It’s been quiet around City Transport Simulator for a while – but behind the scenes, we’ve been working intensively on the future of the game. Now we can finally announce it officially:

[/p][h2]Dynamic Weather and Seasons[/h2][p]
CTS 2026 makes the city more dynamic than ever. For the first time, the game features a fully dynamic weather and season system.


The city changes throughout the year – from fresh spring greenery to hot summer days, colorful autumn leaves, and snowy winter streets. The weather also evolves dynamically throughout the day, so while driving, you may encounter sunshine, fog, rain, snow, or even thunderstorms.


These changes also directly affect your vehicles. Temperature variations influence heating and cooling systems, windows can fog up, and wipers automatically activate when it rains. All buses and trams have been updated with realistic climate systems, window functions, and other new details.

[/p][h2]Realistic Ticketing System[/h2][p]
One feature many of you have been asking for is finally here: a fully realistic ticketing system.


Buses in CTS 2026 now have functional ticket machines, allowing you to sell tickets directly to passengers – just like in real life. Passengers can pay with cash or contactless, choose the ticket type they want, and respond accordingly, either thanking you for correct handling or complaining if something goes wrong.

A new ITCS system also assists you during your routes, showing key operational info, such as the next stop and whether you’re on schedule.


[/p][h2]Free Roam – Explore the City Beyond the Driver’s Seat[/h2][p]
One of the biggest new features in CTS 2026 is the Free Roam mode.

For the first time, you can freely explore the entire city as a pedestrian, walk to stops, wait for vehicles, and then hop on a KI bus or tram as a passenger.


You’re not just a passenger, though. You can take control of any vehicle at any time and drive a bus or tram yourself – all without loading screens. You can also hand vehicles back to KI drivers at end stops and move freely through the city, making the transition between bus and tram much more natural and immersive.


[/p][h2]New Vehicle DLC: Citybus C2[/h2][p]
Alongside CTS 2026, a new vehicle DLC will launch: the Citybus C2.


The DLC includes four variants of the popular city bus – two solo bus versions and two articulated bus versions. All vehicles are highly detailed and provide an authentic driving experience with fully modeled cockpits, realistic engine and interior sounds, and numerous interactive systems.


The C2 also supports all new CTS 2026 systems, including realistic climate control, functional wipers, in-vehicle ticketing, and modern driver assistance systems like blind-spot detection and traffic sign recognition.

The Citybus C2 DLC also launches on April 14 for €19.99.

[/p][h2]More Atmosphere and Detail[/h2][p]
Alongside major gameplay features, we’ve improved countless details to make the city feel truly alive.


A new dynamic lighting system creates more atmospheric day/night cycles and realistic lighting, with noticeable changes across the seasons.

Passengers have been fully overhauled with new models, more clothing variety, and additional voices, reacting to their surroundings – using umbrellas when it rains or wearing warm clothes in winter.


Driver animations have also been improved: they now hold the steering wheel or tram lever realistically, and even drivers of oncoming vehicles react and wave as you pass.


[/p][h2]Performance and Stability Improvements[/h2][p]
CTS 2026 also brings major performance and stability upgrades, especially on consoles.

The KI spawning system has been overhauled, loading and unloading vehicles dynamically to reduce crashes. KI vehicles now follow routes more reliably and organize automatically at end stations.


While these changes may seem small individually, together they make City Transport Simulator feel much more immersive and alive.
