Team Sign-up Instructions
  • Sign-ups are open from NOW until April 29 at 9am PST / 6pm CEST.
  • To sign up, find a teammate and form a party. After you're both in the party, have one player type "/signup [team name]" (e.g. /signup Snail Kings) in chat. You should see a confirmation message that your sign-up went through. For those who participated in previous Nova Cups, you no longer need to do /join to signup.
  • The first 16 teams to sign up in each division can participate. Other teams are waitlisted. There are usually no-shows, so waitlisted teams are encouraged to be present in the Discord and ready to play. View the team list to see your sign-up position and division.
  • If there are more than 32 teams checked in, there will be an additional best-of-1 qualifying round to allow more teams to participate. It is a best-of-1, rather than a best-of-3, to keep the event from running overly long.
  • Both players must join the Legion TD 2 Official Tournament Discord. Make sure to set your server nickname to match your in-game name.
Solo Sign-ups

Like last month, you may now sign up as a solo player!
  • You may sign-up as a solo with a suggested team name using the "/signup [team name]" command. Solo teams will be added to the Public Teams list, then be formed into teams on the day of the tournament. Solo teams will be randomly assigned a team name from either of its members.
  • If there is a waitlist, team sign-ups will always take priority over solo sign-ups
  • If you sign up as a solo, but then you find a teammate, you can re-sign up as a team any time before check-ins start. Just use the /signup command again with the new teammate. The tournament organizer will void your old solo signup after they process your new team signup.
  • After check-ins are over, all checked-in solo players will be randomly formed into teams by the tournament organizer. You cannot request a specific teammate at this point; if you want to play with a specific person, you should have signed up as a team instead.
It is still strongly recommended to sign-up as a team to guarantee your spot in the tournament and to give you time to practice with your teammate beforehand.

    • Final (Best of 5)

Game Balance
Classic
Mode Voting: Mode Voting now requires 2 more yes votes than no votes to pass (up from 1).
Super Fiesta: Reworked. Now replaces regular Fiesta with Super Fiesta, which gives 100% Fiesta gold to yourself and 50% to each of your allies.

These two tweaks should alleviate some players' concerns about feeling forced to play a different playstyle than they wanted
Mastermind
Cash Out
- Starting gold: 22 → 21

Our philosophy is to balance mastermind playstyles around Greed to avoid power creep. Cash Out is currently out-performing Greed.

Cartel is not being nerfed because it’s only strong for the top 2% of players, and even among this 2%, it’s strong but not heavily outclassing other playstyles.

Fiesta
When picking Fiesta, you now have a 50% reduced chance of rolling Seedling.

Reducing the frequency of a fun, but game-distorting combo.

King
- Health increased: +30% on wave 1 → +5% on wave 21
- Damage rescaled: +10% on wave 1 → -5% on wave 21
- Giant Slayer: 20% → 12%
- Upgrade Attack now affects Giant Slayer damage
- Upgrade Attack and Spell: 10% → 7%
- Lightning Hammer damage: -26% on wave 1 → -36% on wave 21
- Lightning Hammer now deals 4% current health damage (this is affected by Upgrade Spell)

These changes address some previously-unintuitive strategies, like upgrading spell being better than upgrading attack for Wave 20. Now:
  • Upgrade Attack is now more impactful against big targets.
  • Conversely, an unupgraded king is more vulnerable to big targets.
  • Tip: Upgrade Attack on boss waves or if you’re expecting a Mimic on 7 or Ogre on 9!
  • The king now takes slightly more damage against swarms, like wave 16.
Fighters
Aqua Spirit
- Health: 380 → 370
- Attack speed: 0.82 → 0.833

Rogue Wave
- Health: 1150 → 1200

Fire Elemental
- Health: 1350 → 1400

Low win rate and pick rate. Shifting health and damage profiles, but an overall buff.

Nekomata
- Attack speed: 0.92 → 0.935

Low win rate. Everyone’s favorite cat is underperforming.

Sacred Steed
- Mana restore: 1 → 0.9

Pegasus
- Health: 2510 → 2470
- Damage: 112 → 110

High win rate and pick rate. Sacred Steed’s mana/gold efficiency now matches that of Pegasus.

Tempest
- Health: 780 → 770

Leviathan
- Damage: 70 → 68

High win rate.

Infiltrator / Orchid
- Attack speed: 1.03 → 1.05

Low win rate and pick rate.

King Claw
- Damage: 125 → 120

Very high pick rate.

Whitemane
- Health: 4600 → 4550
- Damage: 181 → 179

High pick rate. You’ll now need more value in your Whitemane aura for it to be worth it.

Priestess of the Abyss
- Mana regeneration decreased by 4%

Priestess is the strongest opening in high Elo.

Azeria
- Mana regeneration decreased by 4%
- Echo Strike: Max health damage: 0.06% → 0.1%

Making it more valuable to build more than 1 Azeria and hold onto Priestess in your roll late game in exchange for opening and early game power.

Lord of Death / Hades
- Intellect: Mana restore on kill: 10% → 8%

High win rate and pick rate. One of the strongest overbuild-and-cover units.

