Tales from the Dark Battle Path: Prize Highlights

Commanders!

The Tales from the Dark Battle Path is launching in July and we’ve prepared a prize overview for you. As you already know, the Battle Path is Slavic-themed with ancient legends being the topic of the prizes. However, we do recognize that there are players who are more into contemporary stuff such as various real-life camouflages. So, we thought... why not have both?

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

As a result, the Battle Path prizes will consist of two distinct parts – the Legendary and the Realistic rewards are both waiting for you. Let’s start with the legendary ones.
Legendary Prizes
Have you heard the tale of Koschei the Deathless? He’s one of the most important villains in ancient Russian lore. He is a warlock of terrifying power, often living in a dark castle where he is guarding his treasures. His title “the Deathless” (also available in the Battle Path) comes from the fact he managed to store away his life essence.

The essence is hidden in a needle that needs to be broken for him to be killed. But he hid the essence in a needle, which is hidden in an egg, which is hidden in a duck and the duck is hidden in a chest bound to an oak tree with chains.

Our Koschei skin for Armata 152 represents the version of the Koschei tale adapted to fit our tanks. Koschei’s spirit haunts this vehicle and the life essence part of his story is represented by the flying needle (that acts as a machinegun in the game). The skin has several visual effects befitting the position of a primary villain of Russian tales.

Speaking of villains, the Zmey Gorynych skin will also fit your Kornet-D1 nicely. The skin is based on the tale of an evil dragon, another common opponent to Russian bogatyrs. It combines fantastical (dragon scale cloak in the back) and realistic (vehicle camouflage) elements.

We also have interesting camouflages for you, based on other mythological monsters such as Vodyanoy, Stryga, Leshy or Shapeshifter.

These camouflages change their colors based on the base paint you select.

And, correspondingly, we’ll have a number of new base paints for you as well. Examples include:

The decals are also based on an art style seen in ancient Slavic tales. Some are naturally modified to fit the contemporary design and we hope you’ll like these too.
Realistic Prizes
Some players like realistic prizes more and we totally get that. That is why, aside from the above, we’ve prepared some more contemporary customization options for you as well. Let’s start with the Nakidka skin for T-14 Armata based on a design seen during the Army 2023 expo in Moscow.

The skin covers your Armata in the Nakidka camouflage.

Another interesting skin will be the Rusalka for T-62M.

While the name comes from a mythological creature (a water spirit from Slavic mythology), the paintjob and insignia are based on a real-life vehicle deployed in Afghanistan by the 24th Guards Tank Regiment.

And, last but not least, there’s the Military Police skin for Kornet-EM based on a military police Tigr vehicle deployed in Syria. The interesting part about this skin is the police lights that start working when you activate your headlights.

We also have some realistic camouflages for you such as the widely-used contemporary Russian camouflage, an attractive desert camouflage used in Syria or a brand-new arctic camouflage as seen during the Army 2021 expo.

There are many more prizes waiting for you, the chief amongst them being three new vehicles:

- BTR-82A Tier 8 Premium AFV
- BMP-2M Tier 9 Premium AFV
- T-90M Proryv Tier 10 Premium MBT

Avatars, player titles, loot crates, platinum boosters... all that is present in the regular 50-level progression of this four-month Battle Path (you read it right, we’ll be extending the duration to four months again based on popular demand)

And that’s STILL not all. As we announced before, we’ll be scaling up the Battle Coin income by introducing:

- More free boosters (yes, they are returning to regular levels)
- More Battle Coin bonus income events
- Free and easy to complete bonus events awarding extra Battle Coins

As such, the Battle Path will be easier to complete than the previous one. We hope that you’ll enjoy this Battle Path and, as always:

See you on the battlefield!
INDEPENDENCE DAY MISSION
And last but definitely not least, we have prepared a special mission for you where you can earn a new camouflage and more.

Between July 4 and July 24, 2024:

 • Win 14 matches of any type using the Bradley FV Tier 8 AFV to receive the U.S. (Gulf War) camouflage
 • Win 14 matches of any type using M60A3 (or its premium variant) to receive the U.S. CARC base paint
 • Win 10 matches using either the M1A1 Abrams or the M1A1 Storm to receive four U.S. military decals

All these assets are based on the Gulf War. The camouflage was seen on Bradley IFVs belonging to the 2nd Squadron, 4th Cavalry (24th Infantry Division).

