Critical Update RELEASES in 4 days!

[p]Hi everyone![/p][p]I'm super happy to announce that Desktop Defender's Critical Update releases in 4 days on March 9th! I wanted to give you all a little sneak peak about what the update contains, so that's what this post is for![/p][p]Before I start though, we're also releasing a whole new idle game called Card Corner on March 9th! If you own Desktop Defender, you'll get a discount on the game.[/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]They're also both compatible so you can snap their windows to each other for ultimate offscreen progression! [/p][p][/p][p]The free demo is available now, and the save carries on to the full game![/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]Anyways, that's enough about Card Corner, let's get going with Desktop Defender's Critical Update 😎[/p][h3]New Stats[/h3][p]The main new addition in this update, and its namesake, is the addition of the Critical Chance and Critical Multiplier stats![/p][p][/p][p]Now, you'll be able to invest in the Critical Chance stat to increase how often you get damage-increasing critical hits, and in Critical Multiplier in order to boost how much those do![/p][p]This is a huge change both for early and late game, and it has greatly increased the number of builds the game has.[/p][h3]Stat Viewing[/h3][p]Another thing we've added is greater clarity to how much upgrading stats affects them. This one was super requested. All stats will have their values and units displayed, so now you can strategise more precisely![/p][p][/p][h3]Loot Changes & Additions[/h3][p]The stat viewing has also been applied to loot! So now you can see exactly how your loadout changes affect your build, and that applies both to when checking out your equipped loot, and when deciding on whether to pick up a new one or not.[/p][p]There has also been tons of new loot added, as well as 3 new loot slots![/p][p]Finally, loot no longer disappears from your inventory when you Rebirth, they stay so you won't need to drop everything on the floor anymore (I know many will be happy about this one)![/p][p][/p][h3]New Menu[/h3][p]I know that some of Desktop Defender's mechanics can be a bit obtuse, and that's why we added a new tips menu! Now, you can read about basically anything you'd like to know that might be a bit confusing otherwise! We originally added this to Card Corner, but it was too useful not to backport into Desktop Defender too![/p][p][/p][h3]New Weapons[/h3][p]We're also adding 2 new weapons to the game, but I will save these for the release of the update... Can't spoil everything here ;)[/p][h3]Level Upgrades[/h3][p]Finally, the game is getting an increase in how many levels it has! Previously, the game had 150 levels, and now it's going to have 200! Most of the level bonuses are quite simple, but there are some big ones like the aforementioned extra loot slots, and there's also one big new bonus at level 200 - level damage bonuses.[/p][p]Now, when you reach level 200, each level will give you +1% damage, so leveling up is no longer useless after you get all the bonuses![/p][p][/p][p]I hope you all enjoyed reading what we've been up to since the skin update last month, I'm super excited to see you all try it :)[/p][p]You'll notice that we've increased both the cadence and size of our updates, and that's because we've been able to backport lots of the cool features of the new projects we've been working on (e.g. the tips/stat info systems in Card Corner). [/p][p]If you wanna support us in further updating Desktop Defender, then either reviewing Desktop Defender or wishlisting Card Corner are the best things you can do! :)[/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]Anyways, that's it for this update, but thank you so much for reading! See you soon on March 9th, the release date of both Desktop Defender's Critical Update, and Card Corner![/p][p]- Conrad, Lead Developer[/p][p][/p][p][/p]

Skin Update Is Out Now + NEW GAME ANNOUNCEMENT!

[p]Hi everyone![/p][p]Today's post is a big one, because not only are we releasing the Skin Update, but also announcing A WHOLE NEW GAME, Card Corner! (P.S. The free demo is out right now!)[/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]The Skin Update is out right now, and if you want to read what it adds to the game, read the post below! You'll see that we have another upcoming update very soon, and later in this post I'll reveal the release date! [/p][p][/p][p]We'll also of course be making more updates beyond these ones, and I can't wait to keep on supporting Desktop Defender![/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]Anyways, many of you probably want to learn more about Card Corner, our latest idle game that takes everything we learned while developing and supporting Desktop Defender, and applies it to a poker setting![/p][p][/p][p]If you enjoyed Desktop Defender, Card Corner will also be right up your alley. It's an idle poker deckbuilder that lives quietly in the corner of your screen while you work, browse, or do whatever else you're doing![/p][p]There's a free demo available on Steam right now, give it a shot and let me know what you think! In fact, it's also compatible with Desktop Defender so you can snap the windows to each other, and play both games simultaneously! You'll also get a free skin in Desktop Defender if you've played the Card Corner demo! [/p][p]Join the Card Corner Discord here![/p][p][/p][p]Anyways, I'm sure you also want to read the exact patch notes for Desktop Defender's Skin Update, and you can read them below![/p]
  • [p]Added the new skin system - unlocking certain number of achievements allows you to unlock visual skins.[/p]
  • [p]Added 14 new skins (and even more if you own more of our games as tie-in bonuses).[/p]
  • [p]Added 5 new achievements, without Steam integration per community feedback.[/p]
  • [p]Improved the game's visuals when scaling the game's window up and down from the base resolution.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug that caused certain infinity-ranked loot to be way rarer than intended.[/p]
[p]I really hope that you enjoy both Desktop Defender's Skin Update, and Card Corner's free demo! What's even more exciting is that Card Corner will be releasing on the 9th of March, and Desktop Defender's Critical Update will be releasing on the same day![/p][p]Also, as always, if you're enjoying the game, I would REALLY appreciate it if you reviewed it. It's the best thing you can do to support the game if you're enjoying it![/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]Anyways, that's it for this post and see you very soon![/p][p]- Conrad, Lead Developer[/p]

