Try out the new Demo for Conan Chop Chop!

The world of Conan is getting a little bigger and… flatter. Almost 3 years ago we teased – by way of an April Fools’ joke – a new adventure for Conan. We want to celebrate everything we love about Conan in a more comedic and light-hearted tone. It’s been a journey, but Conan Chop Chop is almost here.
Conan Chop Chop is a party rogue-lite for 1-4 players full of mayhem, loot, and adventure. In this outrageous take on Conan the Barbarian, you are the muscle-bound hero foolish enough to try and stop the evil wizard Thoth-Amon!

As part of the launch we’ve decided to release a free Demo as part of the Steam Next Fest.

Click here to try the Demo now!

The demo will take you through the first zone in the game, giving you a chance to sample the combat, a small part of the world and some of the basics of each character and their skill trees. We've included a few items and equipment as well, so you can get a feel for how they impact gameplay. Lastly, online co-op has been disabled for the demo but you can always use remote play together.
We hope you enjoy this very different take on Hyboria!

Patch 2.8.1 (21.02.2022)

 • Fixed a stability issue that would cause the Microsoft Store version to crash at launch for some players.
 • Addressed an issue that could cause old mods to crash due to a change in materials.

 • Added new option for Microsoft Store players to run the game without BattlEye.
 • Fixed an issue that could cause character transfers to fail and get characters stuck in limbo.

Trimming official servers

Greetings, Exiles!

Conan Exiles had a year of solid growth in 2021, and with what’s on the horizon we’re very excited about 2022 too! However, before we get to all that exciting new stuff, we have some house cleaning to do.

TLDR: we need to reduce the number of official PC and PlayStation servers.
Server merges list
Scheduled server closures/merges are listed on this page . Servers listed here will have an in-game notification about the closure/merge.
We will update here as we complete the list for each region so please keep an eye on it.
Why?
The goal with the official servers is to provide easy access to exciting gameplay in Conan Exiles through meeting and interacting with other players, whether there is PvP or more friendly encounters. On these servers, travelling across the Exiled Lands or the Isle of Siptah should include encounters with other players and their creations, whether a massive fortress or our beloved default 2x2 hut near the river.

Both with early access in 2017 and when Conan Exiles launched back in 2018 official servers filled to the brim. Then players found their preferred play hours, and server population stabilized at a healthy level. The same happened with Isle of Siptah servers when the expansion launched last year.

But official servers have their limitations. We have more than a thousand of them across the different platforms, regions, modes, and now maps. To keep this manageable we run all of them with default settings. Many players seek a different experience with regards to gathering and XP rates, purges, player limits, et al., and of course – on PC – one or more of the amazing mods the community has created.

Over the years, and even over the few months since Isle of Siptah launched, we have seen a continuous shift toward player-run servers and solo/co-op play. While activity in the game is higher than ever (outside of those crazy release months), several official servers see few players online during any given week.Less than a handful players on a server doesn’t provide the experience they were created for, especially when a server is essentially someone’s solo game. Hence why we will consolidate onto fewer servers.
How does it work?
Perhaps most importantly, we will not just shut off the power to servers and leave it at that. When a server is shut down, we will transfer all characters – active or not – to another server along with everything in their inventory. This transfer is not subject to the “no encumbrance” rule which applies to free transfers. However, transferred characters log in at the starting area so bring something to help you carry!

No constructions will be transferred. We realize this is not optimal. The main concern is that there can be a building in the same spot on the destination server already – especially on the popular PvP server base spots. Another is that this would complicate the database merge operation significantly.

Players on a server which is closing will be notified ahead of time through Message of the Day, and we will also provide a list of servers and dates here as they are decided on.
How many servers?
Having looked at the current player activity trends and making projections for that exciting new stuff to come later this year, we aim to close about one third of official servers.

This is not distributed evenly across platform, region, mode, and map, however. Thanks to the success of Conan Exiles on Game Pass, Xbox servers are well populated, and we will only close a few Xbox servers that were opened in the wrong region last summer. Thus, this almost exclusively affects PC and PlayStation servers.

Exact numbers for each of the combinations of platform, region, mode, and map varies greatly, and will be available once we share the servers and dates.
How are the servers decided?
• Characters from a closed server will be merged to another server in the same location. For example, someone connecting to a server on the US east coast will not have to suddenly connect to one on the west coast.
 • Goal is to impact as few players as possible, so low population throughout January 2022 is the primary factor. Both average and peak population is considered, with most weight on the former.
 • Among low populated servers, we put some weight on the number of structures on the server.
 • Destination servers for the character merge are chosen based on population, with the aim of increasing average population across the board and not creating login queues.
What about the future?
The shift toward private servers and games and a more customized game experiences is expected to continue. But we also expect Conan Exiles to continue to grow. How exactly that will pan out over the next year and beyond is hard to predict.

It’s possible we will do more closures in the future. It’s also entirely possible we will need to open new servers! This we will have to come back to sometime after that exciting stuff we can’t say more about just yet.

Valentine’s Day Card Contest: Crush on your Enemies

Nothing goes more hand in hand than love and blood in the Exiled Lands. Want to impress your crush in the hut next door? Gift them the fresh heart of beast. Date night? Start a brawl with the local Black Hand pirates. After all, a couple that slays together stays together.

