Devlog 2 - Week 7

Week 7 - Coffins, Curses and Cell Shading
[p]This was an extremelly productive week. Should I stop right there ? Should I just take your trust for granted ? Everything is in the title right !?[/p][p]Ok I admit there were struggles. But what's the point of making anything if you don't ever struggle.[/p][h2]Put the body in the coffin[/h2][p]Initially we wanted to be able to open the coffin, drag body in it, en set it in a pose. Well this is pretty expensive to do. So one had to chose to cut the expensise so as team we could meet deadline (1st of april). [/p][p]But you wonder how ? Well gamedev cheat. That is the true story. This mecanic was divided in multiple sub mecanics.[/p][p]Moving the ragdolling body : [/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p][/p][p]A first really nice step but next it needed to be linked to the interaction system of the game. This was not a big challenge and one just recycled the system for dragging the coffin. [/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]Then one had to finally put the body in the coffin. There was a load of fixing the ragdoll and adding effects to make it look better. Now a vfx spawns and the body gets in the coffin and gets smaller and smaller. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][h2]Cell shadding [/h2][p]Cell shadding is loved by a load of poeple. Until unit 6.3 it had to be hand made... but now its just a simple shader template already included in the engine. The total conversion time of all the materials was under 30 min of work. Then as a team we made some adjustment to the shader, and added fog support. [/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]ps : if you are a dev and want a quick tutorial I can definitly make one :) [/p][h2]Car Controls rework[/h2][p]The car controls where rework to add a load of fonctionnalities and make it easier to control. [/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][h2]The curse system [/h2][p]The last core system of tthe game. The more the time goes the more you get cursed. Curse is kind of a curency automatically buying curses (not super powers like in Jujutsu Kaisen). Each curse is significantly impacting : control inversion, endurence deplition, slippery hands, automatic friendly fire, etc... Also curses are limited in time. Finally each days the cursing gets faster, making the game harder and harder.[/p][p]For this system we made some sick full screen shader : [/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p] Ok thanks for reading :)  [/p][p]Week 8 is going to be the final straight line toward the release of the first public playable demo.
