The Legend of He Nu

Another time, Sursh told the regulars of the Hellsong Tavern about He Nu. He allegedly saw it in the world where the mythical City-Above-the-Abyss exists.

Sursh said that he took out a drum to return home, but then this beast came out of the bushes. It looked like a bear, only the color of its fur was different. In addition, the bear there wore unusual clothes, was smart and introduced himself as He Nu.

The black and white bear was an ordinary farmer who lived in the forest and grew bamboo. He took the sticks to the monks of the Nyugong Order, and he dried the leaves and made tea from them. He Nu turned out to be very hospitable, so he invited Sursh to his place and treated him to a herbal drink.

The regulars of the Hellsong Tavern again did not believe Sursh, because they knew that bamboo leaves cannot be brewed. He was offended, said that he was going to the City-Above-the-Abyss, and left. No one saw him again. Perhaps he really did go to that mysterious place. Or, as many believe, he found another tavern where he tells his nonsense about the City-Above-the-Abyss.

The Story of Nyugun

At one point, Garlinor stopped appearing in the Hellsong Tavern. Instead, Sursh the Invulnerable began telling tales about the City-Above-the-Abyss. He claimed that Garlinor was a deceiver, but he really had visited another world. And he got there with the help of a drum.
The artifact took him not to the City-Above-the-Abyss itself, but to the forests that surround it. There he was found by monks of the Nyugun order, similar to large cats. Only they walked on two legs and were dressed in strange long robes.

But the Nyugun were not just hermits. In fact, they were skilled warriors who used staffs and fought like monks from the Sphere. But their skill reached such heights that the gods themselves bowed before them. At the same time, the Nyugun fought with simple sticks made of bamboo.

Sursha was laughed at after this story, because everyone knows that cats cannot be monks. But he did not calm down and said that he even wanted to bring a stick from the Nyugong Order to the tavern. However, the monks did not allow it and threw him out of the monastery, so he returned to the Sphere.

Fusan Branch

The last tale about the City Above the Abyss that Garlinor told was the story of the Fusan Tree. The demon claimed that in the city, right in the main square, there grew a huge tree. Allegedly, it would take fifty demons to embrace it.

This tree serves as a talisman for the demons that live in that world. The locals collect seeds and grow small copies of the Fusan, and then take them to the villages so that the power of the great tree will protect them too.

Some demons turn the Fusan into accessories that they carry with them. They hang Gongmu lanterns and coins on them so that when they travel, they always have a full wallet and the protection of the great god.

Of course, no one took Garlinor's stories seriously. Who would believe this scoundrel? However, the idea of carrying a talisman appealed to some of the tavern's patrons, and they made themselves something similar to what Garlinor described.
