# Rec Room UPDATE - the "Couple Small Things" Update

[h2]Updates & Bug Fixes[/h2]
  • Improved overall room load time.
  • Restored the missing loading screen in the Meta Store version of Rec Room (Link PC VR).
  • Fixed a bug that clothing item sets weren't showing up correctly in the store.
  • Fixed a bug where configuring the default value of string/vector3 ports could sometimes cause a crash.
  • Fixed a bug where sharecam timer countdowns could get desynced between players.
  • Fixed bugs where synchronized CV2 variables, state machines, and object properties could get out of sync during multiplayer creation.
  • "Always Face Viewer" on text tools now properly faces the viewer... always.
  • Avatar Studio: Fixed a bug with the Test Avatar where hats appeared in the middle of the player's face during posing/animation.
[h2]Rec Room Studio Updates[/h2]
Studio Functions have several new features to make developing Studio Objects easier:
  • Studio Properties: A new way to store values on a Studio Object or Studio Function Container (with optional synchronization).
  • Local Variables: A way to store temporary state within a Studio Function between instructions.
  • Studio Function Utilities: Helper methods for basic math, logic, and string operations (pulled from a subset of Circuits).
  • Optimized loading time for RRS rooms by downloading asset bundles in parallel while other room load operations occur.

Rec Room UPDATE - the "Disco Dodgeball" Edition

[h3]Updates & Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • Created a new Dodgeball mod that decorates the gym for the Rec Room school dance. Go to \^Dodgeball and enable Disco Dodgeball to try it out!
  • (We also added some new audio to the Music Constant and SFX Constant chips too)
  • We gave daily challenges a new look, check it out and do those challenges!
  • The Heartbreaker Battle Pass is coming soon to \^Paintball! It includes double the levels of the last pass and new avatar items and weapon skins. We've also swapped in new sprays that you can buy with paint or earn via the new pass!
  • There's a new "badges" tab in the player profile. It lets you choose which room badge you want to show off in your name tag and main profile tab. PLUS, it lets you spy on and adore alllll the room badges your friends have earned.
  • Fixed an issue where terrain showed up weirdly incorrect on Quest platforms.
  • Also fixed some weird rendering artifacts on Quest loading screens. Quest = less weird now.
  • Maker Pen "Beta" now has a setting in the Watch menu. Head to Watch/Settings/Experience/Backpack Settings. We'll be testing out some changes to re-organize the Backpack radial menu and HUD on Screens too.
  • The Heartbreaker Paintball Battle Pass is coming soon! It includes 40 levels (double the amount from the last pass) featuring new, exclusive avatar items, weapon skins, and new sprays!
[h3]Rec Room Studio Updates[/h3]
  • Studio Objects can now play custom animations for Screens players as part of the Primary Interaction Handler.
  • Full Body Avatar Waist items can now be weighted to shoulder bones. Start sewing your aprons, now!

# Rec Room UPDATE - the "Backpacks, Boosts, and Dodge-Bombs" Edition


We're kicking off the new year with an update focused on bugfixes and quality-of-life improvements, plus some new ways to play \^Dodgeball!
[h3]Updates & Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • We added a couple RRO mods to Dodgeball! Try out "Low Gravity" (self explanatory) and "Dodge-Bombs" (also...pretty self explanatory) via the new Mod Board in the gymnasium.
  • We've also made a small map adjustment to the Dodgeball court to keep things fresh. There are now small barriers behind each side to catch dodgeballs rolling by.
  • We made some improvements to the backpack! A new "recent" page shows you items you've recently used, and you can also now search/sort/filter items in your items tab to find your consumables a lot faster!
  • The Palette search page once again shows your recently selected stuff at the top (if the search box is empty).
  • Fixed the storefront's "view more" page. Now it actually lets you... view more.
  • Fixed a bug where your shopping bag would sometimes not empty after purchasing.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented Gift Packages from spawning for some players.
  • Fixed one big way that players could become invincible in Paintball & R1 rooms. If you still see it happening, let us know!
  • Fixed a bug causing unlimited paint thrower ammo in the paintball lobby, got way too messy in there.
  • The Player Outfit Slot Flag Constant chip now includes Leg & Feet slots as options.
  • Room Badges & Boost Badges displaying in your name tag are now higher resolution & properly sized.
  • Boosts can now be used from the watch home, and we added a Room Boost Count output to the Get Room Details chip
  • And last but not least - you can now gift room offers! ### Rec Room Studio Updates
  • Studio Objects have some new capabilities to directly act as a Trigger Handle with the new Primary Interaction Handler component and the On Pickup and On Release events on the Studio Object component
  • Studio Objects now allows Studio Functions to call other Studio Functions via the new component Studio Function Container. You can make lists of these items and assign them to a Studio Function Container List, then you can call a Studio Function on an element of a list from Circuits! These features together make it easier to manage UI like an inventory page (where the inventory items come from Circuits but the display of their UI is implemented in Unity).

