Hotfix 0.10.0.15324

Greetings, Jotun-snacks!

We’ve released a hotfix that should solve a ton of reported issues. We are still investigating some new network related issues.
Windows Timing Issues
Some scientists have reported that the Einstein or Faraday join codes pop up if they have manually changed their desktop time (e.g. not using Automatic for setting time in Windows) so this should be avoided. We recommend setting your clock time to Automatic if you are experiencing this issue. It may (or may not) resolve it.

Please update your game and servers when you get a moment away from scientific study. If you don't receive an update, verify your game files.

Hotfix v0.10.0.15324 Changes:
Balance Tweaks:
• Plutonic Blood is now available in an office, at a teleportation dispenser in the Atomic Division Labs (Dusk Reactor).
 • Volatile Exor no longer detonates as frequently.
 • Volatile Exor can now be killed during their detonation phase.
 • Field Battery recipe has changed to no longer require an Eel Organ as it now requires Crystalline Dust.
 • IS-0128 damage increased, including damage from exploding goo balls on surfaces
 • Some Gatekeepers are now weak to Acid. (IS-1028 deals Acid damage, by the way.)
 • Gatekeeper Witches are a bit tougher to kill.
 • Removed story progression requirement for trading an item in the trade inventory of one larvy boi.
 • The Rocket Launcher now weighs an amount of weight.
 • Sappers have slightly better eyesight, but worse peripheral vision.
Furniture Deployment Changes:
• Fixed several issues where Deployables were not properly calculating their bounds, causing things like chests to not be placeable as close to walls as they should have been. This also corrected some ceiling-placement issues and would also fix a few other cases where deploying wouldn’t work.
 • Teleporter Pads now have better deployment rules, allowing for tighter fits.
 • Fixed an issue where some crates with lids would block deploying objects on top of them when the lid was open.
Trader Changes:
• Trader Marion now trades Plutonic Carapace for a bit o' scrap, once you're down in Reactors.
 • After completing Security Sector, Trader Marion now sells what we can assume is a bootleg copy of IS-0099, if you've got the right goods to exchange for it. This should alleviate the issue for people who may have clumsily dropped their own IS-0099 into the tramway or something.
 • Traders should no longer randomly disappear mid-day and should typically stick around until midnight on the same day they arrive.
Other Changes / Bug Fixes:
• If scientists leave an area where a character is talking to them, they will now be granted the correct story progression, recipes, and other rewards immediately to avoid softlock issues.
 • Cloud Reactor objective progression backup triggers fixed, so scientists who skip certain things might still get clear objectives.
 • Fixed a bug where a certain void space scary what the heck is going on area would allow you to skip a major portion of the Reactors by dying and respawning from there
 • Giant's Pack now properly knows its supposed to be a backpack and should no longer lose item slots or cause other weird issues
 • Potential fix for an issue where scientists could fall through the floor when loading a specific area too slowly outside of Mist Reactor.
 • IS-0128 is now pettable when held in hands. (Secondary Fire by default.)
 • IS-0128 is now held properly when viewed by other scientists.
 • Fixed a spot in Reactor Tramway where some grates above very deadly spinning fanblades did not have collision.
 • Fixed a hole by a waterfall near Reactors monitoring room.
 • Fixed a hole underneath an elevator in Gale Reactor.
 • Fixed a hole above an elevator as well. The writer of these patch notes is not sure where that one was, but you won’t find it now either.
 • Fixed an area in Gale Reactor where scientists could science theirselves behind some yellow pipes. The fools!
 • Fixed a hole in some underwater rocks allowing for a sneaky peek into an even sneakier cove.
 • Fixed some floating lights in Mist Reactor.
 • Fixed an issue where scientists could swim down into a pool and unload the area they were in.
 • Lowered volume of a particular village leader
 • Giant's Pack buff text when viewing item tooltip now indicates what it does
 • Fixed a bug where Lab Rats weren't dropping certain higher tier resources as you progressed further into the story
 • Fixed our favorite tunnel-dwelling High Inquisitor standing up and playing an animation during one of his lines.
 • Quill Bolts have been renamed to Seeker Quills, to avoid confusion with other Bolt-type weapons.
 • Fixed being able to select locked background scenes with right click.
 • Fix some citizens of Anteverse 23 standing around braindead. And not in like, the way they’re supposed to because, you know. The way they are.
 • Increased reliability of a Sapper showing up where he's supposed to in the Atomic Labs control room
 • Fixed reliability of glass breaking during Sapper introduction in Atomic Labs control room.
 • Dr. Jager should no longer bleed pink. We decided, in fact, he doesn’t need blood, pink or otherwise, and we’re sticking to that decision.
 • Fixed a very high-res stone texture. Stop trying to look GOOD, this is Abiotic Factor.
 • Exor Spirit will no longer collide with characters, including you.
 • Added a fix for spears and other thrown weapons falling through walls in certain cases.
 • Fixed an issue with the Exor Armor Set not properly stopping leg-breakage with 2 or more pieces equipped.
 • Added interactable liquid to many of the slopes in the Cloud Reactor area. These are still not fishable, but you can scoop from them as a resource, including with IS-0128.
 • Added interactable (and fishable) liquid to the area outside of Cloud Reactor Tram Station.
 • Fixed distant levels disappearing for the host when another scientist is in that level.
 • Fixed Hardlight Shield causing some strange bright lights to start propagating around your person. Very normal stuff, really.

