Steel Seed | New Update Is Live

Since launch, we’ve been listening closely to your feedback — and this latest update brings a wide range of improvements that reflect your input.[/p][p]This patch focuses on refining the overall gameplay experience, with particular attention to narrative clarity, onboarding enhancements, and Koby’s functionality. We’ve revised key dialogue across the game to strengthen storytelling, introduced smarter quest indicators to help you navigate the world more intuitively, and implemented a number of quality-of-life updates to both controller and keyboard/mouse inputs.[/p][p]Additionally, we’ve resolved several community-reported bugs and polished various systems, from checkpoints and collision to lighting and level streaming.[/p][p]Let’s dive into the details. 👇[/p][p][/p][h3]New Features & Improvements[/h3]
  • [p]The Quest Indicator(s) now moves along the path to the current objective(s), or to the closest S4VI Point when a teleport is required or more efficient.[/p]
  • [p]Extensive revisions to the game's dialogue throughout the entire experience. These changes enhance narrative clarity, character development, and overall immersion.[/p]
  • [p]The counter for challenges requiring killing multiple enemies in stealth without entering combat is now only displayed after killing at least half of the required enemies.[/p]
  • [p]Updated Photo Mode input to not overlap with the new default Koby Flight movement input.[/p]
  • [p]Minor tutorial fixes.[/p]
  • [p]Minor checkpoint fixes.[/p]
  • [p]Minor collision fixes.[/p]

  • [p]Koby Tool upgrades had no effect on the equipped tool until it was re-selected.[/p]
  • [p]You could skip the post-Shamyr chasing sequence beginning scene if you kept gliding without landing.[/p]
  • [p]The fast travel menu indicator ignored the Lower Vertical Garden S4VI Point.[/p]
  • [p]Impossible to enter the Photo Mode after some scenes.[/p]
[h3]Mouse and Keyboard improvements and fixes:[/h3]
  • [p]The Mouse Wheel can now be used to scroll Koby Tools without the need to open the Selection Wheel.[/p]
  • [p]Kamikaze QTEs with keyboard now display arrows instead of WASD, and can be completed using either arrows or WASD.[/p]
  • [p]Clicking Zoe or Koby skin previews may break the next keyboard input.[/p]
  • [p]Clicking a different tab in the game menu may not switch to the selected tab.[/p]

This update focuses on enhancing the early gameplay experience and refining Koby’s functionality in and out of combat.   • [p]Koby Tutorial Overhaul: Improved Koby’s shooting and tools introduction for a more intuitive learning curve.[/p]
  • [p]Noise Diverter Upgrade: Now consistently attracts enemies to the point of impact, rather than the shooter’s origin if previously alerted.[/p]
  • [p]Enhanced Glitch Blast Stealth: Enemies will now take longer to trace Glitch Blast origin unless fired directly in their line of sight.[/p]
  • [p]Increased Koby Stun Damage: Koby’s standard shots now apply more stun in Story and Standard difficulties.[/p]
  • [p]Time Overclock Expansion: Can now be used during Koby Flight sequences.[/p]
  • [p]Aerial Aiming: Aiming and slow-time aiming are now available while double-jumping.[/p]
  • [p]Tool Wheel Reordering: Koby’s tool selection wheel now mirrors the order found in the skill menu for better consistency.[/p]
  • [p]Improved Health Tutorial: Players now receive a Health Boost in the first level with a better onboarding experience. This skill is now called Essential Energy and will be automatically applied to existing save games.[/p]
  • [p]Automatic Recovery: Zoe now heals and enemy respawns reset automatically when reaching a S4VI Point.[/p]
  • [p]Checkpoint Enhancements: Added new and more frequent checkpoints for improved flow and accessibility.[/p]
  • [p]Accessibility Option: New setting to disable the Low Health Red Frame effect.[/p]
  • [p]Final Encounter Prompt: Added contextual command tip for the special interaction in the last section of the Robot Assembly area.[/p]

  • [p]Ledge Climb Teleportation: Fixed an issue where pressing jump repeatedly on a corner ledge could teleport Zoe to another ledge.[/p]
  • [p]Audio Pitch Glitch: Resolved a bug where returning to the last checkpoint during slow motion distorted audio pitch until the next slow motion event.[/p]

Today, we’re excited to roll out another update packed with technical improvements, community-requested features, and two new supported languages!

Your feedback continues to shape the future of Steel Seed, and today's patch is another step toward making the game the best experience possible.

[h3]🌐 Language Support Expansion[/h3]
We’re thrilled to announce that Steel Seed is now available in Czech and Turkish! Thank you to our communities in those regions for your patience. We hope this helps more players enjoy the game in their native language. If you encounter any translation inconsistencies, don’t hesitate to let us know via Steam Discussions or our official Discord.

  • Improved mission flow in the "Chained Towers" section.
  • Adjusted damage values for Koby and Zoe’s base attacks.
  • Fall damage is now disabled in Easy Mode.
  • Koby’s flight input mapping now opens the selection wheel by default (LB/L1/R key) for both Zoe and Koby.
  • You can now perform execution attacks on stunned enemies even if their HP is above 30%.
  • Camera movement during dodging is now smoother around enemies.
  • Certain in-game dialogues can now be skipped.
  • The first dialogue now starts after the first cinematic.
  • Challenges requiring consecutive kills without entering combat now display an in-game counter and persist across fast travel or game closures.
  • Added a text prompt to clarify the cover button must be held.
  • Updated visual design of Loot Stations for easier recognition.
  • Combat VFX optimizations.
  • Shadow optimizations in the Excavation Node.

  • Corrected Zoe occasionally speaking in the wrong language in the Assembly Node.

First of all, a massive thank you to all of you for your continued support, feedback, and passion for Steel Seed. Since launch, we’ve been carefully listening to your suggestions and combing through your reports, and we’re happy to roll out another update that addresses both technical issues and community-requested features.

Your feedback has been instrumental in shaping the game’s evolution, and today’s patch is another step toward making Steel Seed the best it can be.

[h3]New Features & Improvements[/h3]
  • Implemented a Field of View Offset setting, now available under the Graphics settings menu.
  • Ultrawide support improved – wide screens now extend the horizontal view instead of cropping vertically.
  • Added full support for PlayStation button glyphs, which can be enabled via the Accessibility settings.


[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed a crash when reloading levels that contain ragdolls.
  • Fixed a crash occurring after using the rapid scan in certain scenarios.
  • Fixed the puzzle in the Excavation Node becoming unresponsive after player death.
  • Corrected the chessboard model visual issue.
  • Fixed incorrect S4VI Point assignment for a T1F Drone in “Titan’s Core” (previously linked to “The Depth”).
  • Resolved an issue causing excessive delay between in-game dialogue lines.
  • Fixed cut-off Russian voice-over lines during certain dialogue sequences.
  • Applied minor translation fixes across several languages.
