Today, we're launching some amazing new free TV channels in Bigscreen such as Rick and Morty, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Samurai Jack, Robot Chicken, The Venture Bros, The Eric Andre Show, and more!

Bigscreen TV lets you watch free Internet livestreams with your friends. Bigscreen doesn't host these channels. They are Internet livestreams on websites such as Twitch and YouTube. These sites are usually ad-supported and are sometimes region-restricted, so unfortunately not all channels are available worldwide.

In total, Bigscreen now has more than 172 free TV channels for people to watch. Our recent UI update released in December makes it easy to browse all of this content. In addition, Bigscreen also has dozens of 3D movies for rent, a free Videoplayer to watch your own video files, a free Remote Desktop feature to stream your Windows desktop screen into a room, and also public and private rooms to hang out and chat.

Today's new TV channels all have an age restriction on them, requiring users to consent that they are 18 or older before entering. Bigscreen's built-in Parental Controls also allow parents to prevent their children from entering any of these 18+ rooms, public rooms, or social situations.

We have a lot in store for 2021! We're developing a Friends System, new servers that dramatically improve the video/audio streaming quality, a new Remote Desktop feature with ultra-low latency desktop streaming to the Quest, built-in YouTube support, enabling TV Channels in private rooms, and more!

This is a small update to clean up bugs and add a few features. First, we added subtitles for TV channels!

We added support for Inverted 3D modes (SBSRL and UO) in our Videoplayer. We also fixed a Videoplayer bug: playback controls should no longer remain on-screen (like if you only have one controller turned on). This fix also applies to our Movie Rentals.

We also improved the lighting in our new Drive-In Theater. Let us know if you like it!



We have tons of big updates in the pipeline (like improved streaming quality with dedicated servers, a Friends System, a brand new low-latency Remote Desktop feature, more 3D movies from major movie studios, and more!) so please stay tuned for major improvements coming soon! We’re super excited to release this major update to you all! The long-awaited and highly requested DRIVE-IN THEATER is now available in Bigscreen! Now you can enjoy this nostalgic new environment from the comfort of your home.

Our menu also got a huge makeover! The new UI gives you an overview of everything you can do in Bigscreen:

• Windows Desktop - use your PC in VR to play games, browse the web, and watch movies
  
• Videoplayer - watch your own movie files
  
• Movies - rent 3D movies and attend live movie events
  
• TV Channels - watch free 24/7 livestreams from YouTube, Pluto, and Twitch
  
• Public Rooms - hang out with people from around the world in virtual environments like campfires and space stations
  
• Private Rooms - hang out with your friends in a private space
  

The new scrollable interface and content categories make it easier to discover interesting rooms to join and videos to watch.

We added over 60 new TV channels including major crime-drama series such as Narcos and hilarious game shows like Wipeout!

We’re also launching a new TV category called To Infinity and Beyond dedicated to livestreams of rocket launches. If you miss a SpaceX rocket launch, you might catch a rerun in these channels!



We used to support 8 users per lobby, and our new beefy servers allow 12 users per lobby! Next year, we plan to increase the room size limits for all user-created rooms as well! Imagine creating a 25 or 50-person room for a meetup or conference!

As a reminder, Oculus no longer supports the Oculus Go. Oculus does not allow Bigscreen to release any updates for the Oculus Go, so unfortunately, we are no longer able to provide any future support to this headset. Oculus Go users may still be able to use certain features on the old server, but we will shut down those servers in the coming weeks.

Next year, we’re working really hard to push out a friends system, new avatars, new environments, major improvements to our video streaming, a new ultra-low latency Remote Desktop feature, and more! Porting our app to PlayStation and Mac is also on the roadmap, but it takes a lot of work and we’ll need more time.

Thank you all for using Bigscreen and supporting us with your movie ticket purchases! Unfortunately due to COVID, our negotiations with movie studios have also been delayed. We’re working hard on obtaining more 3D movies and licensing movies in more countries like the UK and Europe. Your ongoing support is highly appreciated!
