Battle Path Bounty Hunt: Object 195

Commanders!

We’d like to invite you to another round of the Bounty Hunt event, in which you will have the opportunity to hunt down some Armored Warfare members of staff or VIPs and destroy them in battle for amazing prizes! This time, we’ll be focusing on some Battle Path content and prizes.

On Thursday, February 18, 2021, between 18:30 and 19:30 CET, log in to Armored Warfare and play Tier 10 PvP.

We, the staff-members and moderators, will be joining the battles in our Object 195 Battle Path reward vehicles and if you manage to destroy one of us, you will be awarded with 2.500 Battle Coins and a 14 day temporary version of the Object 195 Tier 10 Premium MBT.

The following staff and VIP’s will take part in the event:
  • MaciekM4a4
  • M3pit
  • waidler
  • Eisenherz
  • Eskobar68
  • Silentstalker
  • Tenam
  • ThePsychocat
  • PanzerMarmelade
  • WODZU123098
  • ONEMANCLAN
  • Dayan78
  • Max_Insanity
  • Noobdown
  • Sorenou
  • pwnzPWNZ

They will also identify themselves at the beginning of each battle by a chat message.

The rules of the contest are very simple:
  • Team-Killing will not win you a prize, unless you count a ban and contest disqualification
  • You don’t need to make a note of who you destroyed (although it doesn’t hurt); we’ll keep track
  • You can win as many times as you want, they are no limits per player
  • The temporary Object 195 will only be awarded for your first kill, any further kills will be awarded by Battle Coins only
  • Rewards will be distributed after the end of the event
We look forward to seeing you on the battlefield!

Developer Q&A: February 17, 2021

Commanders!

Once again, we collected your questions and passed them directly to the team.

Here are the responses directly from the developers of Armored Warfare:

When can we expect new Contract Missions and a new prize?

Roughly mid-March.

Last time, you mentioned you’d take a look at the side ERA of the Armata platform. Any decisions yet?

Yes. We’ll add it. Not in the next update, but relatively soon.

Tell us more about daily PvE map rotation. Why is it even there and why can’t we see the available daily maps in the game?

Explaining the history of this system would make a very long answer. Long story short, it’s sort of a legacy system that made sense when it was first implemented for a number of reasons, most of which no longer apply. With that being said, we are planning to overhaul this system as a whole since we’ve noticed an increase in negative feedback regarding this aspect of the game.

When you get spotted, sometimes the spotting indicator, which usually appears as a yellow eye, turns grey. Sometimes it appears grey in the first place. Can you explain its role and mechanics?

Each vehicle has a parameter called “spotting_persistance”. This parameter defines whether the vehicle is shown to the enemy team despite not being directly spotted. Basically, think of it as “we remember the target’s still there, but we can no longer see it.”

As for the indicator itself, whenever the yellow eye icon appears, it means that you are spotted and the enemy team can see you. When the eye is grey, it means that you were spotted before, but you are about to disappear to the enemy (the spotting_persistence period). This period between no longer being directly spotted and disappearing entirely currently is 5 seconds.

There are two specific situations where things aren’t this simple. First, the yellow eye appears (at least in PvP) with a noticeable delay (unless you have specific modules installed). That means that you get spotted and, after a short while, the yellow eye icon appears. But if, during this delay period, you actually hide again (for example, while peeking out from cover and immediately returning), the eye indicator will appear grey because you hid quickly enough. The second situation that warrants attention is the use of smoke grenades. Smoke grenades do not trigger spotting_persistence. They simply make your vehicle disappear instantly.

The Sniper type Mechanized Infantry is overpowered!

We are planning to review it.

Will you add a machinegun to the Shadow to fight enemy infantry?

Yes, in the future.

What’s the intended Light Tank role on the battlefield?

The LTs are, first and foremost, the primary killers of enemy light vehicles (AFVs, TDs). That’s why they generally have high spotting range, decent camouflage, high mobility and high damage output. They are also intended as spotters and flankers – the latter means they are able to sneak past the front-line MBTs and wreak havoc behind enemy lines.

In real life, the Kurganets prototype has an adjustable hydraulic suspension. In the game, it does not have one. Are you planning to add it?

Not at the moment. The vehicle performs well even without it.

Why aren’t you addressing game bugs during these sessions?

That’s not what this article is for. We are of course collecting your bug reports and are fixing the bugs as soon as possible. But in this format, we’d prefer to tell you more about our vision for the game and answer game design questions.

Will the popular Battle Path feature "Shop" return in the future Battle Paths?

Yes

Will the Spirithaven Special Operation appear soon in the weekend War Games rotation?

Yes

That’s it for today, commanders. Do you have any questions for the developers? Don’t hesitate to leave them on Discord and, as always:

See you on the battlefield!

Msta-S Damage Contest

Commanders!

The Echoes of War campaign is now available and we have prepared another way of obtaining a large number of bonus Battle Coins for you!

In this contest, we’ll be asking you to deal as much damage as possible while driving the Msta-S Tier 9 Premium SPG.