In this contest, we want to see your confession of love whether it’s as fresh as new kindling or a smoldering pit of Yog. Create a card to whomever (or whatever) your heart desires and send it to us to review it. It’s okay, they don’t have to know. ;)

We want you to create a card confessing your love to someone in the Exiled Lands/Isle of Siptah. This someone can be anyone you want: an NPC, another Exile, a character from roleplaying, the God/Goddess you worship, whatever you'd like. As long as the character exists in the Conan Exiles world and not, like, the steamy muscular people in The Avengers or Star Wars or whatever. You get the idea.

The card you make can be digital or physical and will be judged on creativity of the card and text in it.

For a digital card, you can use whatever software you'd like (Photoshop, Illustrator, MS Paint, etc).

For a physical card, you can use whatever material you like and send us pictures or a video of the card.

All entries must be submitted by 11:59 pm EST on February 21st 2022. We will not accept any entries after this date. Winners will be announced on February 25th 2022 at 1pm EDT/8pm CEST. Entries must be submitted through this email address: [email protected]

Cards will be judged separately based on digital or physical. You can only enter one card, so be sure to specify in your email which media (physical or digital) you are entering. You can select any DLCs as a prize currently available for purchase by Funcom (excluding bundles). The keys are given out in even numbers, so you can share the love if you win! Or keep them all to yourself, nothing wrong with some selflove

 • You can send in as many pictures or videos as you wish. You can use Imgur or another (safe) site to upload images or videos if that’s easier. Just be sure we can access it!

 • All entries must adhere to the Conan Exiles Code of Conduct. Just keep in mind the winners will be shown on social media...so, rein it in a bit.

 • If your card is not in English, make sure there's a translation in the email.

Conan Exiles 2021 Year in Review: Producer's Letter

Greetings Exiles,

2021 has been an incredibly exciting and challenging year for us here on the Conan Exiles team. We started off the year preparing for the final release of our first expansion map, Isle of Siptah. The team was able to improve the Siptah map with your feedback during Early Access by adding NPC camps, Points of Interest, and activities. The team also added two amazing biomes in preparation for the final release on all platforms. We really enjoyed working on Siptah, despite the challenges that working from home during the pandemic presented.

Ultimately, we feel the final result is something we can be proud of, and your feedback and support made this journey feel all the more rewarding. The official launch on all platforms was met with an overwhelming amount of support from you all, as we achieved the highest concurrent player count since the game’s release. The launch campaigns we ran along with Siptah, such as the Twitch Drops and the Community Challenge, were also incredibly well received, paving the way for other possible future promotions.

In 2021 we also hit two important milestones as we released on two additional storefronts. First, on the Microsoft Store as part of the PC and Xbox Gamepass subscription. Getting to this point took a colossal amount of work from our teams, to who I want to wholeheartedly thank for their efforts, as well as to the Microsoft and Xbox teams who made this possible. We also drastically improved performance of the Xbox One client and received the Optimized for Series X|S badge resulting in Conan Exiles looking better than ever on consoles! Later in the year we released on the Epic Game Store and were able to bring Conan Exiles to another audience with full cross platform support for all PC stores. Once again, this was made possible thanks to the support of our friends at Epic Games.

With an eye on the future, we’ve also spent a good portion of the year planning and figuring out the best way to support our game for the long run. We are committed to Conan Exiles, it’s one of the greatest successes we have had at Funcom and we want it to become the best it can be. For that purpose, we have been growing our staff over the year and created a new Live team that is dedicated to the maintenance, support, and daily operations of the game. Thanks to this, we’ve been able to focus on addressing your feedback regarding critical bugs and Quality of Life additions that had been not possible in the past. We have also dedicated a team to provide support to our amazing modders, creating direct lines of communication with them so we can keep improving the devkit to better suit our community of creators. And this is just the beginning. We are committed to keep growing and adapting to support Conan Exiles on what will be one of its most exciting years.

I can’t wait to spill the beans on what is coming in the future, but for now let’s celebrate this past year with some facts and statistics about last year for Conan Exiles: We can confidently say that 2020 and 2021 were the most successful years for Exiles based on player counts and player activity. The development and launch of Isle of Siptah revitalized interest for veterans, and also gathered the attention of new players. And it didn’t stop there! The last quarter of 2021 also showed a surge in activity thanks in great part to the release of our in-game event “Grave Matters”. We’ve been keeping close attention to its reception and what you had to say about it. Thanks in great part to all your positive feedback, we’re planning for more events in the future so keep an eye out!

Another front we have seen positive growth with the game has been with streaming. Thanks to the new content added to the game and our campaigns, especially the Twitch Drops campaign, we’ve seen the viewership numbers hit an all-time high, even surpassing early access and the official launch period! We’re happy to say that we’ve improved our active player base and presence on streaming platforms and 2021 has been our strongest year to date. It’s been a year of experimentation on our end and we’re incredibly thankful to all of you for rewarding us back with your support which we are using to shape our plans to make 2022 even better!

As a final note, we have been celebrating the past year with a series of videos covering the new features and content added to the game, a showcase of a selection of our content creators -both veterans and newcomers alike- and a shoutout to some of the player-made mods that made an impact for our community in 2021. Make sure to give them a watch! And if you like numbers, we also published a series of infographics about statistics collected during Isle of Siptah’s launch week. You barbarians.

Thank you all for being part of our community and for having made 2021 one of the best years in Conan Exiles’ life. Here’s to 2022 and beyond!
