Origin Of Destiny: Crimson Awakening News

Update Status

Well well well, it's been a while hasn't it.
In fact well over a year since the last news!

But I am here today to tell you this project is still being worked on!
It's still going to take a while before I can release an update, but that's because I've broken everything been pushing the game engine to it's limits!

With the lighting overhaul from the last announcement, I wanted to also improve other aspect of the games visuals an audio.

Did you know that lighting doesn't work too well when going diagonally? Turns out that was a rather interesting visual!
But I got that fixed!

Additionally I wanted to make ambient sounds more immersive. So... after much trial and error I sounds to be location based... sort of. They just get louder the closer you are. I never managed to get them to be directional.

Up Next we have messages! They will now no longer be a boring box at the bottom of the screen, but will now show above the character that's talking, which is also very useful to know which character is talking in scenes.

Additionally, I've been looking back over the reviews and posts to identify other areas that needed fixing up.

A common complaint was the battle system being too fast. Now, we do have the "Wait" battle mode that does address this, but I will also be looking at balancing the battles to make it so playing on Semi-Active and Full Active are not a constant barrage of actions so you as the player can have time to think and act on whats going on.

If you have any suggestions or other feedback please let me know in the comments!

Lighting Overhaul In Next Release

As part of the rework, I wanted to ensure that the lighting system was used more effectively.

Currently the Lighting system is hardly used outside of a few small areas, however with the new update in the works I wanted to make the lighting of the work feel more unique.

As such I have completely changed the lighting system, as well as removed the unused day/night system.

Below is a screenshot of an area in the new version, On the left you can see the old (current) lighting system, and on the right, the new lighting.

There is no current planned public release at this time, however this will be release on the beta channel within the next few weeks.

Mini-Patch 30-05-2023

A mini patch has been released that fixes some Achievements not being given to players. (More coming soon™)

2022 Updates!

It's time for one of those Update posts that I hear people like!
Let’s start with a Quality-of-Life change, The Fullscreen and Fit Screen functions have been overhauled to now work seamlessly together!
You will now be able to switch between the different window sizes using F5 (To Toggle Fullscreen modes) F6 (To toggle window / game size) and F7 (To toggle Fit Screen Mode)

In the current version, Fullscreen and Fit Screen come hand in hand, meaning when you enable Fullscreen it will force fit screen.
In the next version, Fullscreen will auto-enable Fit Screen, however you can disable this and still toggle the “Play Area” using F6

Next, the F12 Reset button has been fully disabled so that it doesn’t clash with Steams default “Take Screenshot” button.

Now, on to the game changes.
I am about 1% of the way though the game overhaul. Although the area’s haven’t changed that much the story like has been tweaked to feel more in line with the overall story, This includes removing some fights and making the story flow a lot better without sending the player back to Karo Town like 500 times.
Stay tuned for more updates!

Status Update - 2021

So it's 2021 and... well there're not been an update in forever.

I know. I've been promising and update for a while now but as I'm sure you are all aware, 2020 was a bit of a bad year for following plans.

So, here is the news!

Game status: Still In Progress. (Yes I haven't forgotten about, or given up on it)

What's The Plan:
So, here's the "bad" news. I have decided to overhaul the game and start from zero. Now, you might be asking why, and I have 2 reason.

First, the current state of the game is kind of a mess. This is because as the game was developed, changes were made to the story and these didn't always get retro fixed to the existing content.

And second, there was never really a plan with this game. This whole project actually started a test project that I never planned to release, however as I was testing ideas they all seemed to fit together, and that's how the project started.

So, whats going to happen?

Well the story will be re-written from the ground up, some lore will change, and a lot of areas will be re-designed.

Once that has all be done, at least up to the point of the last update (that was never fully finished, sorry) an update will be pushed to Early Access, old saves will no longer work, however all DLC will still be available to players via the quest book as normal.

TL;DR
The game is getting overhauled... Jessie vented in admin and Mike is acting sus so Sophie has called an emergency meeting.
