# Rec Room UPDATE - the "So Long, 2025" Edition

[h2]Our Final Update of 2025[/h2][p]As the year winds down, we want to take a moment to thank you all for being a part of the Rec Room community. We hope you enjoy happy holidays with family and friends, and we're excited to see what the new year brings. Sending season's greetings from the entire Rec Room team!
[/p][h3]New In This Update:[/h3]
  • [p]The team has been busy cooking up a brand-new flavor of challenge event, which will be on the menu later this month. Stay tuned![/p]
  • [p]Badges earned via RROs now have a special shader treatment to verify their authenticity.[/p]
  • [p] Speaking of badges - we're adding 2 new badges for Golden Trophy mods later this week! Earn the Turbo Goblin badge by beating Golden Trophy with Turbo & Coconut Chaos mods enabled. If you're truly skilled and can do it 20 times, you'll unlock the Turbo Goblin Master badge.[/p]
  • [p]When finishing Hide & Seek, you can now jump right into another game with "Play Again" (or buy more if you don't have any left in your backpack).[/p]
[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • [p]Fixed a bug with the scoreboard in Quest lobbies that made the start button non-interactable.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where avatar items would sometimes disappear... like a reverse magic trick![/p]
  • [p]The keyboard in VR was often spawning in your guts, and it was super hard to use. We adjusted it so that the keyboard always spawns in a predictable distance from your current view. The trade off is that the keyboard may not line up with your current watch UI quite like before, but we think this works out better[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug where standing on Studio Objects with scales other than 1 could cause player's positions to jump in space for a short time. So no more hopping around (unless you want to).[/p]
  • [p]Handles in Rooms 2.0 will no longer "offset" from their compound object.[/p]

# Rec Room UPDATE - the "Winter Wonderland 25" Edition

[h3]New In This Update:[/h3]
  • It's Winterfest in Rec Room & the Theater Department has gotten into the holiday spirit (they even convinced Kevin to don some seasonal headgear)! Look out for holiday events and wintery fun throughout the month of December!
  • We added 3 new mods to \^Paintball! Shotguns Only, Hammers Only, and Fiesta Mode - it's time to party!
  • Speaking of Paintball Mods - we've upgraded "Paintball Mod Tickets" to "RRO Mod Tickets," made it possible to view them in your backpack, and created a new board to activate them. Which is helpful because...
  • We have expanded mods to Golden Trophy! There's three new ways to play:
  • Turbo - everything is faster.
  • Coconut Chaos - Coconut Bombs drop from the sky.
  • Laser Weapons - Swaps all weapons in the quest for Laser Tag variants.
  • We cranked up the music in the Merry Midway paintball map, and nerfed the amount of movement speed you get from a charged Splat Hammer attack in screen mode.
  • You can buy Room Boosts anywhere now. And you will soon be able to use them in even more creator rooms when boosting is turned on for them in the coming weeks!
  • PSVR players will be gifted a PSVR profile badge this week as we sunset PSVR support. Thank you for playing over the years, and we hope you'll join us on one of our other platforms.
[h3]New Creator Tools:[/h3]
  • Added new chips for awarding custom Room Badges to players once a room has earned enough Room Boosts to unlock the perk.
  • 'Tis the season! We've added four new gifting events to circuits: 'Avatar Item Gifted,' 'Key Gifted,' 'Currency Gifted,' and 'Consumable Gifted'.
  • Room creators can now hide individual keys, consumables, currency offers, and room offers from the watch store. Use the "Is Visible In Watch Store" toggle under the item's detail settings.
  • Added an Avatar Item Display component to the maker pen palette. Use it to show off avatar items in cool new ways!
  • Added a Wearable Handle component to the maker pen palette. It can be used to let players equip things in your room.
  • The "Show Avatar Item Details" and "Avatar Item" chips are out of beta!
  • Rec Room Studio Objects can now customize the grip animation and placement for held objects! Use the "Grip Options (Rec Room Studio)" component to customize the grip animation and position inside a Rec Room Studio Object prefab.

t### Bug Fixes
  • Chips in circuit boards should no longer disappear!
  • Improved Watch UI performance for hover/scroll interactions
  • Fixed a streamer cam bug - the green screen was black but now it's green again!
  • Fixed a bug where your avatar items would not always reset correctly after leaving a room with temporarily equipped items.
  • Fixed a bug where Circuits wouldn't run even though nodes appeared.
  • Handles in Rooms 2.0 will no longer "offset" from their compound object.
  • Improved load reliability: Players are now less likely to fail to load and be returned to their dorm when loading large rooms.