Hotfix 0.10.0.15214

Greetings, Sapper-bait!

We’ve released a hotfix that should solve a major issue with progression in Security Sector, along with some other issues that were reported by our intrepid Scientists and Explorers.

Please update your game and servers when you get a moment away from scientific study. If you don't receive an update, verify your game files.

Hotfix v0.10.0.15214 Changes:
 • Keypad Hacker Tier 4 has a correct recipe. However, the Keypad Hacker suspiciously located in the Wildlife Pens was not correctly changed to Tier 3. We have reprimanded the security officer in charge of this change. It was Warren again, btw.
 • IS-0128 now produces an unusually blue feces on occasion… but only if they're tamed and not being held. This is quite useful, especially for Fertilizer Tier 3, which can finally be used by the gardeners among you! Get collecting! (HINT: Try the Net Launcher.)
 • Increased the frequency of Volatile Blood tubes found around the GATE Cascade Atomic Division laboratories.
 • Fixed various holes in walls that scientists have reported throughout Power Services. Please do not venture into these holes.
 • Fixed a strange cavity of non-water in the Buoyancy Lab. Scientists should no longer swim down and get stuck here. They can still swim down there, but we don’t recommend it because of the radiation.
 • Corrected several buffs that were missing icons.
 • NEW ACHIEVEMENT: Coreverse, a new achievement can now be earned by completing the main objective of The Encroachment in the Old Mines… If you have already been through the new Anteverse 299 content (there’s a bit more than meets the eye - poke around a bit more!) you can also get the achievement by returning to the central location.
 • Improved lighting conditions around the Encroachment - once it is powered up.
 • Added "Cold" text string to cold damage type in Compendium.
 • Village Den da’ko Yeer: Fixed a very confusing portal that would turn on (only visually) when the objective is complete.
 • Quill Spear no longer plays 2-dimensional audio to other players when fired.
 • Shock Traps should function again. Dr. Juranović was tinkering with some new ideas and he forgot to plug some stuff back in when he was done.
 • Dr. Riggs has noted an increased presence in lodestone fragments in the upper swamps of Canaan.
 • Fixed an anomalous Peccary that was rather inside a pillar. It is now non-anomalous. Nonomalous.
 • Fixed the issue with corn being placeable on frying pans. They are not intended to be cooked in this way, and let’s be honest, they just look dorky standing up like that.
 • Composers have never dropped robot parts, and anyone who says otherwise is a liar.
 • Potentially fixed a Steam Deck crash when inviting friends in the escape menu.
 • Fixed IS-0407 not properly engaging in the usual murderous behavior it seems to enjoy during those foggy spells.
 • Fixed several issues involving Laser Converters. No, we will not be undoing the infinite laser glitch. That would be unrealistic, and there is nothing unrealistic about this place. SCIENCE.
 • Fixed an issue where playing in offline mode would save data in the wrong location.
 • Disabled name searching in server browser as we work on this system. Scientists can join their friend’s Listen servers by using the Lobby Code and through joining through friends on Steam.
 • If a Dedicated Server is not showing up on the server browser in-game, close the game and open the Steam Server Browser and you should be able to locate and join the server from there.
 • Added a tooltip to the LAN button indicating that it's a work in progress and to try Direct Connect if scientists have issues joining one another. Thanks for your patience while we work on the game..

