Classic PC adventure game Syberia's full remaster doesn't do the original justice, but there's a silver lining

Announced back in May, the remaster of beloved 2002 point-and-click adventure game Syberia doesn't seem to be going according to plan. After a steady stream of spotlights highlighting how this hallmark of the pre-rendered background era, and one of the best adventure games ever made, has been refreshed for the days of 4k gaming, the newly released Syberia Remastered is currently sitting at 'mixed' reviews on Steam, with some even going so far as to call it "a cash grab."

Cult classic PC adventure game returns 23 years later with a major upgrade

Syberia is renowned as one of the best written adventure games ever made. Created by Microids and Benoît Sokal, a Belgian comic book artist, the 2002 project was the first official entry in a series that's spanned five games, including the recently remade introduction to its setting, Amerzone. Earlier this year, we learned that Syberia was set to receive its own relaunch, which would bring the classic to current audiences with a new version as fully reworked as other adventures like Myst and Riven. Now, with today's launch date announcement, we have news that this remake isn't far off.
