The upcoming August Nova Cup takes place August 20-21.

$750 in cash prizes and sign-up is free - first come first served!
There are four skill divisions, so no matter what your rating is, you have a chance to win.
Participation prize: Every participant who plays all of their matches will receive a FREE random card. If you haven't played a tournament yet, this is a great time to join.

• Sign-ups are open from NOW until August 20 at 9am PDT / 6pm CEST.
  
• To sign up, find a teammate and log into Legion TD 2. Both players should join a unique chat lobby by typing /join team name (e.g. /join Snail Kings) in Global Chat. After you're both in the lobby, have one player type /signup.
  
• The first 16 teams to sign up in each division can participate. Other teams are waitlisted. There are usually no-shows, so waitlisted teams are encouraged to be present in the Discord and ready to play. View the team list to see your sign-up position and division.
  
• Both players must join the Legion TD 2 Official Tournament Discord. Set your server nickname to match your in-game name.

Starting this month, you may now sign up as a solo player!

• You may sign-up as a solo player using the usual /signup command, and you will be added to the public Teams list as usual
  
• If there is a waitlist, team sign-ups will always take priority over solo sign-ups
  
• If you sign up as a solo, but then you find a teammate, you can re-sign up as a team any time before check-ins start. Just use the /signup command again with the new teammate. The tournament organizer will void your old solo signup after they process your new team signup.
  
• After check-ins are over, all checked-in solo players will be randomly formed into teams by the tournament organizer. You cannot request a specific teammate at this point; if you want to play with a specific person, you should have signed up as a team instead.

It is still strongly recommended to sign-up as a team to guarantee your spot in the tournament and to give you time to practice with your teammate beforehand.

Division 1 Only: Conquest Format (New!)
After winning a match using a particular Mastermind option, you can no longer use that Mastermind option for the rest of that series.

• For example, if you win game 1 with Greed, you can't pick Greed the rest of the series.
  
• The restriction applies to players individually; if your ally picks Greed, but you picked Yolo, you can still pick Greed next game, but your ally can't.
  
• The restriction only applies to the winning players. If you lose the game, you can still pick the same options next game.
  
• If you violate this rule and your opponent reports it, the game will be counted as an automatic loss for your team. Because this is a new rule, please show good sportsmanship and remind each other before starting the game.

The goal of the Conquest Format is to force the winning team to be able to win with a variety of playstyles, which leads to more varied matches. It also gives the losing team a little bit of help for the rest of the series. Credits to Pennywise#8456 and Shadowings#1413 for this format!

- All players gain 1-400 gold after each wave (exact formula is WaveNumber^2)
- Worker gather rate is reduced by 3% (to keep games from getting too fed too fast)


We’re excited to officially introduce Flight_Tv as the Legion TD 2 Meme Master! He will be managing and creating content for AutoAttack Games’ Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube channels.

For those of you who don't know Flight, he's been creating Legion videos for years, from Early Access through release. His videos have been instrumental for a lot of people learning the game, and his Twitch channel has been the source of some of the more memorable memes in Legion history. We are thrilled to have him on board and await the memes with bated breath.

- Added a new thinking bubble to the ping wheel, which will signal that you’re “wondering what to do next…”
- If you ping the thinking bubble, then quickly ping one of the upcoming waves, it will display the “thinking about sending on” message
- Pinging the wave bar (top of the HUD) will now always signal that you're expecting a send on that wave



Improvements

• Bottom Bar: Added reddit link & Announcements button (to reopen latest news about the game)
  
• Dual Building: In the 4v4 map, you can now ping the dual build area to display a “wants to dual build” message. If your ally pings a thumbs-up or pings the dual build area as well within 3 seconds, you will both receive a confirmation message and the dual building warning tooltip will be disabled. This is a small QoL feature intended to make dual build communication just a bit easier.
  
• Attack Target Selection: You can now quickly select a unit’s attack target by right-clicking the unit’s icon. [Example]

Fixes

• Fixed a rare bug where restarting a campaign mission just before you lost would cause the game to become unstable
  
• Fixed a rare bug where a player’s client would become unresponsive when a backend service provider had a specific outage

[h3]General[/h3]

Ranked Ladder
Players at the top of the ladder who are inactive lose a small amount of rating per week, to avoid camping for Ladder Points:
- Players rated 2800+ lose 20 rating per week after 2 weeks of inactivity
- Players rated 2601-2800 lose 10 rating per week after 2 weeks inactivity
- Players rated 2600 and below are unaffected
For next season (beginning in January), we'll be revamping the design of Ladder Points to further encourage activity.