Any standard mode counts for this contest, excluding Heroic Special Operations, War Games and Ranked Battles.

Post the screenshot of your result (both the detailed and regular tab) in the dedicated contest channel along with your name, category and result number. We also reserve the right to ask for a replay, so make sure you record your battle. The submission template is as such:
  • Result / Ingame nickname
Attention – as we will be using a program to collect your results, please make absolutely sure you submit them with the template above. Submissions without this template will be ignored.

As an example, “50000 / Johndoe” is correct, while “50 000/Johndoe” is not due to the incorrectly placed spaces.

The contest ends on February 21, 2021 (15:00 CET) and all entries must be submitted by then.

The prizes are as follows:

The winner will receive 10.000 Battle Coins for the Echoes of War Battle Path, 2.500 Gold as well as the rare Torii camouflage.

Please note:
  • One player can only submit one result, period
  • All submitted results must be from the battles that take place during the event
  • Platoons are not allowed
  • The winners will be announced and the prizes will be distributed after the end of the event
Good luck and see you on the battlefield!

In Development: Mastery Flags

Commanders!

As the final Update 0.34 feature, we’ve prepared a new way you can show of your skill on particular vehicles – the epic Mastery Flags!

Right off the bat, no, these are not the same flags as the paid visual customization option. All you need to get these is skill – that’s the good news. The bad news is, you’re going to need a lot of it.

The core of the mechanic is very simple – if you perform very well in a match, your vehicle will become adorned with a special triangle-shaped Mastery Flag. This flag needs to be earned for each vehicle separately and what you need to do to get it is to earn two or more Epic Medals (also sometimes referred to as Special Medals) in a single match. There will be three stages of these flags available:
  • For earning two Epic Medals in a single match, you will receive a green flag with one star
  • For earning three Epic Medals in a single match, you will receive a blue flag with two stars
  • For earning four or more Epic Medals in a single match, you will receive a red flag with three stars

But that’s not all. The flag will also appear on other places to make sure your teammates (and opponents) don’t miss it, such as:
  • In the Match Hero result window
  • Behind your vehicle’s name on your opponent’s death screen when you kill him
  • In your Dossier (vehicle statistics)

The following Epic Medals will count when it comes to earning your Mastery flags:
  • Steel Sword
  • Bronze Sword
  • Golden Sword
  • Iron Dragon
  • Steel Eagle
  • Scout's Crest
  • Order of Resistance
  • Iron Hawk
  • Order of Courage
  • Order of Valor
  • Order of the Captor

The following Epic Medals will, on the other hand, not count towards earning your Mastery flags:
  • Steel Wings (requiring nobody on your team to die)
  • Hero's Crest (requiring you to ram enemy vehicles)

Like we mentioned before, you do not need to have the Banner visual customization enabled to use these flags. They will simply appear on your vehicle as soon as the conditions are met. However, if your vehicle is already fitted with a flag, the Mastery Flags will appear below them.

Please note:
  • It will not be possible to obtain a Mastery Flag on Tier 1 to 3 vehicles
  • For now, this is a PvP feature (PvE-centric Epic Medals are currently not available)

We hope that you’ll enjoy this new challenge and, as always:

See you on the battlefield!

Historical Skins – T-72B Defender

Commanders!

In addition to the Soviet forest camouflage, a title and a new base paint, we’ve prepared one more item for this year’s upcoming Defender of the Fatherland celebrations – the Defender skin for the T-72B Main Battle Tank.

Despite the skin’s name, which is more related to the event than the actual vehicle, this skin is in fact based on an existing Main Battle Tank. The history behind it is pretty murky though. It apparently took part in the 2015 Battle of Dolbatseve between the Ukrainian Army and various separatist forces. The battle, which took place between January 14 and February 20, 2015, resulted in a major defeat of the Ukrainian military and was one of the more important milestones on the road to the current frozen conflict status quo.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

The T-72B tank in question was painted with a basic khaki color, but bore no official military markings. The base color was covered by splashed of brushed white paint, covering much of the vehicle. The tank is also fitted with a commander’s cupola shield, which we have also added to the model.

The tank was an earlier T-72B variant with Kontakt-1 armor (as the ERA layout suggests), which is a strange vehicle to be seen in the hands of the separatists, because Ukraine does not operate this model – Ukrainian T-72s are mostly T-72A’s with roughly one third of them fitted with the same ERA (T-72AV).

How it got there and who’s manning it is anyone’s guess – various Ukrainian sources stated that the tank belonged to the infamous Vagner PMC, a mercenary unit with strong ties to the Russian government. The Vagner PMC consists mostly of Russian military veterans and is sent all across the world to the places Russia doesn’t want to be directly connected with. Its troops were spotted in Syria and are currently rumored to be operating in Libya in support of Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan National Army.

Regardless of the tank’s origin, we believe it will make for a great-looking skin, especially for various winter maps. We hope that you will enjoy this skin as much as we enjoyed creating it for you and, as always:

See you on the battlefield!
