Dev Log for February 25th, 2026

[p]Hello everyone and welcome to the Dev Log for February 25th, 2026! This is a repost of our developer blog posted last week on our official forums.[/p][p][/p][p] [/p]
Next Update: Bug Fix Update!
[p]We’ve been working on a bug fix update for Tower Unite that we’d like to get out soon! We made a Bug Roundup Thread to bump some existing long-term bugs that you all want to bump / bring back to the forefront.[/p][p] [/p][h2]Plaza Fixes[/h2][p]Johanna has continued work on many Plaza optimizations and fixes! These include fixes to sound effect issues with water, broken materials, visual errors, and merging some items to improve performance![/p][p] [/p][h2]Lighting Item Fixes[/h2][p]Nuclearxpotato has been working on a TON of fixes to lighting items in the Condos! The brightness and attenuation values for many light items have been corrected, hanging light items now support shadows, and several lighting items got a material pass and revised names for clarity![/p][p] [/p][h2]General Item Fixes[/h2][p]Fixes have also been completed for several items![/p][p][/p][p]You’ll now be able to put default canvas surface materials on the canvas body pillow item. Media Shelves and Rental Shelves have had some adjustments to fix problems with rotation and spacing! Material regressions and LOD issues were fixed on various items. You can also now color the plant pot of the Carnivorous Plant![/p][p][/p][p]We’ve also improved audio streaming items by fixing the default range, and we’ve implemented a fix for the spray hotkey activating while using instruments![/p][p][/p][p]The modular Catwalk Stairs’ handrails have been adjusted to be the same height as connecting Modular Catwalks. The original end-cap variants have been replaced with one that doesn’t clip into the handrail of connecting Modular Catwalks, and new endcaps have been added[/p][p] [/p][p][/p][p]The Poolcue Rack item has been artpassed and variants have been added + a new loose Poolcue item. The Gramophone has been artpassed and is now an Audio Stream item (like the Potted Carnivorous Plant), it even animates![/p][p][/p][p] [/p][p][/p][h2]SDNL & Virus Fixes[/h2][p]macdguy has been working fixes to SDNL and Virus! These include a fix for SDNL’s gun game and Virus not always giving the player a weapon, and respawn issues with Virus. He's also actively resolving issues with SDNL's respawn system.[/p][p] [/p][h2]General Bug Roundup Progress[/h2][p]We really appreciate all of the bug reports that have been bumped in the bug roundup thread! We’re working through them steadily and want to continue getting out bug fix updates as we can. Some of the bugs listed are extremely difficult to tackle, so progress might feel slow, but we are tackling them![/p][p] [/p][h2]Payouts and Pricing Survey[/h2][p]Unrelated to the bug fix updates, the payouts and pricing survey is over! (There were 849 responses!)[/p][p] [/p][p]We appreciate you guys participating and filling it out! We’ve been going through the responses and jotting down the notable takeaways from the survey to use while doing testing on the games in-game economy. The community perspective is very helpful.[/p][p] [/p][p]We’ve been doing tests on game length vs. payouts, pay-in vs. payouts, Condo building time vs. game play time to earn Units, and game vs. game comparisons, and other tests, all supplemented by information you all gave.[/p][p] [/p][p]This testing is not only to improve the feeling of payouts. We’ve also been discussing some QoL changes unrelated to payouts such as improvements to Laser Tag and Fishing gameplay experience.[/p][p] [/p][p]Once the testing is over, we’ll be able to implement some improvements that will help with the overall feeling of Tower Unite![/p][p] [/p][h2]New Items[/h2][p]Vent Duct modular items have been created, allowing players to quickly assemble explorable vents using Item Snapping![/p][p] [/p][p][/p][p]The Scattered Laundry item was created, with control over the variant and pattern of the clothes, as well as Laundry Carts: two separate items with variants changing their contents

