Devlog #2: The Families and the Underworld

[p]Hello Everyone,[/p][p]Greetings from the Complex Universe team! Welcome to our third development log. Today, we want to dive into the criminal underworld of Silent Authority: Blood and Bourbon and talk about the Families (or: How We Made Our Own Lives Harder!).[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]1920s New York is a massive, living ecosystem, and in our game, the city is divided among 14 distinct crime families hailing from 5 different ethnic backgrounds: Italian, Irish, African American, American, and Chinese.[/p][p]We wanted the city to feel truly alive and reactive. While your journey begins in the heart of Manhattan, the rest of 1920s New York, including Brooklyn, Harlem, and beyond has already been largely implemented and integrated into the overarching gameplay loop.[/p][p]Each of these 14 families isn't just a different color on the map. They have their own mindset, strengths, growth styles, and controlled territories. To achieve this, we developed an AI system where behavior and characteristics are shaped by multiple factors. A family's growth philosophy might lean towards honoring old traditions or pushing for fast expansion. Their leadership approach dictates how they rule, whether through respect or pure fear. These elements ensure that dealing with each faction requires a completely different strategy.[/p][p][/p][p]🔥 To support us and stay updated, please add our game to your Steam Wishlist: [/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]If you want to be a part of our development process, share your thoughts, or just chat with our community, you can always reach us through the channels below:[/p][p]See you in the next update![/p][p]The Complex Universe Team[/p]
