Machinarium Turns 15 Years Old

Machinarium, our first full-length game originally released in 2009, turns 15 years old today!

The success of Machinarium has allowed us to remain a fully independent studio, continue making games we love, and even grow a little to have more teams working on multiple projects at once. Nowadays, we are developing four games, including the cardboard-built Phonopolis, and we look forward to sharing more with you when the time is right!

If you’ve been thinking of picking up something Amanita, now might be the perfect time. Our early Christmas merch sale starts today and runs until November 6 to make sure all gifts are delivered in time, wherever you are. The sale, of course, includes the adorable Josef and Berta plushies or the Machinarium soundtrack by Tomáš Dvořák (aka Floex) on vinyl ːjosefːːmuchomurkaːːbertaː

We are forever grateful for the support you've shown us over the many years.

Thank you!

Machinarium Joins The First Ever IGF Celebration Days on Steam

The Independent Games Festival has been around for over 20 years and now, for the first time ever, comes a Steam event dedicated not only to this year’s IGF winners and nominees but also to some of the greatest indie games that succeeded at the festival in the years before. Until 20 July, you can grab dozens of awesome games at a discount and even try a few demos, such as the beautifully stylish Nirvana Noir by Feral Cat Den or 11bit’s latest title, The Alters. Machinarium was awarded for 'Excellence in Visual Art' back in 2009.

You'll find it all on the special sale page: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/IGF_CelebrationDays

We’ve been lucky to succeed at IGF five times with Samorost 2, Machinarium, Botanicula, CHUCHEL, and most recently, Phonopolis. Of course - with the obvious exception of Phonopolis that we're currently working on - all of these games and their DLCs are also on sale with up to 85% discount!

Enjoy the event and have a great summer,
Amanita Design ːmrsmushroomː

Phonopolis - a new adventure from Amanita Design!

We’re excited to introduce Phonopolis - a new hand-crafted adventure set in a dystopian city made of cardboard where everybody obeys the oppressive Leader's orders - except for one young man… Enjoy the first teaser trailer! It’s still going to take us a generous amount of time to finish the game - please don’t expect it to come out within the next 12 months - but we’re so glad to finally be able to share the first bits and pieces with you.

You can now add Phonopolis to your Steam wishlist. You'll also find a collection of new screenshots on its Steam page; and on its News hub, there's a post where you can read more about the game's story, inspirations, and creative process. And it's also the place where we'll be sharing further updates ːsamorost_spiritː

Happy Game from Amanita Design is OUT NOW!

The latest Amanita Design game has just landed on Steam!

It’s Happy Game, our darkest, creepiest, and most twisted adventure so far, coming from the team behind Botanicula and CHUCHEL.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1206060/Happy_Game/

Happy Game is an absurd horror adventure game designed by Jaromír Plachý, who previously brought you the family-friendly games Botanicula and CHUCHEL. This time, however, Jaromír decided to make something a little less cheerful, and the result of his team’s work is a psychedelic journey through a little boy’s three horrible nightmares, each with its own style, creatures and puzzles.

Get in the proper mood with the very happy launch trailer:

Once again, we’re very happy to have worked with our favorite Czech music duo DVA, who created all of the spooky sounds and music for Happy Game. The original soundtrack is also available to purchase on Steam and is coming later to streaming services as well.

Please note: Happy Game is not a happy game.

Machinarium is selling the best merch: a bronze statuette of its adorable star

I don't buy video game merch, and if I did buy video game merch I wouldn't buy statues, and yet... my heart melts looking at Machinarium's hot new merch drop. Amanita are selling a limited run of bronze statuettes of the adventure game's adorable scrap robot star, Josef, and I love him. 405 grams of bronze might sound cold to hold but I know he'd warm my heart.
