Patch 0.1.52.5

This patch is a follow-up to our recent update which re-introduced the Giga class to Survival, you can read more about that here. Expect more tweaks as we examine the feedback that has been coming in, along with various bug fixes.

    General
  • Increased Allosaurus max bite damage from 300 to 400
  • Increased Carnotaurus max bite damage from 150 to 250
  • Increased Dilophosaurus max bite damage from 15 to 200
  • Made jumps cost significantly more stamina for Pachycephalosaurus
  • Fixed adult Pachy growth stage starting with zero damage output
  • Increased Pachy stamina drain from sprinting

    Bug Fixes
  • Fixed resting being bugged for Pachycephalosaurus
  • Fixed juvenile Giganotosaurus drink montage not looping
  • Fixed subadult Giga eating animation failing to play
  • Fixed subadult Giga male IK/animations breaking
  • Fixed some misaligned footsteps for Suchomimus
  • Fixed fade in/out time on rain mist being way too slow
  • Changed chat command warning for /grow /heal /slay
  • Subadult forms of Giga, Rex & Trike can now build nests (Subadult Rex still needs a custom nest build animation)

    General
  • Added new animation set for juvenile pachy
  • Added pachy jumping animations and ability
  • Added a new locomotion animation set for suchomimus
  • Added new camarasaurus stomp attack for... reasons.
  • Slightly increased the bleed resistance of subadult rex.
  • Turned off dust overlay and sounds from skin palette selector menu
  • Reduce volume on several ambient cues and adjusted concurrency rules for a couple of UI sounds (No more deafening crickets)
  • Adjusted ceratosaurus to be slightly faster
  • Added a check on water idle foot ripple effects to not play when water is marked as shallow.#
  • Fixed the albertosaurus model and animations.
  • Reduced volume of a few more ambient sounds (Rain is now quieter and doesn't muffle larger roars).
  • Updated rain particles to be more dense, rain speed now increases as weather conditions get more severe
  • Increased opacity of heavy rain mist effect
  • Adjusted Trike's turn in place rate so he can't murder everyone by himself.
  • Removed lots of server configuration options that no longer worked.

    Map
  • Re-added collision to rocks in the forest so players cannot hide in them
  • Fixed the legendary sodapoppin hole
  • Added distant glow lights to the antenna tower
  • Place a walkway above the giant pipes so players that jump down don't get stuck between them, but have more freedom to move around while they die.
  • Adjusted night brightness on thenyaw and V3.
  • Updated shooting stars effect to be a little brighter and more varied.
  • Added several ways down into the central river ravine.

    Bug Fixes
  • Adjusted Orodromeus and Psittacosaurus attenuation so they no longer sound right next to you when they are far away.
  • Fixed juvenile and hatchling triceratops using large interaction sounds.
  • Added a custom blueprint notify to fix Galli danger stomp impact playing while moving
  • Fixed limp animations not blending correctly for ceratosaurus
  • Fixed anamlous animation errors on the sub rex with weight paints.
  • Fixed brachiosaurus jaw placement being hung open.
  • Fixed anamolies with carno/allo bleed.
  • Fixed juvenile maia not using full-body friendly call animation
  • Fixed juvenile rex stuttering during drink animation loop.
  • Fixed spamming enter on the class select screen causing model duplication during menu transition
  • Fixed incorrect growth states being specified for pachy/sucho life cycles
  • Fixed nested players spawning as juveniles instead of actual hatchlings on pachy nests
  • Fixed a few dinosaurs being able to move/attack while standing up
  • Fixed allo physics which resulted in him taking damage if bit near his tail.
  • Fixed dryo/galli/pachy fall distances so they don't snap ankles so easily.
  • Adjusted bite spheres on sucho/trike so they can't hit things further than they're meant to.
  • Fixed a few menu background elements being slightly out of place when switching between submenus.
  • Changed the IsInMenu check to use a more generalized rule, now checks to see if owner is not a BP_PlayerController instead of trying to look specifically for BP_MenuPlayerController (which was failing before). This fixes the settings menu not updating its ambience properly when viewed outside of gameplay.
  • Fixed alignment of main menu buttons, re-compressed a couple of video sequences

    New Crash Reporter

    We added a tool to the game that will help us track down and fix crashes players experience. If you get a crash please report it using the new tool so we can take a look.

    Seizure of Power

    We have made available more commands for server admins to better moderate and tinker with their in-game population, to see the new commands type /help in chat.

    Finish the fight

    For a long time now, fights have been dictated with "Break their bone and kill them from behind" or "Hit them with enough bleed that no matter what they do, they die." This is our first step in trying to rectify that. If a bleed tick would place you under 10% health, its damage is ignored.

    Return of the Giga

    With the return of the Giga, this marks the final roster for the next two months. We know Giga is a big point of contention because he's as large as the tyrannosaur but we don't want them to just be the same creature. With his reintroduction, a wrench may be thrown into the niches of both his prey and other competing predators. We will be adjusting stats over the next week or so to get every survival dinosaur into a stable position of being able to stay alive both in solo-play and in groups. Patch 0.1.52.2

This is a quick hotfix for the major patch that released a few hours earlier. This patch forces a database wipe due to an issue related to saving characters.