Dark Energy

[h5]Greetings, esteemed colleagues![/h5]

Take your iodine, because Dark Energy has arrived. The second major update for Abiotic Factor is here, and right on schedule, expanding again on the main story and adding a whole new sector - nay, a new region to explore!

Beneath is the fuel for a future unheralded. Darkness blending with light. An energy awakened, a path unveiling.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
As is standard, in a less serious tone - we’ve also got a dev vlog from Criss & Zag, which is sort of like a podcast but less entertaining, much shorter, and just a little bit of the good kind of cringe. If you prefer, you can skip over that and get to readin’! If you’d prefer no spoilers at all, feel free to also just launch into the game and take the update for a spin.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
The Maw of the Depths Opens Wide
As you venture downwards and prepare yourselves for the battlefields below, linger a spell in beautiful Power Services. We won’t say much more about the areas you’ll be entering, or how you’ll come to do so -- the Reactors is a large and unusual place, and we do like to let the Facility speak for itself. You will hear its voice soon enough.
New Faction: The Gatekeepers
If you’re the brains of GATE, we would like to introduce you to the brawn, and their agenda leaves little room for negotiation. Some questions will be answered. Some questions will be asked. Why have they gathered in the Reactors? What are they looking for? Who is holding the reins, if reins exist at all? Will we see [DATA REDACTED] again? And who are you in all of this? Well, you’re just a scientist from Office Sector, and you don’t belong down here.

Good luck navigating this landscape, egghead.
Traveling Trader: Marion
To start off, one of our favorite friends has found his way to the GATE Cascade Research Facility and offers a few odds and ends. All traveling traders will be lure-able by placing a unique object in your base, and they’ll come and go on various days of the week.

The other traders throughout the Facility will utilize this new UI as well, so say goodbye to dropping items into a bin – at least in these instances.
Remembering the Places We’ve Been
As you venture through the Reactors, new technology will find its way to you. Some call it inspiration, others call it luck, but either way, Teleporter Pads are a boon indeed. Placing down a teleporter allows it to link to another, creating an instant gateway between two points. It’s a bit expensive, but that is the price you pay for instant transportation.

Until then, take the trams. It’s always a nice time with friends.
Hardlight Technology
Who thought light could be hard? Someone at GATE, it seems. And by jove, they figured it out! Now it’s your turn to figure it out too. Hardlight technology can create bridges, bounce bullets (and maybe more?), and even provide a bit of protection the likes of which you’ve not yet seen. Enjoy this newfound tech in whatever way suits you best.
From Enemies to Allies
While we’re not quite ready to talk about our future wants for Pets 2.0, a few more creatures are making their way into your arsenal - and hearts. As with most things, we won’t be telling you when or where to find these fellas, but we want you to know they exist nonetheless. The rest, as usual, is up to you.

Friend? Foe? Froe? Either way, IS-0128 loves pets and is looking for his forever home. Keep it well fed, and maybe it’ll return the favor. It’s full o’ goo and ready to spew.

