Between April 6 and April 13, 2023, the following items will be available:
Stridsvagn 2000
The Stridsvagn 2000 was to be Sweden’s next Main Battle Tank, designed to combat Soviet super-tanks such as the Black Eagle. For its time, the project was nothing short of revolutionary with extremely thick frontal armor and a powerful 140mm gun that could take on literally anything in its day. However, the Soviet threat dissipated with the collapse of the Soviet Union, which pushed Sweden to seek a cheaper solution to its tank problem, namely the Leopard 2 MBT. You can learn more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the Stridsvagn 2000 is a Tier 10 Premium Main Battle Tank that represents the essence of practicality. Solid armor, decent mobility and excellent damage over time output make this tank one of the most versatile tools you can have in your arsenal, equally capable in PvP and PvE. Aside from its advanced NERA armor, the Strv 2000 features a coaxial 40mm autocannon. The key to success is switching between both weapon systems and maximizing your damage output while your NERA armor eliminated one enemy shell after another.

The Stridsvagn 2000 MBT is available in our Web Shop via Loot Crates. Collect 100 blueprint pieces from these crates to obtain the vehicle.
CV90120 Ghost
The CV90120 “Ghost” Light Tank was a Swedish demonstrator based on an earlier fire support model of the CV90120. As its name suggests, the vehicle is armed with 120mm smoothbore cannon but that’s the least interesting on its features. The Ghost is named after a special camouflage system called ADAPTIV that's capable of masking the bulky tank in the IR spectrum so well it disappears from enemy screens – like a ghost. You can learn more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the CV90120 Ghost is a Tier 9 Premium Light Tank. Depending on your choices, it can be configured two ways – as a fast hit-and-run Light Tank using the combination of a Ready Rack and its excellent mobility, or as a stealthy sniper using the ADAPTIV system and the upgraded ammunition. While you won’t be as stealthy as dedicated Tank Destroyers or small AFVs, you’ll still be able to do a lot of damage from behind the safety of your lines.
CV90 Mk.IV
The Swedish CV90 Mk.IV IFV is the most modern version of the old but constantly developed CV90 platform. Since its introduction in the early 1990s, the vehicle was upgraded so much that this 2018 model bears little resemblance to the three decades old original, featuring cutting edge electronics as well as a brand new turret. You can learn more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the CV90 Mk.IV is a Tier 8 Premium Armored Fighting Vehicle. It is a durable and reliable infantry carrier capable not only of dealing tremendous damage with its 50mm autocannon, but of launching powerful Spike missiles as well. In addition to that, it’s relatively well-protected and can also carry Mechanized Infantry. What’s there not to like?
CV90105 TML
The CV90105 TML from the 1990s was one of the first attempts to convert the CV90 chassis into a fire support vehicle by combining it with a French TML turret. The result was a fairly capable Light Tank with considerable firepower in the form of its 105mm GIAT gun that could successfully take out most MBTs of its time. Unfortunately, the vehicle didn’t manage to attract any customers and remained a prototype only. You can learn more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the CV90105 TML is a Tier 7 Premium Light Tank. Depending on your choices, it can be configured two ways. You can opt for a more sustained firepower with the large 12-round clip – this way you need to stay behind your own team or hide in bushes, turning your Light Tank into something like a close support Tank Destroyer. Or, you can opt for the fun option of turning your CV90105 TML into a hit and run monster. Ambush an enemy, empty the magazine into his sides or rear and immediately retreat.
Finnish Bundle
Finland has a long and interesting history of unique relationships with its neighbors, especially with Russia. Its position of neutrality after the Second World War allowed it to buy the best from both worlds with both eastern and western vehicles used by its powerful military. This bundle includes a Finnish camouflage that will look great on your BMP-2s, T-72M1s and Leopards, a Finnish Armed Forces roundel decal as well as two player titles.
Norwegian Bundle
Unlike Sweden, Norway is a part of the NATO with its units regularly taking part in operations abroad. One of the elite units of the Norwegian military is the famous Telemark Battalion of Mechanized Infantry and this bundle includes two items tied to it as well as the Scandinavian camouflages used by Norway and a Norwegian base paint, as seen on a Telemark Leopard deployed to Estonia in 2017.

The bundle consists of:
 • Scandinavian Summer camouflage (read more)
 • Scandinavian Winter camouflage (read more)
 • Scandinavian base paint (read more)
 • Telemark Battalion decal

And last but definitely not least, we have Denmark, the army equipped with some of the best military hardware there is, including the Leopard 2A7DK Main Battle Tank. Aside from its simple but unique camouflage, this bundle contains a Danish player title, the Scandinavian base paint and a decal.

The bundle consists of:
 • Danish camouflage (read more)
 • Scandinavian base paint (read more)

Event: Samuel Thorpe’s Training Session

Commanders!

If you’re following Armored Warfare news, you’re familiar already with the name Samuel Thorpe – the hero of the Eclipse Battle Path and the writer of a diary that forms the backbone of the story. He’s also a tank commander in our game with a rather bland set of skills, as befits his “rookie mercenary” status at the beginning of the story.

In our earlier post, we announced that not only you would have the opportunity to obtain him during this Battle Path – you’d also be able to influence this commander’s skill. The task is simple – to find out what do most of you want from your commander. Here’s how you can make the decision.

Between April 6 (00:01 CEST) and April 25 (22:59 CEST), 2023 (20 days), play as many matches as you can or want to with the vehicles mentioned below.

