Sumo! Revise: I am going to redeem this game.

Hi everyone!

I had a sudden urge a few weeks ago to do something about Sumo! Revise here. Small backstory: Sumo! Revise was the reason I quit development for several years. Upon release, it got what, at the time, was pretty major backlash, netting tons of negative reviews and some people writing me some. . . well, choice comments, about what I made.

This really dragged my confidence to the ground. Later the same year, Rubber Ducky moved through Greenlight and released as well to better reception. But Sumo! Revise stuck in my mind and kinda' acted as a metal block to anything I tried to do in the future.

I'm now several games down the line of Sumo! Revise, working full time as a game developer, and I think it's time to redeem it. Here's how.

  • Step 1: I will be changing the game to F2P, starting tomorrow, since the game no longer makes sales. To anyone that has spent money on the game - please email [email protected] and I will give you a key to Kyle is Famous, which is $15 and worth a lot more than Sumo! Revise was.

  • Step 2: Update the Steam backend. I have added in a ton of missing branding assets on Steam, redone the tags, updated info, etc. This actually means a lot for the Steam algorithm to recommend the game.

  • Step 3: Updating the game, slightly. I want to make a couple really important changes to the game. Firstly, I want to make "professional mode" the default so there's a score counter and time in between matches. I want to decrease the lag after attacking, and I want to add some air influence. These changes will be made carefully to not tread on the original vision of the game, but I think will be enough to make the game a lot more fun. Note: this WILL depend on whether I can find the original game files. We shall see!

  • Step 4: Tournament? Depending on the reception, I may even host a small tournament with a pot off of my Discord. Keep tabs for that.


The goal will be to reverse the flow of negative reviews and get Sumo! Revise to be at least "Positive" here on Steam. If I can get there, I will be immensely satisfied. If you want to help me get there, I'd appreciate a review! But of course, please only do so if you truthfully enjoyed the game. :)

Survival Horror, but with Puppets

Hey guys! I am super happy to report that I finally have a brand new project to share. Ever wonder what your favorite children's TV shows would look like with a dash of survival horror? MFN is the marriage of survival horror and puppets, giving you an open world to fight through and explore, big mysteries to solve, puzzles out the whazoo, and a ton more.

So what sort of things should you expect to find in My Friendly Neighborhood?

  • Non-linear, first person survival horror gameplay
  • A colorful cast of puppet friends turned adversaries (and maybe turned friends again!)
  • An array of puzzles in the vein of the survival horror greats.
  • A multitude of diverse environments, from the "BTS" Ray's Workshop to cardboard crayon halls
  • A grid-based real-time inventory, cause that's just way better
  • And a lot more. . . but I'll let you find that out for yourself


Also, just a note - it might be a horror game, but expect the same sort of playful, humorous take on things that you might have found in my other games. It's spooky, but I think you'll find a lot of smiles along the way. :)

I'm really happy to report that this is by far the biggest project I've ever worked on. I have a TON of great stuff planned that I can't wait for you all to experience. . . but I'll let you find all of that for yourselves.

Kyle is Famous - Pre-Access Open

Hey all. . .

It's been a while since I posted anything here. Life has been a series of big ups and downs, but things have stabilized finally and I'm back to developing full time.

I've put together something new that I'm really quite happy with. Kyle is Famous is a humorous choose-your-own adventure game about absolutely NOT SWALLOWING THE FRIDGE. Kyle needs to prepare for an important day, and it's up to you to make sure that he does. . . if you feel like being nice.

Price Changes, Technical Problems and other things. . .

Hi guys! I just recently got full control of Sumo back. I took a look at things, and am quite confused by some of the background stuff I am finding. . . I've lost some important files that I need to be able to work with this game properly, so give me some time to get everything back in order to be able to work on the game.

TECHNICAL ISSUES:
I know some people have trouble running the game. This is due to an export issue from a previous build, and I now know how to fix it. I will be doing an update to the game ASAP to fix this problem (hopefully later today).

PRICE CHANGES:
I am thoroughly planning on dropping the price of Sumo in the upcoming future. TO ALL THAT HAVE BOUGHT OR WILL BUY THE GAME AT ABOVE WHATEVER THE PRICE WILL BECOME: I can't offer refunds because of the Steam policies surrounding them, but I can offer at least a free copy of my other game, Rubber Ducky and the Rainbow Gun, to anyone who bought Sumo at too high of a price. Drop me a line somewhere and we can figure things out once the price change hits. PLEASE KEEP THIS PRICE CHANGE IN MIND AS YOU CONSIDER BUYING SUMO RIGHT NOW!

I'd really love to be able to feel good about having made this game at all, so if there's anyone who would be willing to stick with me on this project, drop me a line so I have some encouragement about it. :)