A vengeful spirit stalks you, but… The Anteverses are a complex place.
Corn Control Facility
Flathill has seen a couple small additions. Take a visit back there sometime, won’t you? For old times’ sake. … And maybe bring your unsavory corn while you’re at it.
Nyxshade
You need no longer fear the lack of plantability. But your enemies will fear the output of this new plant. This sounded cooler in our heads - anyway, enjoy.
Fish & Foods
Yes, yes, there are several new places (and new types of places) in which to fish, which means more fish, which means more dish…es. Dishes. Fishes and dishes. Enjoy these delicious… foods. This all sort of rhymes and that’s good enough for us, just like most of the strange dishes we cook up.
That Green Armor You Keep Seeing in Videos and Screenshots
There's a handful of new armor you can get your hands on, but this one is definitely here now. For real this time. We mean it. Here's a picture of the armor standing in the woods. There could even be a scientist inside it. That scientist could be you.
Harpoon Spear
Abe told us about a crazy idea he had, so we went and built it. It kinda works, actually. You can snag this around the time you enter Hydroplant, which makes sense, because, well, you know.
”Exor” Weaponry
There are several new weapons (and some say there could even be some armor) that stem from the more savage corners of the Anteverses. Sometimes we must arm ourselves with the tools of the enemy, sometimes we must become the enemy to defend ourselves. Sometimes, we just like spikes on things because it looks kind of cool.
High Explosives
The Order has brought military-grade explosives to the Facility, and you would be a moron to not wield them for yourself. You’re not a moron, are you? … Be careful with that stuff, ya big genius.
Laser Improvements
Many improvements have been made to lasers. More reliability, a little less annoying, diminishing beams as the power decays (previously not visible), and easier recipes.

But is that all we’re doing with Lasers? Oh, please. Have you ever heard of a Laser Grenade? And was it a rechargeable throwable? It was not. But this is.

Another small quality o’ life update: for the most part, any recipe involving Lenses AND another thing that requires lenses no longer requires the Lenses. There were just too many lenses already in the lens-based recipe.
[REDACTION] Grenade
‘Nuff said.
Spawn Inhibitors
Tired of that one little Pest in the corner of your base just out of reach of the Crafting Bench who keeps coming back for MORE BEATDOWNS? Well, tire no longer. Put up the right kind of inhibitor (if it’s available) and keep it powered. That should keep the pesky enemies at bay. There will be a few inhibitors at first, with plans for more later. Let us know how those work out. Dr. Ross worked very hard on getting the frequency juuuuust right.
Treasures for the Taking
If you can locate the key…
Long Jump Pack
There’s a fine line between backpack and jetpack, and this thing not only straddles that line, it can leap over the gap in a single bound, line be damned! Forwards, backwards, sideways, Careful, though. It’s as useful as it is dangerous.
Pocket Dimension Pack
Looking for the biggest backpack you’ve ever seen? Maybe something less jetpack and more backpack? Bigger, backpackier, betterer? This oughta do it. Dr. Thule found a whole dimension you can just stuff your things into and they probably won’t go missing.
Construction Gauntlet
Improve those tinkering fingers with the power of scientific engineering. It’s a glorified screwdriver, really. Some scientists even theorize we’ll get better animations someday. Nice try, Thule. We’ll see about that.
Even More Trinkets
Even more trinkets have been added - some found earlier, some only found in the depths of the Reactors. Can you find them all? And don’t forget about Kylie. You made her a promise, after all.
The Encroachment - Another Anteverse Invades!
As you may have inferred from our pitchfork pickaxe announcement last week, something new can be found squirming its way into the Old Mines. If you are well beyond Mines, venture back. If you are just getting into Manufacturing, venture onwards! Here’s a few hints on how to uncover this location; a peek from Anteverse 299, and one that, we are told, some of you may be familiar with…