King
- Giant Slayer: 17% → 20%
- AOE spell damage increased by 10-15%
- Chain Frost and Lightning Hammer: Projectile speed increased to be less vulnerable to mass Froggos, etc.
- Base attack damage decreased by 35%
- Upgrade Attack: 11% → 15%
- Upgrade Spell: 8% → 7%

Pushing last patch’s changes further. The king is now more vulnerable to small leaks and relatively less vulnerable to large leaks.

Glacial Touch
- Damage: 65 → 50

Still overperforming with the highest pick rate and a solid win rate.

[h3]Fighters[/h3]

Chloropixie
- Health: 600 → 570
- Damage: 44 → 46
- Early Harvest: Mythium gained: 7 → 6

Pushing last patch’s changes further. Rewarding players who keep Chloropixie alive longer, rather than just using her as a sacrificial lamb. This also nerfs Chloropixie spam in Classic.

Buzz / Consort
- Attack speed: 1.01 → 0.99

High win rate.

Harpy / Sky Queen
- Attack speed: 2.04 → 2.15

Low pick rate.

Desert Pilgrim
- Mana regeneration increased by 8%

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Head Chef
- Health: 3620 → 3670
- Damage: 124 → 126

Low win rate.

Ocean Templar
- Damage: 180 → 160
- Resonance: Regeneration: 2% → 2.5%

Shifting power into the main identity of this unit: regeneration.

Mudman
- Health: 1640 → 1600

High win rate.

Elite Archer / Trinity Archer
- Attack speed: 1.05 → 1.03

High win rate.

Nightmare
- Health: 1100 → 1140

Low pick rate.

Banana Bunk / Banana Haven
- Attack speed: 1.25 → 1.2

High win rate and pick rate.

Fire Lord / Fenix
- Attack speed: 1.05 → 1.03

High win rate.

Soul Gate / Hell Gate
- Healing and regeneration are now 50% effective on the buildings themselves (still 100% effective on the summons)

Healing effects on Soul Gate and Hell Gate are fun but too strong, especially when playing with one holder who overbuilds. Healers such as Desert Pilgrim are also now less likely to target Soul Gate & Hell Gate.

[h3]Mercenaries[/h3]

Cannoneer
- Damage: 102 → 105

Drake
- Attack speed: 0.97 → 1

These mid cost income mercenaries are overshadowed by power mercenaries and cheap income mercenaries in ranked.

Shaman
- Mana regeneration decreased by 8%

Too much of a must-send on waves 18-21.

Major Improvements

• Pause: You can now pause the game in Play vs. AI! You can still pause in Custom/Campaign games, as usual.
  
• Game Coach: All Game Coaches now have more variations for their voice lines, so they should feel less repetitive now
  
• Shop: Card Trader now has voice lines when you enter the shop and make purchases or idle around
  Website: Updated Features page, added Game Manual, and added Leaderboard
  
• New Language Available: Lithuanian
  

Minor Improvements

• Shop: Improved Backgrounds UI; now shows animated video preview and description when previewing a background
  
• Game Coach: Fixed a few cases of the “You were overbuilt” tip displaying when it shouldn’t have
  
• Takeover Bots: Now will ignore autosend (previously, if a player left autosend on when they left, the bot would always autosend)
  
• New Players: Improved Classic matchmaking for new players (they now start lower rated, but gain more rating in their first 20 games)
  
• Steam Achievements: “Work Work” achievement now only requires 70 workers instead of 100 (it was way too hard after removing 2x workers)
  
• Battle Scars: Now displays units with the buff on the tab scoreboard
  
• Fiesta: Now shows the total gold gained from Fiesta in the bottom left scoreboard

• Pathing & Targeting: Fixed some cases where leaked enemies would try to wander through walls into another lane

• Stability: Fixed a rare bug where the game would sometimes crash after loading the main menu
  
• Weekly Challenge: Fixed a bug where the wrong winning build was being displayed when looking at the past week

Localization & API

• API: Added support for tracking stacks per fighter in your build for units like Nekomata, Hydra, Sakura, etc.
  
• API: Added support for tracking which unit you used your Legion Spell on (i.e. Hero, Villain, etc.)
  

[h3]General[/h3]

King
- Giant Slayer: 14% → 17%
- Attack speed and Immolation damage increased by 15%
- Base attack damage decreased by 40%
- Upgrade Attack: 8% → 11%
- Upgrade Spell: 9% → 8%

These changes make the king more vulnerable to small leaks and relatively less vulnerable to large leaks. This increases the viability of solo aggression (making one player leak, but not multiple) and makes the king less susceptible to being killed in a single wave.

