Weekly Dev Log for April 25th, 2022

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Weekly Dev Log for April 25th, 2022, detailing all the changes that have happened since April 18th, 2022. Note: Devs that don't appear in the weekly log are not necessarily away or not doing work, but may be working on things currently not announced or backend work that doesn't need to be detailed.

[h2]Accessibility Suggestions[/h2]
We've created a forum post asking the community for suggestions on how we can improve gameplay for players with certain conditions such as colorblindness, dyslexia, or anything else that might affect a players ability to use the standard presentation and controls of the game.

If you have any ideas or suggestions, and possible solutions on how to solve a particular issue, please check out the forum post here.

[h2]Update 0.15.1.1[/h2]
We're continuing to work on the 0.15.1.1 update, which fixes a bunch of bug fixes and crash fixes, as well as some minor changes.

[h2]SDNL: Containership[/h2]
Johanna continued working on Containership, furthering the art and shortening the ship so it matches the layout more.

[h2]Miscellany[/h2]

Lifeless continued working on the blockout for SDNL: Frostbite.

macdguy worked on fixing some issues with the player blocking system, as well as making it easier to block / mute players. He also continued working on Casino: Phase 2, fixing some issues with poker and figuring out how the newer games are going to be designed and implemented.

JJosh continued working on various items and third party plushes.

Madmijk continued working on the Condo instruments, working on adding a bunch of sound samples.

Sketchman continued working on backend improvements and optimizations, working on improving workshop performance. He also started working on Casino: Phase 2.

Wheezwer continued working on Steam backgrounds and art for the Horse Racing Casino machine.

Will continued working on music for SDNL.

[h3]Easier Player Blocking WIP[/h3]

This popup menu will show up when clicking on players on the scoreboard or chat. We plan to expand this popup to other parts of the game such as the voice chat and directly clicking on player models.

This will also have a "Permissions" option while you are in condos to access condo permissions faster.

We also plan to add condo owner options as a popup like this when you right click on players. So you can easily teleport to / from and issue out kick / bans without having to open the profile each time.

We're continuing to work on the 0.15.1.1 hotfix, which fixes a bunch of bug fixes and crash fixes, as well as some minor changes.

Johanna continued working on SDNL: Containership.

Lifeless continued working on fixes for Zombie Massacre: Acrophobia, as well as working on Virus: Corrosion.

macdguy worked on bug fixes. He fixed some issues where the player fade system wouldn't work properly in the Casino. He also worked a bit on SDNL, adjusting the slide mechanic.

Madmijk continued working on the Condo instruments, working on implementing the instrument sounds.

Sketchman continued working on backend improvements and optimizations, working on improving workshop performance.

Wheezwer continued working on Steam backgrounds.

[h2]March / April 2022 Condo Contest (CLOSED: NOW VOTING)[/h2]

[h2]Update 0.15.1.0[/h2]
Last week, we released Update 0.15.1.0, which brought numerous optimizations, the new Zombie Massacre map, Acrophobia, as well as the return of the Anniversary events.

You can view the entire 0.15.1.0 changelog here.

We also released a hot fix over the weekend that fixed some issues with the initial release, and we're planning another hotfix to be released within the next few days.

[h2]Casino: Phase 2[/h2]
The next aspect of Tower Unite we're tackling is Phase 2 of the Casino.

This phase will introduce more Casino activities, such as Horse Race Betting, Bingo, Roulette, Blackjack, and more.

We've shown it off before in past Dev Logs, but for those who are new or have forgotten, here's a sneak peek at the next phase of the Casino.

Wheezwer worked on posters and banners for the Plaza, while also working on backgrounds for Steam.

Hot Fix for 0.15.1.0

This update addresses several bugs from the new update.

Changes
  • ZM: Reduced darkness of the zombie silhouette and made them fade out based on distance
  • ZM: Drone Buddy bullet tracers are now blue, also improved the drone buddy's textures to stand out a bit more
  • ZM: Increased self heal of Explosive Flasks from 5 to 10
  • While in noclip, crouching no longer moves you down if you are hovered over the gizmo editor or an item editor prompts
  • ZM: Improved combo power up indication, added a circle on the inside of the health circle that lights up when a player has their combo power
  • ZM: Added outlines to weapon pickups to make them stand out more
  • ZM: Improved point pickup visuals to stand out more
  • Improved Physics-al Media physics
Bug Fixes
  • Plaza: Fixed viewself mode (right click) causing the character to rotate towards the camera's direction
  • ZM: Fixed issues with Exploding Flask not arcing properly on Acrophobia
  • ZM: Fixed equipment placement sometimes not placing upright
  • ZM: Fixed equipment placement not placing on certain ramps in Acrophobia
  • ZM: Fixed several navigation issues in Acrophobia
  • Fixed Forest Green condo material world align being stretched
  • ZM: Fixed Advanced upgrade for Journalist's Radio Tower not upgrading radius properly
  • Fixed voice chat toggling when playing the Piano instruments
  • ZM: Fixed several spots where players should not have been able to get to in Acrophobia
  • ZM: Fixed Mastered Nightyard achievement not unlocking on Steam's end
  • Fixed Gameworld Ports floor collision
  • Condo - Highrise: Fixed weather fog issues
  • Condo - Highrise: Fixed collisions on some windows
  • Minigolf - Treasure Cove: Fixed double pipe in hole 18
  • Fixed screen materials being dark on certain graphics settings
  • LC: Fixed knights holding items in the wrong hand
  • LC: Physics items (swords) no longer can be kicked away into the distance
  • Fixed voice chat bars not removing sometimes
  • Virus - Solar: Fixed stair issues
