But not all the swamp dwellers greeted the newcomers with fury. On one of their forays, the soldiers discovered a huge, imperturbable toad, nicknamed Puchega.

It was striking not only for its size, but also for its calm, almost intelligent nature. The soldiers quickly realized that if they shared food with it, the animal became surprisingly docile. Puchega proved incredibly resilient, capable of carrying heavy chests and luggage on their broad backs for hours.

Upon returning to Erikuria, the expedition brought back several of these amazing creatures. Although they did not reproduce in captivity, their lifespan proved incredible. Several Puchega remained at the royal court, while others were bought by aristocrats as living, tireless porters.

Amidst the perils of Nispad, humans encountered a creature more terrifying than even the ancient crocodiles. This was Arcanus—a terrifying hybrid of man and a gigantic serpent.

At their first encounter with the monster, humans rushed to attack, but the mages' spells bounced off its scales. Only with incredible effort did one sorcerer manage to pierce its defenses, clearing the way for the warriors' blades.

When the monster fell, its body was sent to the capital for study. But the monster's greatest mystery lay in the orb clutched in its hand. The mage who dealt the fatal blow picked up the artifact and beheld a terrifying vision: swamps, pulsing with life, engulfed the entire south, and then the entire Sphere, turning it into a boundless, fetid quagmire. In horror, he dropped the orb, and it sank without a trace into the abyss.

The mages of Erikuria, upon hearing the story, were skeptical of the prophecy. However, since then, small detachments of sorcerers have been regularly sent to Nispad—to scout out the area. Just in case. To be prepared if the ancient swamp really does begin to expand.