Dual Building (4v4)
- AOE damage reduction: -35% → -37.5%

AOE is a bit too strong in dual building. Along with the Pyro nerf (below), this should encourage other builds.

Cartel
- Income penalty after wave 10: -37 → -36

Castle
- Bonus income after wave 10: 44 → 45

Cash Out
- Bonus gold: 22 → 23

Fiesta
- Gold from leaking: 13-51 → 14-52

Greed and, to a lesser extent, Yolo continue to dominate both top ladder and tournament play. Slight buffs to other playstyles will diversify the meta.

[h3]Legion Spells[/h3]

Counterattack
- Mythium: 45 → 50
- Mythium each leak: 45 → 50

Low win rate and pick rate.

Giant Snail
- Bonus health: 240 → 260
- Bonus damage: 10 → 11

Low win rate and pick rate.

Glacial Touch
- Damage: 75 → 65

Very high pick rate.

[h3]Fighters[/h3]

Chloropixie
- Attack speed: 1.1 → 1.12
- Early Harvest: Mythium: 8 → 7

Rewarding players who keep Chloropixie alive longer, rather than just using her as a sacrificial lamb.

Sakura
- Attack speed: 1.1 → 1.12

The previous nerf hit Sakura a bit too hard.

Pyro
- Attack speed: 1.27 → 1.31
- Pyromancy: Splash damage to flying units: 50% → 30%

Reverting last patch’s change and slightly buffing attack speed (compared to before). Pyro was too hard to leak on waves 1-5.

Gargoyle
- Attack speed: 0.91 → 0.89

Green Devil
- Health: 1050 → 1040
- Attack speed: 1.315 → 1.3

High win rate and pick rate, Gargoyle and Green Devil remain the premier arcane tanks. Additionally, the wave adjustments indirectly buff Gargoyle and Green Devil, so a small nerf is in order.

Tempest
- Fixed a bug where Machine Gunner was firing slower than intended

Leviathan
- Fixed a bug where Bombardier was firing faster than intended

Sea Serpent
- Health: 570 → 600

Deepcoiler
- Health: 1740 → 1840

Low win rate and pick rate, Sea Serpent and Deepcoiler have been underperforming for a while.

Azeria
- Damage: 67 x 3 → 68 x 3

Low win rate and pick rate.

Holy Avenger
- Damage: 96 → 95
- Attack speed: 1.16 → 1.14

No longer perfectly 3-shots Wave 4 (Flying Chickens), making opening with Holy Avenger opening (via Cash Out) less risk-free.

Sovereign
- Health: 6450 → 6400
- Attack speed: 1.16 → 1.14

High win rate and pick rate. It's a bit awkward to release the Sovereign animated background and a Sovereign skin and give it a nerf at the same time...but such is our commitment to keeping a balanced game.

Soul Gate / Hell Gate
- Fixed a bug where sometimes they weren’t properly aggroed on ranged waves until the wave got near them

Gatling Gun / Vulcan Cannon
- Fixed a rare bug where they would lock-on to a target that went out of range and wouldn’t switch to a new target

Desert Pilgrim / Seadragon / Lifebinder
- Fixed a bug where mana cost wasn’t being properly refunded when it canceled its ability cast. Thanks to Reze#7495 for the video recordings of this bug.

Pack Rat
- Fixed a bug where using Sacrifice while it was in Treasure Hunt form didn’t properly award full gold

[h3]Mercenaries[/h3]

Pack Leader
- Leadership aura: 7 (14 for bosses) → 6 (15 for bosses)

Pack Leader is almost always good and too often the best choice, crowding out other options and outshining more expensive mercenaries in the late game. This change makes Pack Leader weaker in the late game. Wave adjustments (see below) keep Pack Leader viable in the early game.

Pack Leader is now also more viable on wave 10. Previously, Mimic was better the vast majority of the time.

Four Eyes
- Attack speed: 2.33 → 2.25

It's been a tad too strong/highly used. This should put it back in line with other power mercenaries.

[h3]Waves[/h3]

Waves 7, 8, 9, 12
- Attack speed: +15%, damage -14% (DPS unchanged)

This change keeps Pack Leader viable on early waves without changing any DPS.

Wave 18
- Damage: 160 → 170
- Poison-Tipped Pole: Single-target damage: 110 → 130

Wave 18 has been weak for a couple patches, but these changes should make the Chiefs a threat again.