Shadow Dancer
- Health: 1690 → 1700
- Attack speed: 1.45 → 1.47

Dread Knight
- Health: 3710 → 3740
- Attack speed: 1.45 → 1.47

Low win rate and pick rate. Last patch’s Witch change hurt an already underperforming unit.

Millennium / Doomsday Machine
- Attack speed: 0.617 → 0.633

Low pick rate. An OG unit that’s fallen out of favor.
Mercenaries
Witch
- Attack speed: 1.59 → 1.52

Last patch’s change gave Witch a stronger identity, and also spiked its win rate and usage rate.
Waves
Wave 17: Metal Dragons
- Attack speed: 1.71 → 1.68

Wave 21: Legion Lords & Legion King
- Legion Lords: Count: 10 → 8
- Legion Lords: Health: 6600 → 8250
- Legion Lords: Damage: 110 → 135
- Legion Lords: Bounty: 24 → 30
- Legion King: Damage: 550 → 540

AOE is now slightly weaker against wave 21.
On Watch
No outliers that we want to call out individually. As always, we'll continue to keep a close eye on everything.

v10.02 has been, data-wise, the most balanced the game has ever been.
  • Fighters: spread between the worst and best unit (according to Jules' power index) is the smallest it's ever been
  • Waves: healthy distribution of game-ending waves
  • Mercenaries: all seeing healthy usage & consistent performance
  • Mastermind: all playstyles seeing healthy usage & consistent performance
  • Legion Spells: all seeing healthy usage & consistent performance
  • Openings: lots of openings being widely used at all skill levels
That's not to say it's perfect (after all, we're continuing to patch the game), but it's worth celebrating.

Fixes & Improvements
  • Takeover Bots: Fixed a few more cases where a takeover bot would send without his team
  • Options: Fixed a bug where the Client Background “Randomize on Startup” setting wasn’t saving/working properly
  • Matchmaking: Improved matchmaking fairness for players under 1800 (tweaked a few edge-cases that shouldn’t slow down anything for most matches)
  • FairPlay: Players muted for >30 days can now only ping once per minute. By comparison, players muted for
  • FairPlay: Players muted for >30 days can now only -ff once per 5 minutes. Players muted for
  • Codex: Fixed a bug that caused the game to freeze when opening codex on some non-English languages
  • Codex: Fixed a bug that prevented filtering on non-english languages

Community Highlight

Last October's Nova Cup featured a community-run skin competition run by Pennywise and Schn3rd, where 958 votes were cast to pick the favorite among 16 entries. (Recap: here - scroll down)

The winning skin has been designed & implemented, and will be released in next month's patch. Plus, one of the runner-ups has been implemented as a surprise bonus!

To be released next month!

Closing Remarks

With this update, we are excited to introduce new units that will open up new synergies and strategies. As always, we'll continue to iterate until we get it right, so be ready for hotfixes soon after release. We've also made some tweaks to Classic mode voting based on data & player feedback. Finally, we've given the Card Trader some love and fixed a few nagging bugs.

Thank you again for playing Legion TD 2! We hope you continue to enjoy the game.

If you've enjoyed the game, but haven't left a review yet, please consider posting a short review for the game! It really helps get the word out there.

If you enjoy these updates, please give it a Thumbs Up, too!

And as always, if you have constructive criticism, let's chat about it. Discord and reddit are our main channels of communication, and aside from the development team, there are community helpers who can ensure your feedback is heard, as well as answer pretty much anything you've ever wanted to know about the game. If you want a guaranteed answer from the devs, the monthly AMAs on reddit are your best bet.

We know there's still much to improve, so let's work together.

Until next time!

Sincerely,
The Aye-Aye Attack Games Team

v10.02.4

More tweaks to Classic game modes. We are still gathering feedback & monitoring, and may have bigger changes in v10.03. Thank you to everyone who has and continues to give constructive feedback!

  • Hot Mode: Rotates daily instead of weekly
  • Blitz: Slowed down a bit, and fixed a bug with wind gust & clock tick sound
  • A few misc. tooltip fixes and other cosmetic fixes

Last week, we had also made the following changes (listed here in case you missed them!)

  • Super Fiesta: You can now pick Fiesta to bring your Fiesta gold to the moon
  • Ordered Chaos: You can now pick other Legions/Masterminds if you want, but Chaos now gives +6 income. So you should still pick Chaos. ;)
  • Double Lock-In: You can now pick other Legions/Masterminds if you want.

v10.02.3

Small improvements based on player feedback.

Classic Mode Reworks
• Super Fiesta: You can now pick Fiesta to bring your Fiesta gold to the moon
• Ordered Chaos: You can now pick other Legions/Masterminds if you want, but Chaos now gives +6 income. So you should still pick Chaos. 😉
• Double Lock-In: You can now pick other Legions/Masterminds if you want.

These changes should allow players more freedom to play what they want, while the optimal play is to still to go along with the featured Mastermind.

Minor Fixes
• Profile: Game Stats: Improved some formatting by hiding some values if they were 0
