The Looping Room, Explained — FAQ
General questions
[p][/p]
What kind of game is this?
[p]The Floor Above is a psychological horror where you’re strapped to a chair in a looping room. You can’t move — only rotate, blink, and choose.[/p][p]Your challenge: separate reality from hallucination, survive the loop and unlock the truth. Every choice matters. [/p]
 • [p]Discover the story of a man named Mike and the room he cannot escape[/p]
 • [p]Don’t trust your eyes: blink and decide whether you see reality or a hallucination[/p]
 • [p]Face claustrophobic nightmare anomalies [/p]
 • [p]Discover hidden lore through the narrator… and Morty the cat 🐈[/p]
How is it different from other horror games?
[p]Instead of running or hiding, you go on by observing. Every blink, every choice matters. It’s less about jumpscares and more about atmosphere, tension, and doubt.[/p][p][/p]
How long is the demo?
[p]Up to 1 hour, depending on how carefully you play and your success with reaching level 9. [/p][p][/p]
Can I move around the room?
[p]No, that’s the point. You’re stuck in a chair. At least, until you make nine right choices in sequence. Then… something happens.[/p][p][/p]
Is this VR?
[p]Not at the moment, but we are considering a VR release in the future.[/p][p][/p]
Does the demo have saves or checkpoints?
[p]No, but it’s short and designed for one sitting. If you exit the game, your room counter will drop to zero.[/p][p][/p]
What are your socials?
[p]Join our Discord server, follow us on X and TikTok.[/p][p][/p]
Gameplay
[p][/p]
How does blinking work?
[p]It’s your way to check if something’s real — or a hallucination. If you see something wrong with the room, try to blink (right click) — if the anomaly has disappeared, it was a hallucination. If not, press the red button.[/p][p][/p]
What happens if I press the wrong button?
[p]A wrong choice will reset your loop to zero, and you will have to start the counter again. [/p][p][/p]
Are there jumpscares?
[p]There are some, but the main focus is psychological tension and atmosphere.[/p][p][/p]
Story & Lore
[p][/p]
Will there be lore to uncover?
[p]Yes, both in narration and hidden details you can piece together. Be attentive, check every detail, try every move, and you will be rewarded with knowledge.[/p][p][/p]
Who is the narrator?
[p]That’s one of the secrets you are supposed to uncover. Also, in the full game, there will be multiple narrators each with their own story.[/p][p][/p]
Why is the room looping floor by floor?
[p]That’s also for you to discover. Each new floor hides new anomalies and hints about the truth.[/p][p][/p]
What about Morty the Cat?
[p]He’s real. Or is he? In the demo he makes a short appearance — in the full game, he may know more than he shows.[/p][p][/p]
Content & Release
[p][/p]
What’s included in the demo?
[p]1 narrator, 1 ending, 35+ anomalies, Morty’s first appearance, and 3 hidden easter eggs.[/p][p][/p]
And in the full game?
[p]5 endings (including the true one), 145+ anomalies, multiple narrators, hours of gameplay, horrors and secrets.[/p][p][/p]
When is the full release planned?
[p]We expect to release the full game in the end of 2025, or in the beginning of 2026. [/p][p][/p]
Will there be post-launch content (DLC, extra modes)?
[p]There are no such plans at this time, but it’s possible. [/p][p][/p]
Do you plan to support mods or Steam Workshop?
[p]No.[/p][p][/p]
Will there be localization?
[p]Full English and 13 other text localizations, with more languages planned.[/p][p][/p]
Can I stream or record the game?
[p]Absolutely — we’d love to see your reactions. Please send us links to your content![/p][p][/p]
Do you provide a media kit or official assets for content creators?
[p]Sure, you can download assets by this link. Also, feel free to contact us if you have any specific requests or questions. [/p][p][/p]
Technical Questions
[p][/p]
Is the game supported on Steam Deck?
[p]The demo version does not support Steam Deck, but we plan to support it in the full release.[/p][p][/p]
Can I play with a controller, or is it keyboard/mouse only?
[p]The controller support will be added in the full game.[/p][p][/p]
Which platforms are planned?
[p]PC via Steam for now. We’ll explore other platforms later including VR.[/p][p][/p]