# Rec Room UPDATE - the "Hide-and-Seek" Edition

[h3]New Stuff[/h3]
  • We're launching a new "Hide and Seek" backpack game this week! Deploy it from your backpack to start a quick game of hide-and-seek in any room where consumables are allowed. Active RR+ members will receive a few for free this week to kick-start the fun - and special thanks to @MagolorRR from the Rec Room Plus Lounge for submitting the photo we used for the box art.
  • Room Boosts are arriving this week - a new way to support rooms you love and be rewarded for it! Read more on rec.net here: https://rec.net/creator/p/Room-Boosts
  • When you earn and equip a Profile Badge, your profile will now say how you got the badge and link back to the room you got it from.
  • We overhauled the item details page. Now it has more functionality, is easier to use, and will display any active deals on items so you don't have to search for them elsewhere.
  • Tired of waiting for the paintball match summary to finish? Well now you can skip to the end by pressing Continue.
  • The Battle Pass page now shows the XP you've earned towards the next level, rather than the total amount of XP.
  • Creators can now enable the action button on Room Inventory Items in R1 rooms. Likewise, the Inventory Item action can be triggered in R1 rooms using the "Use Inventory Item" CV2 node.
[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug where VR players spawned with the incorrect rotation - which was annoying.
  • Fixed a bug with physically typing on the VR keyboard. Now you can type w3i8thuyo9utr it5 looo9kioinhgy loi8kinjgt loikie t6hisew!
  • Fixed a bug causing the "Skip Notifications" button to be greyed out. Skip away!
  • Fixed a bug with Curves/Tube rendering that was causing crashes across platforms.
  • Fixed the token store carousel, it won't break when you scroll now!
  • Fixed a bug causing storefronts to sometimes be blank - just in time for gifting season.
  • Fixed ShareCamera failing to tag players in photos.
  • Fixed ShareCamera Film not working on certain platforms.
  • Fixed a bug with the Streamer Camera breaking rendering when pointed at mirrors.
  • Fixed a RRStudio bug where sometimes the "Last Downloaded" save information might be incorrect after uploading a new save.
  • Fixed a RRStudio bug in the AnimatorSynchronizer that could cause an Animator with multiple layers to not synchronize some of the layers correctly.

Merry Midway is Here!

[p] Play Paintball on the Merry Midway![/p][p]The first new Paintball map in years is here! The nighttime fairground from Make It To Midnight, has been reimagined for team battles and Capture the Flag. Play it right now for free!

Wield The Splat Hammer:[/p][p]Bonky’s iconic squeaky hammer joins Paintball as the game’s first melee weapon. Get up close and bonk your way to victory!

Clash of Clowns Battle Pass [/p][p]Earn exclusive carnival-themed skins, gear, and rewards across all Paintball maps. Play, level up, and grab your prizes before it’s gone!

New Feature: Sprays[/p][p]Leave your mark with Sprays! Equip sprays in your backpack to tag the paintball map using the spraycan from your radial menu. Purchase Spray Boxes to collect them all, and unlock a special prize!

Mods Available in Private Instances [/p][p]Private Paintball instances now have mods available at all times, not just during Mod Mondays. Practice your favorite combos, and be sure to check out Merry Midway's map-specific mod. (You can also disable mods prior to inviting players to your private instance if you'd prefer to keep it classic!)[/p]

  • Added the finishing touches on the Merry Midway paintball map, keep your eyes peeled this week for a new place to play Paintball!
  • Turned off "Auto Open Backpack" by default for new accounts.
  • Profile badges now look a little prettier coming out of gift boxes, and in your nametag!
  • Added "backpack settings" to the experience tab in the settings menu so you can customize your experience with the backpack.
  • Room consumables can now be gifted! We'll be adding support for giving more types of UGC content soon.
  • Improved the appearance of equipment skins in thumbnails.
  • Switch is now available as a platform for customizing texture import options via Rec Room Studio.
  • Share Camera photo filters are now previewed in the viewfinder, so you can take cooler photos!
[h3]Bug Fixes:[/h3]
  • Fixed bugs causing elevated crashes on Quest and Xbox.
  • Fixed bug preventing players from editing their bios.
  • Fixed a bug where some players get stuck on the login screen on Xbox.
  • Ooh, shiny! Reflective surfaces and avatar items can react to lights again.
  • Fixed issues with very dark lighting in some Rec Room Studio rooms.
  • Fixed a bug where other players looked...weird to certain players using the Bean body type.
  • Fixed some bugs for objects in "place" mode - should work better on gamepads and VR now.
  • Fixed an RRStudio bug that would say "New Save Available" right after uploading a save. No more second guessing your uploads!
