Bloober Team teases new Layers of Fear game amidst Silent Hill rumours

There's been no shortage of rumours lately involving Bloober Team, but we're not talking about Silent Hill right now. In a recent tweet from the team, via the LayersOfFear2 account, some teaser artwork for a new game has been shared.

Layers of Fear initially released in 2016, with its sequel, Layers of Fear 2, launching in 2019. Bloober Team then unveiled, during October 2021, that a brand new Layers of Fear project was in the works, inviting players back to the horrific mind of a tortured artist once more.

As a part of the revelation, Bloober Team shared a short clip made in Unreal Engine 5; Layers of Fear has never looked so hauntingly terrifying.

Brave the Depths of the Mansion

Start a new game of Layers of Fear 10/29 through 11/30 and you may notice a new drawing in the entryway of the mansion. Follow the pages to uncover a story about three children who discover a sinister spirit board and learn to be careful what they wish for.

Should you follow the children and brave the depths of the Mansion this Halloween, you'll be able to enter a room that's been locked for a very good reason. In this room lies a spirit board, not unlike the one from the drawings.

If you are feeling particularly brave, you can use the planchette to try your hand at communing with the spirits. Depending on the message you send, you may uncover secrets beyond reason or summon a memory best forgotten.

Unsure of what message to send? Some tell tales of ghoulish apparitions and strange rooms.

Bloober Team teases next entry in the Layers of Fear universe

The third installment in the Layers of Fear series is in the works, and Bloober Team has released the Unreal Engine 5 teaser trailer shown at TGS 2021.

The first Layers of Fear was released in 2016 and was a unique take on the first-person psychological horror experience. Told from the point of view of a painter obsessively trying to finish his Magnum Opus, after its release, the award-winning title was expanded with a story DLC titled Inheritance. In it, the painter’s daughter comes back to her childhood home to face her past.

In 2019, the team released an indirect sequel, Layers of Fear 2, telling the story of a Hollywood actor who heeds the call of a director to star in a film shot aboard an ocean liner. The game tasks you with exploring the world around you, during which you will need to discover your past, and expose the reason for your having been cast for this film. The only thing is, you have no idea whether your memories are playing tricks on you or it’s all part of the film.

October's here, so it's time to start putting on a few extra layers. Of clothes, sure, but maybe some extra layers of spooks too. Layers Of Fear developers Bloober Team have just released a new trailer teasing a return to their series about creatives types in frightening locales. The next of the series, from the looks of it, might be headed back to the drawing board—or the canvas perhaps—with another story about a painter.