This unit decided to go against the regulations and used a rather unique camouflage pattern during the conflict. It consisted of sand background and large brown stripes with black edges, somewhat reminiscent of the British camouflage used at El Alamein.

A number of these vehicles were photographed on December 19, 1990, during a training exercise.

The base paint is based on a standard Desert Storm sand color – with a little twist. A lot of the vehicles used during the operation were painted in standard European colors and had to be repainted quickly. There was a lot of chaos in the process as hundreds of inexperienced troops had to repaint armor as fast as possible, which for example led to many cases of soldiers painting over expensive optics (rendering them unusable).

In another case from the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, issues with proper color mixing gave the paint an incorrect shade and a number of vehicles painted that way basically turned out somewhat pink. This base paint attempts to recreate the color from the incident.

And last but not least, we have tactical unit insignia for you, with the following meaning:

 • Company A (Chevron aiming forward)
 • Company B (Chevron aiming down)

Both are available in black and white color.

Please note:

 • The prizes will be handed out after the end of the event
 • The mission begins on July 4 at 00:01 CEST and ends on July 24 at 22:59 CEST

We hope you’ll enjoy the event and, as always:

See you on the battlefield!
M8 Ridgway Skin
This skin for the M8-120 Thunderbolt II Tier 9 Light Tank is based on our idea of what would the M8 have looked like, had it been a part of Operation Just cause, the American invasion of Panama. Its look is based off an existing M551 Sheridan “Airborne Thunder”, which participated in the said operation. You can read more in our dedicated article.

The skin is available as a part of the Ridgway Bundle, which contains the following items:

 • Ridgway skin for M8-120 Thunderbolt II
 • Field Drab base paint (learn more)
 • 7 Platinum Loot Crates
 • 1.500 Gold

This bundle is available in our Web Shop.
Warhammer Skin for M1A2
This skin for the M1A2 Tier 8 progression Main Battle Tank is based on the real American Abrams tanks, which were seen and photographed during the Iraq War. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.

This skin is available in a bundle along with the following items:

 • Iraq War ochre base paint (used by the U.S. Army)
 • U.S. Cavalry decal
 • U.S. Company decal
 • Thunderbolt decal (this historical decal appeared on a real early Abrams in honor of General Creighton Abrams’ personal Sherman tank during the Second World War)

Please note that the bundle includes the skin but not the M1A2 MBT itself. This tank needs to be obtained via progression directly in the game.

This bundle is available in our Web Shop.
AbramsX
AbramsX is an advanced technology demonstrator. It was built as a private venture by General Dynamics Land Systems and unveiled in 2022 to show what the future of the Abrams MBT could look like. It is considerably lighter than a fully upgraded Abrams while retaining its protection levels and firepower thanks to its cutting edge systems. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the AbramsX is a Tier 10 Premium Main Battle Tank. While still maintaining the basic Abrams line features such as a 120mm gun, it is considerably lighter and less armored. On the other hand it is also faster, more agile, stealthier, and features a 30mm autocannon that can reduce most light vehicles to a pile of scrap in seconds thanks to its new ammunition. As a result, this tank can dish out a lot of damage but requires careful and skilled gameplay.

The AbramsX Tier 10 Premium MBT is available in our Web Shop via Loot Crates. Collect 100 blueprint pieces from these crates to obtain the vehicle.
Griffin 120mm
The Armored Warfare version of the Griffin Light Tank is based on an early 2016 tech demonstrator, intended to show the U.S. military during the AUSA 2016 conference that General Dynamics meant business. It was built as a private venture; effectively a scaled-up example of General Dynamics was capable of providing when it came to highly mobile vehicles with a lot of firepower for the U.S. airborne forces. The U.S. Army was impressed and the design has since evolved into what is generally referred to as the MPF Light Tank. You can read more about this vehicle in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the Griffin 120mm is a Tier 8 Premium Light Tank and a powerful, fast machine, armed not only with its 120mm cannon, but also with special ammunition types, making it deadly at any distance. Few Tier 9 vehicles can match its sheer ferocity on the battlefield.

This bundle is available in our Web Shop.
Bradley AAWHS
The Bradley AAWS-H Tank Destroyer was an attempt by Loral Vought to mount four kinetic guided missiles on an extendable arm while using the Bradley IFV chassis as a platform. Kinetic missiles were cutting edge tech back in the 1980s – unlike standard ATGMs, they destroyed the target by their kinetic energy instead of a HEAT warhead, accelerating to several times the speed of sound. There was little to no defense against them, although they did have some drawbacks, which was why they were never adopted in real life. You can read more about the vehicle in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the Bradley AAWS-H is a Tier 8 Premium Tank Destroyer. It’s an ATGM-based TD, carrying special kinetic missiles that actually become more effective with increasing distance to your target. It is the embodiment of a long-range missile carrier and is perfect for players who prefer sniping to close combat.