Patch 0.1.52.1

From this point forward we will be merging the development and public branches. Internal testing will remain closed to the development team and QA testers to catch what we can before it goes out to the general public. The idea of this is to prevent the segregation of the playerbase due to the massive influx of players and to make it easier for everyone to enjoy the latest content.

    Skin System
  • Added first iteration of new skin colour customization menu (Survival dinos only)
  • Available colour selection varies per dinosaur, male dinos have bolder options open for male detail markings.
  • Players can save up to 8 presets per species, and these are usable on any server.
  • Hatchlings will inherit some colors from their parents.
  • Look for more options and patterns being added in future updates!

    Inverse Kinematics
  • This is still highly experimental and work in progress, so expect some bugs and unintentional hilarity.
  • First implementation of general dinosaur terrain alignment, which adjusts the character's angle to match the terrain.
  • First implemention of dinosaur foot/body IK, which connects feet to the ground and adjusts the dinosaurs spinal column to the terrain and around various models in the world.

    Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a fatal server crash related to the AI manager.
  • Fixed a fatal client crash related to loading the main menu after being disconnected.
  • Fixed the tyrannosaurus bite damage accidentally being nerfed into the grave.
  • Updated AI spawning behaviour. It will spawn more frequently and favors spawning around hungry carnivores
  • Fixed missing scar damage effects on dinosaur skin when low on health.
  • Updated carcass gore visuals, bloodiness now accurately reflects amount of food left before turning into a gore mesh.
  • Reduced intensity of eye shine in night vision.
  • Reduced intensity of night vision footprint highlight.
  • Fixed being able to jump / use scent while building nests.
  • Nests can only be placed on dirt or grass.
  • Adjusted dinosaur camera attachment location.
  • Updated camera position for adult Allosaurus.
  • Added camera effect when damaged to better communicate to the player they have been hit.
  • Added the ability to eat small gore meshes for Allosaurus.
  • Overhauled Ceratosaurus entirely. He can't beat up Allosaurus anymore.
  • Added Suchomimus to survival.
  • Added Pachycephalosaurus to survival.
  • Fixed a number of network replication issues.
  • Improved reliability of the AI Manager system.
  • Tweaked network relevancy ranges for dinosaurs & plants to reduce congestion.

    Graphics
  • Shader optimzations to dinosaur skin and grasses.
  • Fixed incorrect skin being applied to Giganotosaurus after growing to adult stage.
  • Added new updated Psittaco idle animation.
  • Psittaco threaten animation no longer plays tail shake sounds when moving.
  • Fixed bite animation for Psittaco not blending properly.
  • Fixed a couple of blood drop particles appearing overly bright
  • Dead dinosaur eyes now appear more cloudy than solid white.
  • Testing a new, more efficient fireflies effect.
  • Fixed the dirt mask on V3 blinding everyone.

    Audio
  • Fixed out of focus positional scaling on a number of sound types.
  • Reduced volume levels on adult Giga vocals.
  • Increased volume of HyperGiga distant sounds.
  • Added longer distance crossfade between near & far hyper vocal sounds.
  • Reimported the Avaceratops sound set higher resolution and with normalized volume levels.
  • Fixed a couple of Ava sound assets being stereo, updated its distant sounds.
  • Made security camera shutter click a little more subtle.

    Isle V3
  • Adjusted "herbi rock" problem area.
  • Updated collisions on giant rocks and cliffs.
  • Adjusted plant amounts that were spawning in problematic areas .
  • Players should now correctly die when they jump into the giant sinkhole of death .
  • Fixed a few swimmable zones extending too far out from their water sources.
  • Fixed large river meshes having oversized collision (can no longer drink dirt)
  • Fixed awkward collisions on docks cargo barge.
  • Adjusted food spawning volumes to have far more plants in deep forests.
  • Added a jungle swamp biome throughout the central areas of v3 and the delta river.

    Thenyaw Island
  • More optimized lighting around volcanic lava areas.
  • Fixed lava volumes not doing damage properly, are now an instant kill.
  • Fixed a massive invisible rock mesh that was blocking the southern coast area.

    User Interface
  • Added skin customization menu.
  • Added some basic hints & tips that show when you first spawn in.
  • Added ability to skip and permanently ignore the current game tip.
  • Added button in Game Settings to reset ignored game tips.
  • Added Game Setting to disable all game tips.
  • Fixed leave group option not working correctly.
  • When a group member is kicked or leaves, the group will disband if only one player is left.
  • Fix for sometimes being able to interact with chat box when escape menu is open.
  • Changed "Name" to "Server Name" on the server browser search options menu.
  • Added support for double clicking servers in the Server List to automatically join.

    Known Issues
  • We have found a critical error in the Giganotosaurus blueprints. He has been temporarily removed from the selectable survival list for ~48-72 hours while he's fixed. This should also solve some of the obscene stat variety that has been seen throughout his lifecycle.
  • The new cerato animations are still very early, and are being improved upon more soon
  • Discovered post-patch: The skin system isn't opening for players, it's being fixed in 0.1.52.2 which is coming in about an hour
