The original Stalker trilogy gets a full 4K remaster, free for existing players

The Stalker trilogy is one of the most defining and atmospheric FPS game series on PC. With the launch of Stalker 2 in 2024 bringing plenty of new eyes to the apocalyptic shooter, it's certainly worthwhile going back to the older entries. Shadow of Chornobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Prypiat certainly show their age, but they have withstood the test of time nevertheless. Now, however, GSC Game World is giving them a fresh coat of paint, revealing you'll be able to get your hands on the Stalker remasters next week and that they're free for anyone who owns the originals.

As Stalker 2 updates continue, GSC is giving the original trilogy some love

As developer GSC Game World continues to roll out the Stalker 2 fixes, the studio also has an incredibly welcome surprise for the original survival FPS trilogy. At some point in 2025, both the console and PC versions of these games will be getting an update, in an effort to bring them in line with more modern videogames. So if you've never played the original Stalker games but fancy giving them a try after the recent sequel, I'd say hold off just a little bit longer.
