Zombie Panic! Full Release Overview & FAQ

[p]Hello everyone![/p][p][/p][p]We want to start off our first devblog of the year by thanking everyone for the amazing support we received after the announcement that Zombie Panic 1 is coming to the Steam Store, and for all the people who volunteered to playtest the early build over the past few months - soon to be available for everyone to play![/p][p][/p][p]Both the team and a few community members have been hard at work contributing to the development of the mod by adding fresh content with new maps, models, textures, and music, some of which will release at launch and some in future updates. We'd like to showcase some in today's blog post.[/p][p][/p]
Map Rework Previews
[p]During the early stages of development, we added many new mapping entities/tools (for balance reasons) and made other significant changes to the game code that made older maps unplayable or not suitable for the new version. Recompiling those maps just to update these entities wasn't going to be worth it and we didn't have the original source files, so in order to make them playable we decided to rework most of the official maps from the ground up with updated visuals and brand new locations to expand the gameplay and enrich the atmosphere of the level for today's standards.[/p][p][/p][carousel][/carousel][p][/p][p]We may continue reworking more maps in the future or let the community port some of them through our Steam Workshop implementation. Until then, check out the comparison below![/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p]
New Character Visuals
[p]As we progressed with the updated maps, we thought we could give the same treatment to our beloved solo survivor by bringing the memorable duo Eugene and Marcus to ZP1, with a new member of the group named David! This is just the beginning of something we wish to experiment with by introducing more new characters, male and female, who will make the world feel more lived in.[/p][p][/p][carousel][/carousel][p][/p][p]Feel free to suggest which kind of survivor you want to see next in our forums or help us create one![/p][p][/p]
Workshop Content
[p]We've got a lot of old Zombie Panic 1 maps (custom and official) restored through ZP1 Steam Workshop ready to be played when the game releases! It's very important for us and for the mod to have as much custom content as possible available to play, therefore we've made a quick Steam guide on how to add and pack any kind of content you would like to share with the community! [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
ZP1 Official FAQ
[p]Lastly, here are some frequently asked questions about Zombie Panic! Steam version![/p][p][/p]
Who is working on this Steam version?
[p]Currently, the project lead is JonnyBoy working on the mod with the additional help of community members contributing new assets (models, materials, sounds etc) for the mod. If you wish to help in some way, please reach out in our Discord server or our Steam forums.[/p][p][/p]
What is new on this Steam version?
[p]We've listed everything new and all changes made to the mod in the Steam Store page. There is a detailed changelog on the ZP1 GitHub and all changes are also documented on our Discord server in the ZP1 channel.[/p][p][/p]
Where can I find the Zombie Panic 1 GitHub?
[p]You can find it here![/p][p][/p]
Will it have new gamemodes?
[p]We're bringing Hardcore, one of the main gamemodes from ZPS, to Zombie Panic 1 at launch! If we decide to add extra gamemodes beyond this, we'll announce them at the appropriate time.[/p][p][/p]
Will it have more characters/weapons?
[p]Yes! There are some being worked on or in our plans for future content. Stay tuned for that.[/p][p][/p]
Will it have Linux support?
[p]Unfortunately, no. We recommend using Steam's Proton instead. This may change later in the future.[/p][p][/p]
Will it have BOT support?
[p]No, as it would require a lot of work, therefore it is not in our plans at the moment. [/p][p][/p]
Will this affect the development of Zombie Panic Source?
[p]No. While JonnyBoy is solo handling the ZP1 project, the rest of the Zombie Panic team will continue to work on ZPS with extra help from community contributors.[/p][p][/p]
What happened to the old original Zombie Panic 1 store page?
[p]Unfortunately, we could never use that one as according to Valve it was a very ancient page set up during the early days when community mods were first arriving on the Steam store. It's like a 'fake page', just a placeholder to display information about the mod and nothing else. Since we couldn't use it, the Steam team was kind enough to help us in this matter by creating a whole new store page for the updated version of the game![/p][p][/p]
Can I still download the original ZP1 version?
[p]Yes, you can still download and play it via ModDB.[/p][p][/p]
How can I help translate the mod from English to my language?
[p]Check out the ui/resource/language folder in the game files, edit those files and send 'em to us via Discord or forums![/p][p][/p]
Can I still support the mod in some way?
[p]You're more than welcome to support the project lead on his Patreon.[/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]The Zombie Panic Team[/p]
