Layers of Fear, formerly Layers of Fears, will be released in June, according to Bloober Team.

News of the release window was announced today in a short trailer (thanks, Gematsu).

The 2023 release features 2016's Layers of Fear, along with its expansion Inheritance and the sequel Layers of Fear 2, each updated in Unreal Engine 5 with new game mechanics, scares, and a new chapter titled The Final Note expanding the story of the original Layers of Fear. The chapter will be told from the perspective of the antagonist, the Painter's wife.

Layers of Fear (2023) is the crowning work of the Layers series that features 2016's Layers of Fear, along with its expansion "Inheritance" and the later sequel Layers of Fear 2. Experience new game mechanics, new scares, and a new chapter titled "The Final Note" that expands on the story of the original Layers of Fear through the perspective of the antagonist, the Painter's wife. Bloober Team is back with yet another spine-tingling trainer for the upcoming psychological horror game, Layers of Fears. The game was first announced back in June, but we know a lot more about what to expect when it releases in early 2023.

Bloober Team are certainly no stranger to the genre, having already developed The Medium and Blair Witch, and this time around, the team is developing the Layers of Fear sequel alongside Anshar Studios.

Layers of Fears is not a direct sequel to 2016's Layers of Fear or even 2019's Layers of Fear 2. Instead, the new game will be remastering the two titles and DLC to combine them into a single, scary reimagination of the series with new, additional plot lines and Unreal Engine 5 technology.
