Journey, we faced an intriguing challenge: how can players “read” the world through its architecture, sensing the character of each place even before meeting its inhabitants? A magical world called for a special approach, where architecture and sorcery work as one.[/p][p]Today, we’re lifting the veil on our creative process and showing how the architectural style of Toto’s Journey comes to life.[/p][p][/p][h3]Search for style[/h3][p]
We explored a wide range of architectural movements—from Gothic and Baroque to Scandinavian minimalism and Eastern traditions—and arrived at a composite vision of medieval European architecture with a touch of Art Nouveau in the forms. This choice let us build a world that feels familiar and cozy, yet brimming with wonder.[/p][p]Our approach rests on a simple idea: architecture should feel alive and organic. That’s why we embraced smooth, natural lines. It creates the sense that buildings weren’t just constructed—they grew together with nature.[/p][p][/p][h3]Architecture[/h3][p]
At the very start of the journey, players encounter soft, warm flora; the architecture is sunlit and airy—evoking a fairy‑tale medieval Europe.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The windmill, with its flowing lines, and the stone arch showcase our method: organic forms, natural materials, and the feeling that these structures rose from the earth itself.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]As Toto travels deeper, the architecture will change to reflect the spirit of each location. From the cozy cottages of the opening lands to more grandiose structures within the heart of the magical world—every building tells its own story.[/p]
