Few animals can compare with the mouflon in endurance and tenacity. This huge ram with curled horns rightfully bears the glory of the pioneer of the wasteland. Not the lightest on his feet, inferior in speed to southern horses, he is capable of tirelessly moving forward day and night - through rocky plains, windbreaks and impassable mountain ranges.
Wasteland dwellers tame mouflons and use them as mounts. Many hunters also choose them as companions and value them very much for their tenacity. However, taming a mouflon is oh so difficult. First you need to track down the young Aries in the ridges. Then he needs to be caught, and woe to the hunter who throws a rope over the horns of the beast, forgetting to untie its other end from his hand! Everyone knows that a rope must be tied to a stone or a strong tree, otherwise you won’t be able to collect the bones. And when a mouflon is caught, you need to wait until it is exhausted. And the wait may drag on for several days.
The exhausted mouflon needs to be saddled and waited until he gets to his feet and tries to throw the annoying rider off his back. If the hunter manages to stay on the back of an angry animal during a frantic race, the mouflon will humble himself and begin to obey his rider. It is on such tamed rams that skirmishers ride during the great hunt.
Rare traders who venture north sometimes buy mighty rams from the inhabitants of the wastelands, although this does not happen often. However, sometimes in the southern markets you can meet grooms offering the heroes to buy real pioneers of the wasteland - for hard cash, of course.
And even if it was not you who tracked down and tamed the tireless mouflon, he remembers how he was once caught and restrained, and will obey you wherever you send him. Tirelessly, he will carry you forward, through all obstacles. And you just grab his horns tighter, so that if necessary, you won’t have to catch up with the stubborn beast on foot.
