On the Wings of the Storm

The last spirit that Hemsaru created was Sarih. He was forged from the souls of ordinary people who died in a fratricidal war.

Sarih could control nature itself. His wide wings could disperse storms, direct rains to the fields, change the courses of rivers. Thanks to him, the inhabitants of Men-Nefer did not know hunger.

But Sarih had one flaw - unlike other spirits, he was willful. He obeyed the pharaoh, but only in the beginning. The spirit saw the methods by which Hemsaru was expanding the empire, and he did not like it. The last straw was the destruction of the priests of Wet-Narib, after which Sarih left.
The spirit knew that Hemsaru could disembody him, so he patiently waited for the death of the creator. When this happened, Sarih returned. With his wings, he did not allow a single gust of cool wind to blow on the territory of the empire, not a single drop to spill on the possessions of his dead creator. Gradually, the rivers dried up, the fields and forests turned into deserts.

And now, when only sand remains of the empire, sometimes it seems as if huge wings flicker in the sultry haze...

Stories of Amaat

Hemsaru's third creation was the majestic cat Amaat. The pharaoh put the souls of warriors into her creation, who combined the speed of a cheetah with the wisdom of ancient priests.

Hemsaru traveled across his vast empire on this gigantic beast. When the pharaoh could not personally visit distant cities, Amaat rushed there alone and did not simply convey orders, but taught and became a temporary ruler.

After the decline of the empire of Men-Nefer, Amaat did not disappear like other creations. She turned into a patron spirit of the desert, helping caravans cross the desert. To those who treated her with respect, she told stories about her creator and his vast empire, thanks to which today we know about the past of this land.

Secrets of Duat

Khemsaru's second creation was Duat. Unlike the furious Hek-Urun, the pharaoh forged this spirit from the souls of warriors who were pure in heart. With its help, the pharaoh established trade relations, carried goods and delivered messages. When the Hans River flooded an entire province, it was Duat that brought healing herbs and bread to the victims, saving thousands of lives.

But Khemsaru was not only a wise ruler, but also a cunning one. He used Duat to poison his enemies in neighboring states. "It is better to strike a secret blow than to arrange a massacre," the pharaoh believed.

With the death of Khemsaru, Duat lost its meaning. First, it wandered through the desert, and then carved out a sarcophagus and hid inside, as if in a forgotten tomb. The sands of centuries swallowed him up, but legends say that if you dig up the stone tomb and pronounce the true name of the spirit, he will come to light again...
