Dead by Daylight has never really been anything but successful. More than any other game in its genre, it's maintained a strong player base on the strength of its design fundamentals and, of course, the many crossovers with other horror media that have been added to it. From Silent Hill and Resident Evil to Alan Wake and Castlevania additions, DBD has kept the game fresh for existing players while attracting new audiences for years now. That strategy has continued to pay off with its Five Nights at Freddy's DLC, which has brought a ton of new players to the game who will now have an influx of others to join matches with as DBD offers a free weekend, starting now.

Dead by Daylight has hosted crossovers with just about every fictional universe possible, horror or otherwise. Over the years, we've seen survivors and killers based on movie series like Halloween, Evil Dead, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Child's Play, as well as games such as Castlevania, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill. Naturally, then, DBD would have to get around to featuring one of the most popular horror game series to emerge in the last few decades. And now, with the launch of its Five Nights at Freddy's DLC, that crossover has finally been realized, with DBD exploding on Steam as a result.