Skin Update Releasing 16 Feb! + Achievement Questions!

[p]Hi everyone![/p][p]In our last post we announced both the Critical Update, as well as the Skin Update, and I let you know that we'd be announcing the release date for the latter very soon... Well, I'm happy to announce that the Skin Update is releasing this Monday, the 16th of February![/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]If you want to check what it contains, click on the link below![/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]Also, we'll be announcing something SUPER important on the 16th of February as well, so keep an eye out for that... You can join our Discord to stay up to date![/p][h3]New Achievements[/h3][p]On a separate note, in the last post we announced that the game would be receiving more achievements to work in tandem with the new skin system, and while we carried out a survey to make sure that you all wanted this, we received some feedback on our previous post that went against this.[/p][p]Because of this, I wanted to ask - if you're one of the players who would like achievements to be added, would you be alright with them only being added to the game itself, and not Steam?[/p][p]So in practice, the achievements would appear in game as they do right now, but no more would be added to the Steam backend, so if you 100%d the game prior to the upcoming updates it still shows as such. Let me know what you think![/p][p][/p][p]Also, as always, if you're enjoying the game, I would REALLY appreciate it if you reviewed it. It's the best thing you can do to support the game if you're enjoying it![/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]Anyways, that's it for this post, and the next one will be for when the special announcement and the release of the Skin Update! Hope you enjoy![/p][p]- Conrad, Lead Developer[/p]

Announcing 2 New Desktop Defender Updates!

[p]Hi everyone![/p][p]It's been a bit over 2 weeks since the big Rebirth Update, and I'm excited to announce that we have 2 new updates coming VERY SOON to Desktop Defender![/p][p]But before I start explaining the updates, if you're enjoying the game, I would REALLY appreciate it if you reviewed it! It's the best thing you can do to support the game if you're enjoying it![/p][h3][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]Skin Update[/h3][p]The first update is called the Skin Update, and will come out around mid-late February. It adds a new skin system to change your defender's appearance, QOL changes and bug fixes, as well as a few new achievements. [/p][p][/p][p]The update will feature 14 skins, and you unlock them through completing more achievements. To coincide with the update, we've also added 5 more! [/p][p]The achievements are not overly complex since this is a smaller update, but they set up the groundwork for the new update. Also, I wanted to show you all my new favourite skin, which is this lil' guy :)[/p][p][/p][p]Speaking of the new update after the Skin Update, it'll be a big one and it's called the Critical Update.[/p][h3]Critical Update[/h3][p][/p][p]The Critical Update will release in March, and will feature:[/p]
  • [p]2 new upgradeable stats, critical hit chance and critical hit multiplier.[/p]
  • [p]2 new weapons that synergise with the new stats.[/p]
  • [p]More loot.[/p]
  • [p]New levels! You will be able to level up to level 200.[/p]
  • [p]New QOL changes such as being able to see your stat values (e.g. damage per hit, fire rate, etc.)[/p]
  • [p]New achievements for the new content.[/p]
[p]I'm super excited to show you all what we've been working on, and I hope you all enjoy playing more Desktop Defender! The Critical Update will also release with a HUGE new announcement, but you'll have to wait until later this month to find out what it is ;)[/p][p]Also, as always, if you're enjoying the game, I would REALLY appreciate it if you reviewed it. It's the best thing you can do to support the game if you're enjoying it![/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]Anyways, that's it for this post, and the next one will be for when the Skin Update is out for you all to play! Hope you enjoy![/p][p]- Conrad, Lead Developer[/p]
