SHINY NEW FRESH COOL ART

[p]Hi I’m Jess, one of the devs on Dogpile! Just wanted to pop in for a mo to show you some of the latest art / features / cool bits we’ve been adding for full release.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]
A GLOSSARY![/p][p]Still torn on if we should keep it classic or give it a more flavourful name, what do you reckon?[/p][p] [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]TAG COLLECTION[/p][p]It’s particularly satisfying seeing all the tags you’ve collected.[/p][p]
[/p][p][/p][p]COLLECTABLE PALETTES & COLLARS?[/p][p]We’re still deciding if we’ll make palettes & collars collectable vs just auto unlocked. Scope creep comes for us all.[/p][p]
[/p][p]NEW BONES THAT DON’T YELL AT YOU[/p][p]We’ve noticed from our testers that the bones are getting a little out of hand lol. There has to be a better wayyy.[/p][p]
[/p][p][/p][p]BONE CURRENCY[/p][p]It felt time to split up the bones into different denominations. A cute touch is we’re using the same colours as we do for the tag rarities. Will this be visually confusing? We’ll find out soon![/p][p]
[/p][p][/p][p]STEAM ACHIEVEMENTS[/p][p]Very cute, very satisfying for the completionists out there.[/p][p]
[/p][p][/p][p]POSTCARD END SCREEN[/p][p]One of the signatures of our games is a funky bespoke postcard that communicates how well you’ve done. The Gubbins ones were a far more extensive feature, where the game let you make hilarious postcards with the words you made, while the Real Bird Fake Bird ones were more simple and centred around your score. The Dogpile on feels somewhere in between, with the context of your biggest dogs, your most recent tags, your deck, your bones collected among other stats AND it even shows it on the palette you were playing in.[/p][p][/p][p]Anyway excited for you all to get to play this stuff! Let us know if you have any feedback on our additions or if there’s anything you really wanna see in the game? [/p][p][/p][p]Love to you all x[/p]

DECKS PREVIEW (SPOILERS)

[p]Hello I'm VERY excited to spoil more Dogpile stuff for you here today. Dogpile is such a treat to design for, it's very fun to come up with different gameplay effects that push players to explore new corners of the game, and change their perspective on different mechanics.

For the decks, holistically we wanted them to act as a starter-culture for the yoghurt your deck becomes (???). They are a slight nudge, or set up to take advantage of synergies. AND, primarily, they are just meant to be a bit of fun. They aren't 100% balanced, but they are made with 100% farm-to-table love.

I don't know exactly how many we will launch with, but safe to say it's well over 10.

OKAY first up we have a weird one. The Pedigree deck is actually going to start unlocked, and is going to be a "pure" stripped back version of Dogpile. It's our "Suika Mode" where you can just get in the flow, play Dogs and not worry about all the hubub of Bones, Money, Shops and Goals. Just some good old fashioned Dog Merging.

This is the mode my mum and nephew will play.

[/p][p]Misfits randomly gives you a bunch of bad Dogs, but sets you up to grab a few expensive Tags for free. In the full launch of the game we have a bunch of tags that synergise with Bad Traits, like Crated and Timid so this Deck is a great place to see those archetypes soar.

[/p][p]No more passive money gain, but Showdogs are massively buffed. Get the money flowing, lock in an econ-deck and go to the moon.[/p][p][/p][p]We were playing this deck yesterday and it's wild, basically you get sprees of chain drawing your whole deck and it's very fun, but sometimes you just play a single Dog and your Hand is over.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Thanks again for reading, I'll try and be back next week for more spoilers. Plz tell everyone you've ever met to wishlist our game. Love you all xxxx

NEW DOG TAGS BABY!

[p]Hello explicitly to the Pilers of Dogs and nobody else.[/p][p]
We've been working very hard on a bunch of cool stuff including a Glossary, Controller Support, Trailers, the filthy flea... and some Press Beats and more. BUT today we want to talk to you about Tags. In an upcoming update Tags will be getting a shiny new treatment, we hope you like it.

[/p][p][/p][p]Tags make the world go round, they are the synergies that make the Dogs do what they do best.. merge. A thing we love about Dogpile is this suite of Tags like Jupiter and Roll Over that are almost more fun than helpful. In a similar vein, introducing... CHASE TAIL! Chase Tail is a simple Tag that helps you jostle your Dogs around.[/p][p][/p][p]If you were craving more Barky synergy, we got you. Chit Chat with Supersonic and go to the moon.[/p][p][/p][p]If you're a high performing businessperson (like us) then perhaps the CEO tag is for you. CEO synergises with all Yard-Promotion Tags so you can skip whole ranks and maybe even steal out an early win...[/p][p][/p][p]Raise the power level of your whole deck with Over K-9000. \[WARNING: DANGEROUSLY GOOD WITH A THIN DECK][/p][p][/p][p]Outlaw is a high risk high reward card that can yield serious payoffs and also is a bit of a Crated enabler, which is a synergy that might be getting some more love soon...[/p][p][/p][p]And finally, SEVEN DID WHAT??? Helps you manage the clutter. Keep in mind that the resulting Merge is always from the highest ranked Dog, so a 7 Merging with an 8 will provide a 9.
[/p][p][/p][p]That's it folks! I hope you like what we've been cooking up. We have about 40+ more Tags working internally that we're hype to show you soon. In the meantime if you have any balance thoughts on the current suite please let us know. Is anything OP? Is anything unusable?

Bring your hot takes to the forums OR bring it to our Discord. Oh and also tell everyone you've ever met to wishlist Dogpile, we need the clicks so badly, the data overlords are going to claim our souls.[/p]

Dev Log 1: The Colors of Berghain

[p]It’s been about three weeks since we announced Dogpile and released our demo here on Steam.[/p][p][/p][p]While our numbers are still small and we’ve only just begun, we wanted to say a massive thank you for all the bug reports, feedback, and, most importantly, the dog pictures on our Discord (well mostly dog pictures).[/p][p][/p][p]We also wanted to share a little behind the scenes. So, what is Dogpile? It’s a weird mix of Sukia and Balatro — a funny, addictive roguelike deck-builder where you merge cute dogs into even bigger dogs.[/p][p][/p][p]Fun fact of the week (we’re hoping to make this a weekly devlog — but don’t blame us if we don’t!): one of our color palettes was directly inspired by Berghain. One of our friends went there (for those who don’t know, it’s a popular club in Berlin where you stand in line way too long), and we asked her what the colors looked like inside. She described them, and we turned that into an actual palette for the game.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Game dev inspiration can come from anywhere.
[/p][p]We’ve actually only been working on Dogpile for about five months. If you’re a fellow dev, you know that’s not a lot of time to announce a demo, release it, and already be part of Steam Next Fest. Let’s just say we’re on an insane quest to make Dogpile your most-wanted game.[/p][p][/p][p]For now, please keep posting those bugs and feedback, it’s incredibly helpful for us.[/p][p]

Merge dogs to make bigger dogs in the delightfully silly roguelike deckbuilder Dogpile

I love how delightfully silly Dogpile is as you drop various types of dogs into a vertical yard where they merge into bigger dogs.
