We're always trying to make the process of character creation a little bit more user friendly. Today we're dropping a small update that let's you crop your images if they're not the native 128x128 size.

Twelve features requested, thirteen features delivered!

The 12 Features update has hit Steam. Some of my favorites:

• The most requested feature was custom sprites, now on the fighter editor you'll be able to set directional 32x32 sprites for your characters.
  
• Animated fighter images. Make a sprite strip and set it as a fighter image and boom! Portraits will be more lively than ever!
  
• Scrollable updates list. You can now scroll through updates! People will stop getting mad at me for this finally!
  

While I'm here I'd like to talk about Ultimate Arena updates for the remainder of the year.

The Twitch Update
This will bring the highly requested Twitch.tv features back into the game. We think that Ultimate Arena will be a great game to chill and hang out with your viewers, and this update will allow for your followers to get in on the action. Expect this update in March.

An Ultimate Fool's Surprise
I don't recall if we've ever done an April Fool's update. There will be one this year though.

The Maps 2.0 Update
I can't stand the way Ultimate Arena's maps currently work, so I am throwing all the current code out the window and starting from scratch on this section. Maps are unfortunately a big part of the game so it will take some time to make progress on this. Expect this update in September.

And that's what we've got planned. Of course smaller things and bugfixes will always be happening. Speaking of which, reporting bugs on Github is the best way for me to see them. With many big changes to the game there's a good chance bugs will pop up.

In return I said I would add 12 highly requested features to Ultimate Arena, so it's now my turn to deliver on that promise. Gamers, 9 year olds, and everyone else who happens to use our products by rare chance,

It has come to my attention that one of Ultimate Arena's most valuable participants, Donald J. Trump PewDiePie is in dire need of our help. In a matter of days the accolade of Most Subscribers on YouTube will be lost to the Indian Bollywood conglomerate "T-Series". While normally we consider ourselves mid-tier Bollywood fans, we must set aside our biases and protect the titles of our fighters.

We're launching an all-out attack. Starting today the latest Ultimate Arena update "The Fight Before Christmas" is rolling out to hundreds of thousands of people. In every corner of every match the subscriber counts for both PewDiePie and T-Series are listed, along with a Defcon number to indicate the severity of the situation. On the title screen is a direct link to PewDiePie's YouTube channel. This update will last through the end of the month, at which point there are 3 outcomes.

GOOD ENDING
If PewDiePie holds his title through the end of the month we will add 12 features that fans request ("The 12 Features of Christmas"

OK ENDING
If PewDiePie loses his title, but gains it back by the end of the month we will add the 12 Features of Christmas, but also add T-Series as a fighter

BAD ENDING
If PewDiePie is overtaken by T-Series at the end of the month, we will remove Ultimate Arena from Steam.

With your help, we can prevent this Bollywood takeover.

Arena Fans,

This is the first release in many (probably around 6 total) updates that are part of the Custom Edition package. This first one focuses on creating fighters as I have been working to make the jobs of content creators a bit easier.

So what's changed? On the main menu the layout is a bit different, you'll see a "Steam Workshop" button which takes you to the upload screen. From here you can see your current fighters that you've uploaded to the workshop and for the first time you can actually update your fighters. (this will be important for upcoming updates)

On the user side, fighters from the workshop now are decoupled from your personal catalog and are at the bottom of the fighter list. No longer do you have to delete and redownload characters to get the latest version, they automatically update!

Eventually this functionality will extend to Maps, Events, and Text after I've confirmed everything is working as intended. The next custom edition update will focus on Maps and will add another dimension to the current gameplay. Your bug reports are appriciated and I'll be watching the forums to make sure issues are cleared up ASAP!
