FREE Levels Update Coming in 2025!?
We're doing a free levels update soon (in the next few weeks)!
Which is good timing as the Box-Pushing sale has resulted in our best Steam sales days by a huge margin! It's 88% off now! Which is so cheap it makes my eyes water.
Also if you JUST bought the game we'd love a review also!
During development back in 2017 we had a lot of levels that were left on the cutting room floor. Some of these were "too hard" or "too small" or "potential softlocks" or "WTF" or just "too similar to what we already had" and thus languished in a file for no one ever to see. Even 4 of these were just released as Switch only levels.

But now in 2025 we've found a small slither of free time and had fresh eyes look at these levels and looking to re-release them for free.
Why Free?
There's a few levels which break some of the fundamental rules of the core game (ie the level requires precise timing) but rather that let these sit in a level design purgatory we'll let players enjoy them.
Without the worry of a curated and focussed level experience, or any more narrative overhead we're free to just release some of the level design chaos. And for free so if anyone complains that's our excuse.
We'll focus on the 2P levels first and the update could be anywhere from 10-50 new levels.
The number will depend on how many Ash (Studio Head) can convince Pat (Designer) to be "fine" with. I've already started to wear him down!! hahah (Ash is writing this)
These will be added as a new Vault section with a BETA label. As the levels will not have the same level of external playtesting we did back in 2017. By giving these away for free YOU are the BETA testers! ~Excellent~
Why update a 8 year old game?
It's also an experiment to see what doing an update like this does to the long tail sales.
Is there interest in a Death Squared 2?
This is a better way for us to gauge this than starting a totally new project.
