Weekly Dev Log for April 11th, 2023

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Weekly Dev Log for April 11th, 2023, detailing all the changes that have happened since April 3rd, 2023. Note: Devs that don't appear in the weekly log are not necessarily away or not doing work, but may be working on things currently not announced or backend work that doesn't need to be detailed.

[h2]March / April 2023 Condo Contest - Tree House - VOTING OPEN[/h2]

Hey everyone!

The theme for the March/April contest is Tree House!

So, build a house in a tree! You can build your own tree or use one of the existing ones, and feel free to make your tree house in any style.

Also, remember that you can disable collision on items (such as trees) by right clicking and selecting Disable Collision.

Voting is now underway, so make sure to vote for your favorite condo submission!

The voting period ends on April 13th, 2023 at 11:59 PM.

[h2]Update 0.16.8.0 - 2023 Anniversary Events[/h2]

Last week, we released Update 0.16.8.0, which brought back Anniversary events, new items, a updated and optimized Plaza, and more!

Over the weekend, we released Hotfix 0.16.8.1 which fixed various bugs and issues that were introduced with the initial update.

Nuclearxpotato worked on getting the finishing touches done for Catzek Temple, such as various props and a statuette model for the hidden plushies achievement.

macdguy worked on getting the Anniversary update released, and fixed bugs and issues that came up over the weekend.

madmijk continued working on MIDI support. He also worked on an item that allows the player to control various instruments at once.

Nuclearxpotato continued working on Anniversary items.

Sketchman continued working on backend improvements.

Will continued working on music for Ball Race: Heavenscape.

  • Plaza: Added Dev HQ hidden area back into the plaza
  • Plaza: Improved LOD for Bowling Alley sign
  • Plaza: Updated Plaza's loading screen image to be more up to date
  • Virus: Reverted the change to the Dual Silencers. Left/right click now fires left/right barrels again
  • Workshop: Added fallback support for mouth offset if the workshop model did not have one set
  • Libretro: Added 4:3 and Vertical screen ratio modes to Masher Cabinet

Tower Unite Anniversary Events! (0.16.8.0)


To celebrate Tower Unite's debut to Early Access, we're starting our Anniversary Event celebrations!

Kalleira, wanting to celebrate with everyone, caused mayhem by bringing in all the characters and minigames from all the holiday events. Due to her magic, this event features minigames from Halloween events and Winter Holiday events all at the same time!



You can also earn Anniversary Coins from playing any of the game worlds or minigames in Tower and unlock anniversary themed items, Halloween items, and Winter Holiday items!

This event will last for the entire month of April, so you'll be able to take your time getting coins!

[h2]Little Crusaders and Accelerate Payouts have increased![/h2]
We've more or less doubled the payouts for both Little Crusaders and Accelerate to encourage more multiplayer variety. Little Crusaders in particular earns you more when you have more players in the game.

Johanna worked on fixing Plaza Lighting and getting it ready for release.

Joshua continued working on Anniversary items.

Lifeless continued working the Ball Race map, "Heavenscape".

macdguy worked on fixing Plaza issues. He fixed bugs with the Rollercoaster, fixing the lights and guardrails, removing the double station stop, and fixing the achievements. He also added a mouth offset for Workshop models. Adjusted various things in Virus, such as being able to pickup TNT after it has been thrown, adjusted the akimbo pistols, adding/updating sounds, and updated the physics on the Crossbow bolts (so they physics now when breaking glass instead of just hovering in midair).

madmijk continued working on MIDI support. He also rebaked movement for the Monorail in the Plaza.

Nuclearxpotato continued working on Anniversary items and other items.

Sketchman continued working on backend improvements. He also made new achievements for Virus: Catzek Temple.

Will started working on music for Ball Race: Heavenscape.

We've created a forum post asking the community for suggestions on how we can improve gameplay for players with certain conditions such as colorblindness, dyslexia, or anything else that might affect a players ability to use the standard presentation and controls of the game.

Last week, we released Update 0.16.7.0, which brought Part 2 of Dark (renamed to "Mushroom Wood"), as well as various fixes.

Lifeless worked on getting the Minigolf map, "Mushroom Wood" ready for release, as well as working the Ball Race map, "Heavenscape."

macdguy worked on VR last week, adding a menu and the wrist menu. He worked on the foundations of the HUD interface, for popup prompts, and started on item pickups. He also released the update.

madmijk continued working on MIDI support.

Nuclearxpotato worked on Anniversary items, as well as the finishing touches for the Virus map, "Catzek Temple".

Sketchman worked on new achievement icons for "Cardboard Castle" and "Mushroom Wood". He also did touchups on some older achievement icons (specifically Virus).

Wheezwer continued working on signage for the Virus map, "Theme Park".