Dev Log for January 14th, 2026

[p]Hey everyone! Its the beginning of a new year, and we’re back for a dev log for January 14, 2026![/p][p]We hope you all had a great end of the year and we wish everyone the best for the new year![/p][p][/p][p]2025 was a big year for PixelTail, and we’re really looking forward to what’s in store in 2026![/p][p][/p]
General
[p]We’ll be working on our two ongoing projects this year: Tower Unite & Elevator![/p][p][/p]
Tower Unite
[p]Since the last dev log, we wrapped up the second half of the Winter Holidays update and have continued working on Optimizations, Items, Cooking, Accelerate SDK, and more![/p][p][/p][p]For 2026, we’re going to continue working through our post-1.0 Roadmap as well as deliver the usual QoL updates and fixes for Tower Unite![/p][p][/p][h2]Plaza Optimizations[/h2][p]We’ve wrapped up some substantial work on Plaza Optimizations since the last update![/p][p][/p][p]We’ve made updates to how the Boardwalk renders, some improvements for users on low post processing settings, improved anti-aliasing performance and optimized night lighting.[/p][p][/p][p]We also fixed a massive performance issue with dynamic lights, and improved performance, render distances, etc. for numerous misc. lights throughout the Plaza, among other improvements![/p][p][/p][p]You can check out the list of optimizations on our Trello![/p][p][/p][h2]Cooking[/h2][p]The “Cooking Mode” System was completed! Players will be able to toggle cooking mode on, select the items they wish to cook, and throw them into cookers (like the blender)![/p][p][/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p]Work was also completed on the cooking processor logic (for recipes), and the cooking actions system with heat, blend, freeze, prepare, grill, and boil as the options![/p][p][/p][h2]SDNL / Milestones[/h2][p]Fixes were made to the Grenade Launcher’s sticky grenade as well as the “The Big Finale” achievement! We also made some light tweaks to existing SDNL milestone items for QoL purposes.[/p][p][/p][p]More super weapons such as the Grenade Launcher, Rocket Launcher, and Chaingun were added to Kalarry’s Warez![/p][p][/p][h2]Accelerate[/h2][p]The “Track Spline” for the Accelerate Map Editor has been completed. This spline will allow players to place down track pieces easily when making their own Accelerate maps.[/p][p][/p][h2]Items & Condo[/h2][p]Lots of work was done on fixing material regressions for various items, as well as some texture fixes, collision issues, coloring issues, seating and emote issues, and NPC / Camera issues.[/p][p][/p][p]We also have a batch of new items such as the Accessory Pedestal and Physics Pool tube which allow players to display owned accessory items in their Condos as items! Another addition is the Text Ticker Item, which is an alternative of the Theater Ticker item.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]And, finally, we have the Laundry items, made for Elevator, which will be items in Tower Unite! These include the Commercial Laundry Washer, Laundry Detergent, Laundry Whitening Powder, Laundry Dryer Sheets, and Bleach.[/p][p][/p][p]We’ve had the Elevator kickstarter ongoing since December 16th, 2025, and we have raised over $70,000! We are so appreciative for the support.[/p][p][/p][p]THANK YOU to everyone who has played the demo, left a review, supported the Kickstarter, or just spread the word about Elevator. Winter Holidays Events Part 2! (1.1.2.1)

  • [p]Added 6 new festive sprays to Santa's Workshop[/p]
  • [p]Added 3 new collectible, festive Catsacks to Holiday events[/p]
  • [p]Added new "Accessory Pedestal" type items to D.I.Y.: Accessory Display and Physics Pool Tube. These items can display owned accessories in your Condos, with more display options coming in the future[/p]
  • [p]Added new item to Central Circuit: Text Ticker, an alternative version of the Theatre Ticker that takes text input[/p]
  • [p]Added more Super Weapons to Kalarry's Warez: Grenade Launcher, Rocket Launcher, Chaingun[/p]
  • [p]Replaced the Decimator milestone slot with the Chaingun Jetpack (Decimator has been moved to Kalarry's Warez with other Superweapons)[/p]
  • [p]The D.I.Y. store attendant's hat spinning light is more noticeable[/p]
  • [p]Reworked how seating poses are applied internally. This will allow players in special poses (via a Hidden Seat) to blend their animation with Emotes and look around[/p]
  • [p]Adjusted various offsets for the special seating poses to more closely match the head's position[/p]

  • [p]Fixed SDK3 Workshop models not sitting on the Santa Throne[/p]

  • [p]The nutcrackers at the game world ports no longer cover up the screens.[/p]

Optimizations
  • [p]Broke the boardwalk up into chunks that can have improved LODs to improve overdraw and tri counts at a distance[/p]
  • [p]Improved the performance of anti-aliasing across all graphical settings with no noticeable visual impact[/p]
  • [p]Optimized the night lighting throughout the plaza and is now much more performant[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a massive performance issue that was caused by a bug which doubled up dynamic lights on top of each other in the stores areas, improving the performance in this area significantly[/p]
  • [p]Improved performance, render distances, etc. for numerous misc. lights throughout the Plaza[/p]
  • [p]Set up ocrohedral LODs for several foliage meshes[/p]
