TITANS 0.4.5 - Can’t build that!

Hello everyone,

This week we introduce our first iteration of Unbuildable Zones. Until now everyone could build freely anywhere he pleased, included some sensitive zones of the game. With Unbuildable Zone player’s will no longer be able to clutter the starting shores and the Wardens arena.

Even more importantly, this will allow us to iterate on different kind of areas and how they might work: Tribal Areas with a dedicated ownership, Fertile and farmable lands, and other chances to personalize your village.

On the Fire Titan side, work’s progressing nicely and we’re almost ready to spoil something more on that. So Join us on Discord, give us feedback on the current state of the game and get ready for some serious fighting.

NEW FEATURES
  • Added Unbuildable Zones in certain areas to prevent building spam on warden and players’ spawning area


UPDATED FEATURES
  • Gazelles will now respawn in a certain area instead of the place they died
  • Changed all nodes hitpoints. You should be able to mine more out of each node
  • Changed the jumping system to allow a tiny bit of freedom during falls


BUGFIXES
  • Fixed Gazelles navigation and behaviour that sometimes froze them in place.
  • Fixed a bug on mining and nodes
  • Fixed a bug that slowed the players down when pressing “aim” with a melee weapon
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the loading screen to show up and froze the game
  • Fixed a few typos in the UI
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the aim cross-air to show when aiming down a bow’s sight

TITANS 0.4.4 - Of AI, UI and other odd beasts

Hello everyone,

This week’s update focus on quality of life and AI rework. Let’s start with the latter: we have redone all animals AI and laid the foundation to introduce further, different animals in the game. This mean that, for now, the gazelle had been reworked and behave properly. To address the improved AI we put a wooden bow in the early tech tree. We plan to remove it as we change the combat system and introduce throwing weapons. Those will be one-shot, high-risk high-reward weapons that can be used in melee or thrown and lost on hit for a higher damage.

As for quality of life, we introduced a loading panel on server load that includes a hotkey summary for new players. While a total UI rework is far away, we have introduced immediate changes to the player’s log: connecting and disconnecting players should now be signalled with a proper colour and gathering or losing resources had been highlighted as well.

TITANS 0.4.3 - Hotfixes, hotfixes everywhere

Hello again and welcome to this week’s update. Today we continue the game’s refactoring, slowly and surely changing each individual feature from “working” to “final code I swear this is the last time for real, finger’s crossed”. For this reason the game had to be reset with the current update. You can find what’s changed at the end of this post.

As for new features, we promised some insight on the combat system. As the Team is focused on the Fire Titan, a few of us remain dedicated to building interaction and code refactoring. In a few weeks we plan to release Containers and Building Durability. We plan to give the player a new fragile container to store farmed resources, in the form of a Clay Vessel, and a more durable container in the form of the current Granary.

This open up the topic of building durability. Current buildings are permanent, but in a few patches they will slowly decay over time and can be destroyed from other players. Looting a simple vessel will be fairly easy but fortified storages will grant a limited protection from conventional weapons. Do not despair, as decay is a slow affair and you will be able to repair buildings using Hammers.

UPDATED FEATURES
  • New jump animations.
  • New jump logic: you’re no longer allowed to jump on jumping players, or have any fun whatsoever.
  • The player now slide to the ground when he’ll reach unwalkable terrain.


BUGFIXES
  • Fixed a bug that let players enter unpassable structures
  • Fixed some stuttering issues with players’ movement and jump animations
  • Fixed a bug that let the IA ignore some terrain and structures. Do not worry, it still bugs in some others.

TITANS 0.4.2 - Easter Update

Yet another Discord callout.

And lo!
the Almighty Duck, laying dormant evermore!
the humans return to their pointless fiddling

It’s been a fun Easter. Several players have danced around naked, bearing the Mark of the Duck and hunting Wardens in organized teams. Quack quack everyone!

Today we’re unlocking the basic tattoos back and keep the new Rising Duck tattoo as a random spawn. Tattoos have proven to be a nice feature, one that we’re looking to unlock as craftables as part of the combat system. We’re working on that and will release it along the Fire Titan in a certain point in the future.

As for network stability, we focused on a hidden, sneaky, slimy bug that sometime clogged down the server for good with insane requests. We found out the cause and managed to fix it, the Duck be praised.

Come back next week as we’ll be… building on some side effects of the combat system.

  • Fixed a bug that caused all the buildings UI to update every time a player opened his inventory.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the forges UI to generate false client-side IDs and requests.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the server CPU to overload due to an insane number of obsolete client IDs.

NEW FEATURES
  • Added Graphics Settings at the game start. First iteration, please report any issue.
  • Added animation on Wardens’ attacks.
  • Added strafe animations when aiming with a bow.


UPDATED FEATURES
  • Player’s running animation scaled down by a third. You can no longer tap into the Speed Force and break the boundaries of space and time, causing all sort of funky bugs.


BUGFIXES
  • Fixed an occurrence in which the Warden Bullets did not explode on impact.
  • Increased the Wardens bullet scale and changed its spawn position.
  • Fixed Player’s Respawn location on reconnection.
  • Fixed an item-related bug that occurred by having more than 5 items in recipes.
  • The E (interaction/gather) button now has a delay to avoid item duplication.
