Developer update #10

Hello everyone,

it has been quite a while since our last update, so here is some information on what is going on behind the scenes:
- Female character models are now working in the dev version of the game.
- We are working (and have been working) on correct transformation while animations are active (think dress on a walking woman).
- Clothing has been (almost) fully implemented, some of you may have noticed the linked screens below already on our indiedb page;
-- Picture with both male and female characters in new clothing
-- Closer picture of female character in a dress
-- Closer picture of male character in his shiny new suit
- Character creation got overhauled, we now have a character creation and perk selection screen.
- We've done some optimization, mainly for the pathfinding.
- Some nasty bugs have been zapped (hopefully).

We're working very hard to get you guys a beta- and full release as soon as possible, in the meantime, let us know what you think about the upcoming features!

Signing off,
The Oreol team.

Developer update #9

Hello everyone,

it's been a while since the last post, so here's what we have been working on since then:
- Reworking the female character model (hey, how you doin'?)
- An equipment system for your companions
- We've gone through several iterations of the battle system, but haven't gotten it to the point where we like it yet.

We will be releasing separate dev posts for each of these features as they get finalized, so keep an eye on more updates!

Signing off,
The Oreol team

Developer update #8

Hello all,

with the summer vacation about to end we're all back to working on Kingdoms. Here's what we have worked on since the last update:
- Creating a female character model
- Creating and fitting clothes on the female model
- Families and relations between NPCs
- We've added a new spawn location for players, it is on a ship that is about to land on the coasts of our continent.
- We are working on creating a proper interface for the features that we mentioned in the previous dev update (link).

Keep up the bug reporting, for some bugs we do not have enough information yet to reproduce them, making the issue very difficult or even impossible to pinpoint, every extra bug report helps us eliminate possible causes, allowing us to narrow down the issue and fix it.

Have a great week,

the Oreol team

Weekly update #7 - Hey, do you wanna join my party?

Hi all,

as usual, here is a list of things we've been working on this week:

- More options for face generation + some tweaking of earlier settings (bye bye Darth Sidious)
- Ways to recruit NPCs to your party
- The NPC battle algorithms, basically governing what NPCs will do when in a fight.
- We have been finishing up the new player creation interface (here you can watch our prigress with it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKmUJc7ctQo&feature=youtu.be)
- Adding VR support (very heavily work in progess)
- More jobs for NPCs in towns (less sitting around and more action!)
- NPC patrol algorithms, players will be able to set patrols in and around settlements to protect them.
- Bugfixing, all the issues you have reported have been worked on.

(semi-)weekly update #6 - Dude, what happened to your face?

Hi all,

first off, sorry for not posting an update last week, we've been busy with other things that are important too ._.

Anyway, while you guys have been spending way too much money on games you probably won't play (I did the same) we've been busy working on the game. Here's what we did the past two weeks:
- Face customization: The faces of players and NPCs will have over 80 parameters for different parts of the face, we've been implementing and testing these on the dev version and they are now fully functional
- Face emotions: Friendly NPCs will look friendly or happy while the grumpy "go away" NPCs will look angry. That should help you when looking for a friendly conversation with an NPC ;)
- We've been working on the interface for the new player face customization.
- We've added an age parameter, meaning characters will actually look young or old.
- We are working on proper hair, since standard Unity doesn't offer us what we need.
- For the travelers among us we have added horses. For now they are just animals like (for instance) deer, but we'll add more functionality to them soon

If you guys would like to see some more of the face editor, click here for a youtube video which shows just a few things that are possible with the face creator.

Thank you for your time and be sure to report any bugs you find in the current stable version in our bugs subforum.

Have a great day,

the Oreol team
