The special event allows lapsed players to come back and check out the latest additions, from the new story content to the final act of Dawntrail's Arcadion raid series, along with all of the quality-of-life tools that have just been rolled out. The FF14 race to world first is over as Dawntrail's final savage raid falls, and despite DDOS drama the winner is clear

The FF14 race to world first has come to its conclusion, and this time there's nothing close about it, although continued DDOS frustrations certainly managed to put a dampener on the event. Rounding out a trilogy of wins across the entire Dawntrail raid series, Japanese team Lucrezia managed to take home the victory once again, and did so with well over an hour gap ahead of second place, making it tough to argue with the result despite repeated disruptions for several North American teams.

As Heavensturn arrives and the calendar flips to 2026, Final Fantasy 14 is gearing up for its next expansion. There's been no end of speculation and theorizing about what the FF14 8.0 update might look like, with the recent (and rather fantastic) patch 7.4 offering some very tantalizing hints but little in the way of concrete answers. Will we even see it before the end of the year? Based on game director Naoki Yoshida's New Year's Greetings, it sounds like there's more of a chance of that than we might have thought.

Heavensturn has begun!

With a new year waiting just around the corner, the Far Eastern delegation is keen to share their Heavensturn customs with the realm once again. To that end, the uma bugyo and uma yoriki have descended upon Limsa Lominsa with an endearing─and rather anxious─equine mascot in tow. Perhaps the delegates will need a kindly adventurer to take the reins and ensure their celebrations proceed as planned...