At the end of the event, we’ll compare the statistics of the vehicles for the duration of this event to a similar period of time before the event to see which vehicle group saw the highest increase. The group with the highest increase will be selected as a “winner” with the following results:
 • Tier 9 and 10 MBTs: Samuel Thorpe will become a MBT commander with a defensive skillset
 • Tier 9 and 10 TDs (excluding T-15 Armata, T-15 Kinzhal, Otomatic and TOS-1M) : Samuel Thorpe will become a stealth, sniping and ATGM-focused commander
 • Tier 9 and 10 AFVs (excluding EBRC Jaguar): Samuel Thorpe will become an “autocannon” based commander with additional Mechanized Infantry skills
 • Tier 9 and 10 SPGs: Samuel Thorpe will become a “big bang” commander with skills boosting HESH shells, Thermobarics, HE shells, blast waves and the like
 • Tier 9 and 10 LTs: Samuel Thorpe will become a “fast attack” commander with his focus on speed, agility and damage output per minute
Enticing? We hope so. But it wouldn’t be an event without good prizes. In this case:
 • Top 5 players by PvP (Random Battles) winrate will receive free Eclipse Battle Path access (or its full price in Gold if they bought it already) along with 50.000 Battle Coins
 • Top 5 players by PvE (Missions and Special Operations) battles played will receive free Eclipse Battle Path access (or its full price in Gold if they bought it already) along with 50.000 Battle Coins
 • Random 10 participants will receive free Eclipse Battle Path access (or its full price in Gold if they bought it already) along with 50.000 Battle Coins

To become eligible for a prize, you must play at least 80 matches during the event period with the abovementioned vehicles.

Please note:
 • The event's official start is April 6, 00:01 CEST (01:01 MSK)
 • The event's official end is April 25, 22:59 CEST (23:59 MSK)
 • You need to play at least 80 battles to become eligible for any prizes
 • Skins and reskins (vehicles with hard-coded skins) do count (for example, Centauro 120 Wolf counts as a Centauro 120)
 • Hades vehicles do count
 • The following vehicles do not count: T-15 Armata, T-15 Kinzhal, Otomatic, TOS-1M and EBRC Jaguar
 • Inactivity will bring you only punishment and you may also be subject to additional penalties
 • Tracking your progress is very easy, simply compare the amount of played matches before and after the event

We hope you’ll enjoy the event and, as always:

See you on the battlefield!

Developer Diary: Playing the Buratino

Commanders!

As you already know, the TOS-1M Buratino is the main prize of the upcoming Eclipse Battle Path. Since this vehicle is unlike anything we’ve released so far, we’d like to tell you (and more importantly, show you) more about it and the way it will play in Armored Warfare.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

The basic 122mm configuration is fairly straightforward. You have 80 direct-firing HEAT rockets, you press the firing button, things start exploding. Easy as. The trick here is to close the distance between you and the target quickly or, alternatively, wait in ambush somewhere you know the enemy has to pass through. The rockets are very inaccurate (this is very much a “whomever it may concern” type of weapon) and given your lack of armor, you will not survive exchanges at longer distances.

Another obstacle you’ll have to overcome is the poor depression of the launcher (and the autocannon that is tied with it). Firing from a hulldown position at vehicles below will therefore be very difficult – a typical situation where the TOS will do truly poorly is on top of a Frontline map ridge. Not only are the engagement distances quite long there, but you’ll be also firing below you, leaving you exposed for a long time – which is not a good idea, it’s a rocket launcher – it is not stealthy.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

The upgraded 220mm configuration faces similar issues but the dynamic here is a bit different. Instead of a rather forgiving rocket salvo, you deal a lot of damage with a single missile. This missile can be absolutely devastating and can single-shot a lighter Tier 10 vehicle and seriously damage an MBT. However, it is also very slow, somewhat inaccurate and difficult to aim. In other words, you need to maximize the chance of hitting your target. For that, you need to master your autocannon.

At first glance, the autocannon (which can now fire both AP and HE shells) is a secondary, “fallback” weapon. It also uses the same sights as the rocket launcher so it is difficult to aim. Additionally, you cannot switch to the first person mode (sniper mode) while using it. You can, however, use it at shorter to medium distances as such:
 • Switch to the autocannon
 • Destroy the tracks of an enemy vehicle
 • Switch back to the rocket launcher and fire at the immobilized target

With these rockets, you have one more advantage. They fly in rather high arcs, which means that, positioned properly, you absolutely can fire over obstacles (where the enemies can’t easily fire back at you). This tactic requires good map knowledge but can pay off, especially if you can target an objective area where you know the enemy has to go. On the downside, you cannot use your autocannon to immobilize them this way.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

As for the thermobaric rockets that are the ultimate upgrade – we have tested them meticulously in the original configuration but they were absolutely mental (the destruction of three enemy tanks at the same time wasn’t rare at all), which is why we reconfigured them. Right now, they still do a lot of damage but instead of direct fire explosions, they do two things:
 • They damage targets far away (better for long-range fire) due to improved splash
 • They do a lot of external module damage

Indirect hits will therefore still deal considerable damage while direct hits will cripple all save the toughest of MBTs. Needless to say, getting hit by one of these is not a good idea and the Buratino will be the bane of static defenses and “camper” players.

And that’s pretty much it. We hope that you’ll enjoy the firepower this vehicle is bringing to the game and, as always:

See you on the battlefield!