  • [p]The team has been busy cooking up a brand-new flavor of challenge event, which will be on the menu later this month. Stay tuned![/p]
  • [p]Badges earned via RROs now have a special shader treatment to verify their authenticity.[/p]
  • [p] Speaking of badges - we're adding 2 new badges for Golden Trophy mods later this week! Earn the Turbo Goblin badge by beating Golden Trophy with Turbo & Coconut Chaos mods enabled. If you're truly skilled and can do it 20 times, you'll unlock the Turbo Goblin Master badge.[/p]
  • [p]When finishing Hide & Seek, you can now jump right into another game with "Play Again" (or buy more if you don't have any left in your backpack).[/p]
[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • [p]Fixed a bug with the scoreboard in Quest lobbies that made the start button non-interactable.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where avatar items would sometimes disappear... like a reverse magic trick![/p]
  • [p]The keyboard in VR was often spawning in your guts, and it was super hard to use. We adjusted it so that the keyboard always spawns in a predictable distance from your current view. The trade off is that the keyboard may not line up with your current watch UI quite like before, but we think this works out better[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug where standing on Studio Objects with scales other than 1 could cause player's positions to jump in space for a short time. So no more hopping around (unless you want to).[/p]
  • [p]Handles in Rooms 2.0 will no longer "offset" from their compound object.[/p]

# Rec Room UPDATE - the "Winter Wonderland 25" Edition

[h3]New In This Update:[/h3]
  • It's Winterfest in Rec Room & the Theater Department has gotten into the holiday spirit (they even convinced Kevin to don some seasonal headgear)! Look out for holiday events and wintery fun throughout the month of December!
  • We added 3 new mods to \^Paintball! Shotguns Only, Hammers Only, and Fiesta Mode - it's time to party!
  • Speaking of Paintball Mods - we've upgraded "Paintball Mod Tickets" to "RRO Mod Tickets," made it possible to view them in your backpack, and created a new board to activate them. Which is helpful because...
  • We have expanded mods to Golden Trophy! There's three new ways to play:
  • Turbo - everything is faster.
  • Coconut Chaos - Coconut Bombs drop from the sky.
  • Laser Weapons - Swaps all weapons in the quest for Laser Tag variants.
  • We cranked up the music in the Merry Midway paintball map, and nerfed the amount of movement speed you get from a charged Splat Hammer attack in screen mode.
  • You can buy Room Boosts anywhere now. And you will soon be able to use them in even more creator rooms when boosting is turned on for them in the coming weeks!
  • PSVR players will be gifted a PSVR profile badge this week as we sunset PSVR support. Thank you for playing over the years, and we hope you'll join us on one of our other platforms.
[h3]New Creator Tools:[/h3]
  • Added new chips for awarding custom Room Badges to players once a room has earned enough Room Boosts to unlock the perk.
  • 'Tis the season! We've added four new gifting events to circuits: 'Avatar Item Gifted,' 'Key Gifted,' 'Currency Gifted,' and 'Consumable Gifted'.
  • Room creators can now hide individual keys, consumables, currency offers, and room offers from the watch store. Use the "Is Visible In Watch Store" toggle under the item's detail settings.
  • Added an Avatar Item Display component to the maker pen palette. Use it to show off avatar items in cool new ways!
  • Added a Wearable Handle component to the maker pen palette. It can be used to let players equip things in your room.
  • The "Show Avatar Item Details" and "Avatar Item" chips are out of beta!
  • Rec Room Studio Objects can now customize the grip animation and placement for held objects! Use the "Grip Options (Rec Room Studio)" component to customize the grip animation and position inside a Rec Room Studio Object prefab.

t### Bug Fixes
  • Chips in circuit boards should no longer disappear!
  • Improved Watch UI performance for hover/scroll interactions
  • Fixed a streamer cam bug - the green screen was black but now it's green again!
  • Fixed a bug where your avatar items would not always reset correctly after leaving a room with temporarily equipped items.
  • Fixed a bug where Circuits wouldn't run even though nodes appeared.
  • Handles in Rooms 2.0 will no longer "offset" from their compound object.
  • Improved load reliability: Players are now less likely to fail to load and be returned to their dorm when loading large rooms.
