Fallout 4 mod trailer shows off 18 minutes of Fallout London

Fallout London is an ambitious Fallout 4 mod that injects British culture into Bethesda's iconic RPG game, and a new trailer gives us a good glimpse at its gameplay. As is tradition, things kick off with a husky 'War never changes' monologue, followed by the usual Vault dweller trying to find their feet.

Clocking in at just over 18 minutes long, the new Fallout 4 mod trailer shows off the project's lick of London themed paint, as well as new UI elements and textures. If you've spent a significant amount of time roaming around the world of Fallout 4, you'll no doubt notice the difference within this overhaul, as even the game's wearable Pip-Boy has been spruced up.

As is expected, the Fallout London features a few, well, Londoners, but the mod throws a few famous voices into the mix. In fact, the trailer actually features two Doctor Who actors, with Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy contributing their talent to the spinoff.

This Fallout 4 mod recreates all of Fallout 3's Point Lookout DLC

Point Lookout - Fallout 4 is a faithful fan recreation of Fallout 3's Point Lookout DLC... but in its sequel. The Fallout 4 mod includes every quest, location, NPC, enemy, and nearly every item and weapon from its predecessor's DLC.

It's an impressive feat. Point Lookout was the penultimate DLC for Fallout 3, which was released back in 2009. Located in Point Lookout State Park in Maryland, the expansion broke away from the usual grey palette of the vast Capital Wasteland in favour of a small town in a swamp, with a seaside (swampside?) pier and a strange old mansion.

The mod is the work of The Capital Wasteland Project, which aims to recreate all of Fallout 3 in Fallout 4, along with the added benefits to graphics, physics, and performance. As you'd expect the DLC looks significantly better on Fallout 4's engine, with higher resolution textures, god rays, and better visuals thanks to the use of assets from the newer game.

This Fallout 4 mod is the ultimate Doctor Who RPG

There's a Fallout 4 mod that basically turns Bethesda's open-world game into the ultimate Doctor Who experience, and it's just been remastered and re-released - or, should we say, "regenerated".

The 'Fallout Who' mod adds a fully functioning TARDIS - along with a massive interior section that proves it's bigger on the inside - and a mystery to solve, as players have to travel to Sanctuary and find the broken pocket watch hidden in the cellar - which fans of the show will recognise from the David Tennant story 'Human Nature'.

We won't spoil the story, but following the questline will presumably lead to the players encountering the TARDIS and being able to explore it - and travel in it. Given the state of most Doctor Who games, just being based on Fallout 4 means that this mod instantly becomes the ultimate Doctor Who RPG game. There's even a sonic screwdriver that players can craft as a weapon, of sorts, and you can choose a variety of different styles.

It's easy to spot a Vault Dweller in the wasteland—just look for the big, clunky computer strapped to their forearm. But if you've played through Fallout 4 a few times and want to look at something different when you check the map or organize your inventory, or if you want to roleplay a character who never lived in a Vault, here's a fun new option...

What if: Fallout 4 got a roguelike mode?

In case you didn't see the news, Hitman 3 is getting a roguelike mode. It sounds like the perfect fit for the trilogy: a more challenging remix of targets and sandboxes from all three games, with meaningful progression and proper consequences if you fail a mission. You earn better gear as you murder your way through idyllic vineyards, grandiose country houses, and Berlin techno raves, which you can store at your safehouse for use in subsequent assignments. However, if you die during a mission or your target escapes, then any gear you took with you is gone for good.

It's a genius mash-up of ideas. But it's got me thinking about other games that could benefit from roguelike elements, and as a long-time Fallout fan it hasn't taken long for the pieces to click together. So, what if Fallout 4 got a roguelike mode?

One of the enduring frustrations with Fallout 4 is that, despite having such a robust building system, there's very little to actually do in each settlement once they're all set up how you like them. There are vendors you can trade with and you'll routinely have to travel around the Commonwealth bailing settlements out of trouble, but when everything's running smoothly there's really no reason to hang around the villages and homesteads you've helped establish. Similarly, once you've cleared out every vault, raider hideout, and historic landmark on the map, your best bet for replayability is to start modding or begin a fresh save.