This bundle is available in our Web Shop.
Stryker ADATS
ADATS stands for “Air Defense Anti-Tank System,” describing its purpose very well. The system is intended to engage both air and ground armored targets. It was developed in the 1980s by a Swiss company called Oerlikon-Contraves and was offered as an interesting hybrid that would be able to deal with both Soviet tanks and helicopters or attack planes. Unfortunately for it, it came too late – only Canada would actually accept it in service and the end of the Cold War meant the end to all attempts at its large-scale introduction. The ADATS missiles were quite large but, more importantly, extremely fast and were certain to be extremely destructive to any Soviet armored targets, even though this thankfully never had to be tested in real combat. The ADATS turret was offered for a wide variety of platforms and was actively installed on a vehicle that is kind of like a cousin to the Stryker, the Canadian LAV-III. In this configuration, the vehicle was called MMEV.

In Armored Warfare, Stryker ADATS is a Tier 9 Premium Tank Destroyer. It is a wheeled vehicle armed with two weapon systems – powerful long-range guided missiles and short-range unguided rockets, offering it some survivability in short range combat as well as the ability to deal tremendous damage if left to its devices.

This bundle is available in our Web Shop.
M1A1 Storm with Desert Storm bundle
In 1985, the Abrams was upgraded with, amongst other things, the 120mm M256 smoothbore cannon. Over 5000 M1A1 tanks were produced until 1992. This tank participated in Operation Desert Storm, which forged its legendary reputation.

In Armored Warfare, the M1A1 Storm is a Tier 7 Premium Main Battle Tank. The M1A1 Storm look was inspired by Operation Desert Storm, including a gorgeous camouflage net model. But, more importantly, this tank is equipped with a massive frontal dozer blade, adding extra armor and ramming damage to the long list of its advantages.

This vehicle is also available in the Desert Storm Bundle. As its name suggests, the bundle contains several Operation Desert Storm and War in Iraq-related items, including:

 • M1A1 Storm Tier 7 Premium MBT
 • Warhammer skin for the M1A2 Tier 8 MBT
 • Iraq War ochre base paint (used by the U.S. Army)
 • American Red Desert MERDC camouflage
 • American Grey Desert MERDC camouflage
 • U.S. Flag decal
 • U.S. Flag banner

This bundle is available in our Web Shop.

We hope that you will enjoy this offer and, as usual:

See you on the battlefield!

Developer Diary: Russian Vehicle Changes 2.0

Commanders!

Based on the feedback received on the previous article, we have decided to update the upcoming Russian vehicle changes as such:

 • Kornet-D1 will not get the quad missile launcher previously announced
 • We’re leaving the weaker thermobaric ATGM available to the ATGM Targeting System configuration
 • Both configurations will get partial missile launcher reload
 • The vehicle will receive the adjustable suspension ability

We feel that these changes will make the vehicle more viable despite the hardcore punch the four Kornet missiles launched at the same time would have provided.

As for the rest of the changes, they are still awaiting additional testing. We are trying to make this into an iterative process with more attention being paid to player feedback.

We’ll get back to you with more information soon.

See you on the battlefield!

Wishlist Games CEO: Q&A

Commanders!

As you know from our previous communication, Armored Warfare is under new management and is working towards an independent platform to operate on. With it comes a new policy where we’ll try to be as transparent as possible. In the spirit of this promise, we’d like to give you, the players, the give opportunity to send your questions not to a community manager or a producer, but to the CEO of Wishlist Games himself, Alexey Larionov.

He’s a long-term Armored Warfare veteran who had been there from the beginning working with Obsidian Entertainment and therefore has plenty of experience with Armored Warfare.

However, since there are so many of you, we’ll be collecting your questions first and then providing answers in a separate post. We’d like, however, to set a few rules first:

- Please, don’t post insults – such questions will be ignored as there’s no need to be uncivilized regardless of your opinion of us or the product
- Please, also post one question per user (you may in fact ask multiple, but we do reserve the right to give other players a chance to ask theirs first)

He will try to answer as many questions as possible. With that being said, click on the button below and post yours!

And, as always:

See you on the battlefield!
